Layer Cake: 1 and 1/2 cups sugar 1/2 cup butter 1 cup sweet milk 3 cups flour 1 teaspoon soda 2 teaspoon of Cream of Tartar Whites of 5 eggs, beaten to a stiff froth, butter, and sugar previously beaten into a nice cream Bake into 6 cakes
