Joseph Alansing Browning Family

Joseph Alansing Browning born 1844 in Clark Co., Arkansas died in Alamagord, New Mexico.  Married Jeanette Angelina McCarty who was born 1845 in White River, Southern Missouri died about 1931 in Alamagordo, New Mexico.
 
It was in 1883 that the Brownings arrived in New Mexico along with a large family. There were many others they knew had come to settle in that area.  They built a log cabin in Cox Canyon and soon after that they moved to the  Agency House on the Mescalero Indian Reservation in New Mexico in 1883.  Where Joe Browning was the agent.
 
Next they moved on the Felix, a small stream. There Joseph built a two story adobe house. They lived there about 4 years. 
 
Then the family moved closer to open range and a lower altitude on the Penasco River in about 1899. Joseph built an even larger frame house. Joe and Angelina  had 10 children 2 died as infants.
 
Information from Obituary of Joe and Angelina Browning, their children were Della Browning McCommus of Alamogordo, NM;  Walter C. Browning of Rogers Arkansas;  J.N. Browning of Wilcox Arizona;  Lillian Browning York, of Chino Calif;  George A. Browning of Fowler, Calif; Edwin L. Browning of Glencoe NM;  Jamettie Belle Browning Lafferty of Alamogordo, NM, and Bert C. Browning of Glencoe, NM.
