Finding Ancestors wherever their trails led

Volunteers Dedicated to Free Genealogy
Our goal at Genealogy Trails is to transcribe and post genealogical source data so that family researchers can track their ancestors through time, throughout the country.

This New Jersey Genealogy Trails website is available for adoption. If you are interested in hosting this county website, or any other site for us, view our
Volunteer Information page andemail Nancy.
(A desire to transcribe data and basic webpage-making skills are required)

Help this site grow by submitting YOUR families' data. Contact Nancy to submit your ancestors' data for inclusion on this website.

Join our mailing lists for researchers looking to connect and share information. You never know who you might meet and what family data they may share with you -- it could start a whole new branch of the family!
We also use the mailing lists to announce our website updates.

Remember to look around
at the other states and consider donating your source information -- every little bit helps someone.

We regret that we are unable to perform personal research for you.
All data we come across will be added to this site. We thank you for visiting and hope you'll come back again to view the updates we make to this site.

Hudson County lies several hundred feet from the western shore of Ellis and Liberty Islands, and has always been a gateway for many immigrants to the United States. Both Ellis Island and Liberty Island lie entirely within Hudson County's waters, which extend to the New York state line at the middle of the Hudson River. Liberty Island is wholly part of New York. Ellis Island is jointly administered by the states of New Jersey and New York. Nine-tenths of its land is technically part of Hudson County, with the remainder being part of New York.

Hudson County is also recognized as one of the Northeast's major transportation and industrial hubs
