Poorhouse Data from Hudson County, New Jersey

Ann MINER, who has been in the city jail for the last two or three days suffering with the mania-a-potion, and who against a charge was pending for stealing an iron foot-scraper, was on Saturday removed to the Alms-house. [Submitted by Candi H.]

Patrick MOORE, a brawny Hoboken long-shoreman left his wife and 7 small children about 6 weeks ago ostensibly in search of work. His family was on Thursday evening removed to the Almshouse at Snake Hill. (Hudson County)

The Weekly Trenton Times, Sept. 20, 1883
Steward HAINS, of the Almshouse yesterday entered $2,000 bail for further hearing on Friday next, before Justice Cassady, on the charges preferred by keeper Archer of the Insane Asylum.
