County Information County Seat: Albany Year Organized: 1683 Square Miles: 533 Albany County was one of the original twelve counties of the Province of New York in 1683. At that time it included all of present day Vermont and theoretically stretched west to the Pacific Ocean. It has been divided seven times throughout its history.
