ONE DEAD, MANY HURT IN STORM IN THE STATE
Close to Million Damage Reported in various Sections

Albany (AP) – One dead, several slightly injured and damage estimated close to the $1,000,000 was the toll today of a widespread wind, rain, hail and electrical storm over New York state.
    Abram Burkenbosch, 58, of Johnstown, was killed when a loose electric wire was blown about him as he left his home to warn children playing near it.
     Edward Reese, 18, suffered a lacerated right leg when struck by falling timbers as his father’s barn was blown down at Crum Creek.
     Reports of other injuries stated none was serious.
     Striking late yesterday afternoon the storms spent themselves in quick fashion but not before damaging crops, buildings, telephone and power lines.
     An electrical storm in the Watertown sector destroyed five buildings and killed many cattle. Barns were burned at Dodman, Black River and Morristown, flames leveled the home of Miss Maude Salter at Three Mole Bay. [Daily Messenger, Canandaigua. May 11, 1934. SRC1.]
