Obituaries

Herkimer, January 11. Shocking Cataftrophe A Negro Boy about fifteen years old, flave (?slave) to Nicholas Staring, of the town of Schuyler, in the County of Herkimer, having been lately found dead, and precipitatedly buried, which occafioned (?occasioned) a ftrong (?strong) fufpicion (?suspicion) in the neighborhood, that his death was the effect of cruelty and violence. On the 2d day January inftant (?instant), the Coroner fummoned (?summoned) a jury, and had the body taken up and examined, and went into an extenfive (?extensive) and particular examination of witneffes (?witnesses), whereupon the Jury pronounced, that he had been murdered by his mafter (?master) the faid (?said) Nicholas Staring, who has fince (?since) been apprehended, and is now fecured (?secured) in Herkimer gaol.
