You can send your family's raw data (transcribed birth/marriage/death, cemetery, census, biography records) to us and we'll include it on this site.

WE REGRET THAT WE ARE UNABLE TO DO PERSONAL RESEARCH FOR YOU.
All data we come across will be added to this website, so please keep checking back.

County Information

New York County
New York County was one of the original twelve counties of the Province of New York in 1683. It was named for the Duke of York and Albany.

The New York County consists of Manhattan Island and several small adjacent islands: Roosevelt Island, Randall's Island, Wards Island, Governors Island, Liberty Island, part of Ellis Island, Mill Rock, and U Thant Island; as well as Marble Hill, a small section on the mainland adjacent to the Bronx.
The original city of New York began at the southern end of Manhattan, and expanded northwards. Land was added between 1874 and 1898 from surrounding counties.

The County of New York is the most densely populated county in the United States.

Manhattan is loosely divided into Downtown, Midtown, and Uptown
Manhattan's boundaries are identical to the county's.
NY County is co-extensive with Manhattan and New York City.

New York City consolidated with the Counties of Bronx (The Bronx), Kings (Brooklyn), New York (Manhattan), Queens (Queens), and Richmond (Staten Island) in 1874.
