Jess J. Carr, 81, of 216 E. Wayne-st, a retired
laborer, died at 6 p.m.
Tuesday at his home. Mr. carr, a lifetime resident of Allen-co, was a
member of
the Christian church in Delphos and the Borrowed Time Club.He is
survived by two
sons, W. E. of Lima, and S.A. of Spencerville; a daughter, Mrs. John
Townsend of
Spencerville ; 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.The body
will remain
at the Lewis funeral home where services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday.
Rev. F.
Laman will conduct service and burial in Allen town cemetery.

On the 19th of Feb in
Allen Co., of consumption, Rachel, wife of Daniel Shenk, aged 38 years
1 month and 3 days. She was born Jan., 16, 1852 the daughter of Andrew
and Jane Stemen. She was married Dec., 9, 1875 and leaves four
children, who with her sorrowing husband, her aged parents and ten
brothers and sisters, mourn her early death; but they mourn not as
those who have no hope. She was in declining health for several years.
Burial was in Salem Cemetery. Services were conducted by J.F. Funk of
Elkhart, Indiana.

Jacob Nigh was
born Oct. 21, 1810 and died
Sept. 17, 1896. He was married to Miss Catherine Clippinger, May 1,
1835,
who preceded him in death. On September 16, 1856, he was married to
Mrs.
Elizabeth Bussert, who survives. He was the father of twelve children,
three of whom preceded him in death. He was a member of the Methodist
Episcopal
church for more than sixty years. He was one of the pioneers of Allen
County,
coming to the county in 1838 and lived on the farm where he died for
fifty-two
years.

70 years and one of the oldest
residents of the county, died at his residence in Allentown, Saturday
morning.
The funeral services took place from Allentown at 2 p.m., Rev. Dunlap

Ruth May Appleman, 59, of the Allen Inn,
died Wednesday at 5:15 p.m. in the home. Born Oct 2, 1918 in Hardin
County, she was the daughter of John E and Margaret (Morehead)
Appleman, Survivors include a sister, Mrs. William (Sylvia) Groves of
Lima; and two brothers, George Appleman of Chicago and Paul Appleman of
Findlay. Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Siferd Main Street
Chapel with burial in Zion cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m.
today and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funerals services for John Sherman Ewing, of
520 W. Wayne-st, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the
Central Church of Christ, with Rev. Paul Runk officiatinig.He was
a 32nd Degree Mason and was affiliated with that group at Dayton. He
was a member of the local Masonic Lodge, No. 205.Surviving are his
daughter Mrs. Berda Ewing of Lima; three grandchildren, Mrs. W.K.
Baker, Ft. Wayne, Ind., Harry Ewing of Robinson, Ill., and Mrs. Sam
Owens of Virginia Beach, Va. Also surviving is on great-grandchild,
Jeffrey Baker of Ft. Wayne.

Miss Goldie Morin, 72, black, died of a
heart attack at 3 p.m. Monday in her home, 324 W. Elm-st, after an
illness of two years. She had been a resident of Lima for the past 50
years and was the daughter of a late Lima barber.
Her nearest surviving relatives are two
nephews, Waltin Morin of New York and Sargent Morin of Seattle, Wash.,
and a niecr, Mrs. James Patterson of Lima.
The body will remain at the Patterson
funeral home until time of final rites which will be conducted at 10:30
a.m. Thursday at the Second Baptist church by Rev. G.J. Johnson. Burial
in Woodlawn cemetery.

Mrs. Lettie Johnson, 98, died at 5 a.m.
Tuesday in the home of her son, Edward, 1814 Norval-ave, with whom she
resided. Besides her son she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Mary
Shroud, Pine Bluff, Ark., and mrs. Amanda Baxter, Rochester, N.Y.; two
brothers, James Grimes of Aurora, Ark., and Joseph in Canada; and a
granddaughter. The body will remain at the Jones Bros. funeral home
until services at 2 p.m. Friday in the Fourth Street Baptist church.
Rev. L.C. McGee will officiate with burial in Lutheran cemetery.

Funeral services for jack McCambridge who
died in Chicago were held in St. john's Catholic church at 9:30 a.m.
Tuesday. Burial was in St. John's cemetery. The body arrived here
Monday afternoon and was taken to the B.L. Jauman funeral home to await
the funeral Tuesday. Altho Mr. McCambridge never lived in this city,
Mrs. McCambridge did at one time. She was buried in the cemetery here.

Funeral services for Robert H. Eilerman, 30,
who died at 10 p.m. Tuesday at the home of his parents, mr. and Mrs.
H.J. Eilerman, 637 S. Elizabeth-st, will be at 9 a.m. Friday at St.
John's Catholic church. the Rev. Leonard Plunnianns, pastor, will
officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemani cemetery. Mr. Eilerman had been
ill for several weeks. He was born in Newport, Ky. he is survived by
his parents; four sisters, Rita, Dorothy, Betty Ann, at home and Mrs.
Paul Schimpf, of Lima, and four brothers, Leonard and Henry at home,
Albert and Louis of Lima.

Funeral services were to be held Wednesday
afternoon in St. John's church for Louis Anthony Etgen,
seven-months-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Etgen, living three miles
south of Ottoville. Burial will be in St. John's cemetery. Besides his
parents, he leaves one sister, Rita.

Benoni S. Brenneman, 72, of 709 W.
Kibby-st, died while performing his duties in the Olivet Presbyterian
church at 7 a.m. Sunday. He was a former carpenter, until seven years
ago. Since then he had been a janitor at the church. Roy Mooney,
custodian of the grace Methodist Episcopal church, was talking to him
when he suddenly dropped dead. Dr. Burt Hibbard, coroner, said that
death was due to heart failure probably caused by a blood clot.
Brenneman was born in Allen-co and had lived in Lima for 40 years.
Surviving are his widow, Candie; two sons, Ralph of Lima, and Herschel,
of Ft. Jennings; three brothers, George and Dan, both of Elida, and Sam
of Lima; one sister, Mrs. Nancy McBride of Elida. Funeral services will
be conducted by Rev. Otis Harter, pastor of Olivet church, in the
church at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial in Allentown cemetery.

Mrs. Sarah
Mumaugh, 85, died at City
Hospital Thursday night, after an illness of three months from general
breakdown
due to age. She was born in Perry township June 1835. She was the
daughter of
Daniel and Hannah Shuler. Her first husband was killed in the Civil
War.
She is survived by a son. Uriah Jacobs, a grand daughter, Mrs. H.L.
Bobb
and a great-grand daughter, Florence Luttrell, all of Lima. A brother
William Shuler, resides in Troy. The body was removed to the Williams
and
Davis Mortuary. Funeral services will be Saturday at 4:30 at the grave
in
Lafayette Cemetery.

James Davies, 57, resident of
the Allen-co home, died at
8:50 a.m. Thursday in Memorial hospital. He had been a patient at the
hospital
since Tuesday. He was born in Ada, Aug. 8, 1892, and had been a
resident of
Allen-co since 1924. His wife died in April, 1948. There are no
survivors. The
body will remain at the Chiles and Sons funeral home pending completion
of
arrangements.

Word has been received of the death Monday
of Mrs. Mae Winegardner, 65, former Harrod resident, of injuries
received in an automobile accident in the Toledo area. Two daughters,
Wanda and Beulah, also were injured in the mishap.The widow of Lewis J.
Winegardner, she is survived by two sons, Earl of the U.S. Army and
Lewis of Toledo; her daughters; a step-daughter, Mrs. C.B. Johnston of
Pataskala; two step-sons, Stanley Winegardner of Hillard and Reed of
Washington, C.H. and four grandchildren.Services will be at 10 a.m.
Thursday in the Eggleston funeral home, Toledo, with burial in Auglaize
cemetery, south of Harrod.

Mrs. Ora Upshaw, 21, died at 8:30 a.m.
Tuesday at her home at 1434 S. Main-st after a two-weeks illness.She is
survived by her husband, Moses, one child Joyce M at home; her father
Samuel Robinson of Lima; four brothers, Simon and Murphy of Lima, and
John and Albert of Livingston, Ky., one sister, Velma of Lima,
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Gulley of Livingston. The body will
remain at the Jones mortuary until funeral arrangements are completed.

Mrs. Alice (Frederick) Swan, 82, of
Harrod, died Monday in Memorial hospital after an illness of two years.
She was a member of the Methodist church of Harrod.Mrs. Swan, a widow
is survived by a brother, Clement Frederick of Ft. Wayne, and several
nieces and nephews.The body will remain at the Lewis funeral home until
time of services, which will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Harrod
Methodist church. Rev. L.M. Wentz will conduct the rites and burial
will be in Auglaize cemetery, east of Westminster.

Following an illness of four months from
paralysis, Mrs. Catherine Snyder, 81, died Monday noon at her home. The
deceased was born July 10, 1844 in Allen-co and was the widow of the
late A. Snyder. She leaves one brother, James Franklin, lima, and a
sister, Mrs. Elizabeth McCoy, van Wert. Services will be conducted
Thursday at 2 p.m. at Grace M.E. church, Rev. D.N. Kelly officiating.
Burial in Salem cemetery.

John W. McCormack, 76, died Wednesday at the
home of his half-brother and half-sister, Alfred and Miss Anna O'Neill,
of Grant-st. the body was removed to the Jauman funeral home where the
funeral will be made at a time to be announced later. Mr. McCormack
also leaves one other half-brother, Charles O'Neill. He was a widower.
Mrs. McCormack and four children preceded him in death. Mrs. McCormack
died 37 years ago.

James r. Sillence, 60, of 925 S. Elizabeth,
died Monday at St. Rita's hospital following an operation. Mr. Sillence
was born in England and came to Lima eight years ago. Until a year ago
he had been employed at the Lima Locomotive Works. Funeral arrangements
have not been arranged.

Arthur Prendergast, 29, died Monday night at
the Lima State Hospital after a prolonged illness from tuberculosis. He
has been an inmate at the hospital for over six years. The body has
been shipped to Bridgeport, Conn., his former home for interment.

Heffner, 75, widow of W. D. Heffner, Civil war veteran, who died at
9 a.m. Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Butters, 1236
Lakewood-av, will be conducted at 2 p.m. at the same address. The Rev.
E.W. Bloomquist, pastor of the First Baptist church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery. She was a member of the Women's
Relief corps, G.A.R., and the First Baptist church. Her husband died
last March 8. She is survived by two other daughters, Mrs. J. R. Meily
of Lima and mrs. Russell B. Green of Celina; a brother, Edward Bowers,
and a sister, Mrs. Martin Steen, both of Muncie, Ind.
