Final rites will be held at 9:15 Monday from Lima St. John's Catholic church with the Rev. Albert A. Fate officiating. Burial will be in St. John's cemetery, Delphos. The body will remain at the Siferd and Son funeral home until time of services. [The Lima News, Jan. 16, 1949]

Henry Parham
The remains of Henry Parham, who died Tuesday at St. Augustine, Fla., will arrive here at 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon over the C. H. & D. The body will be accompanied by Mrs. Parham, Miss Bina Parham, a sister, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Parham, of Ft. Wayne, Ind. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday from the home No. 714 W. North street, the Rev. M. B. Fuller, of the Trinity M. E. church officiating. Interment in Woodlawn cemetery.

Howard Peed
Body of Howard Peed, alias George Smith, age 59, who died at the Lima State Hospital for Criminal Insane, has been taken to the Sowards funeral home. Peed, who was convicted of burglary in Cleveland and sentenced to the Ohio State penitentiary was transferred to the Lima State hospital March, 1919. He was a native of Danville, Va.

Virgil Peppel, well known here where he made his home for several years, died at the home of his mother at Bluffton, Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock, after a protracted illness. The funeral was held there this afternoon. Lima Daily News, Feb 5, 1906

Madison Pettiford
Madison Pettiford, aged 46 years, colored, died at his late home on east High street, yesterday afternoon, death resulting from a long illness. The deceased was 46 years of age and he leaves a wife. The funeral will be held from the A.M. E. church at 2 o'clock tomorrow, with the pastor, Rev. Mr. Young officiating, assisted by Rev. Mr. Jordan, of the Second Baptist church. Interment in Woodlawn cemetery.

Fred J Pflum
Fred J Pflum, of 714 S. McDonel-st died at 7 a.m. Monday on his 74th birthday, at St. Rita?s hospital from complications following a lingering illness. He was admitted to the hospital a week ago. Pflum, a life-long resident of Lima , was a retired Nickel Plate railroad employe. He was a member of St. Johns Catholic church and the Holy Name Society. Surviving are his wife, Sophia; and two brothers, Charles and Harry both of Lima. Requiem high mass will be celebrated at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday at St. Johns church with Rev. Fr. Albert A. Fate, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the family plot in Gethsemani cemetery. The body will remain at the Cantwell funeral home until time of services.

Mary Pickett
Mrs. Mary Pickett, 82, died Sunday night at her home, 324 Ewing avenue . She was born in Ireland and came to America in childhood. She located in Lima forty-two years ago and since that time has made her home with her nieces, Misses Mary and Margaret Burke. For the past nine years Mrs. Pickett has been an invalid. The two nieces have cared for her 19 years. They are her only surviving relatives. Requiem mass will be celebrated at St. Rose Catholic church, Wednesday morning. Interment will be in Gethsemani cemetery.

Ellen M. Pierson
Mrs. Ellen M. Pierson, 73, died of paralysis at 7 p.m., Friday at her home at 537 n. Cole-st, after an illness of only 20 hours. She was born in Allen-co and lived near Elida until a few years ago. she was the widow of William T. Pierson, and is survived by a daughter, Miss Eva K. Pierson, at home, and a son, Ira B. Pierson, of Lima. A brother Joseph Riley, lives in Chino, Calif. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the residence. Burial will be in Walnut Grove cemetery.

Francis M Place
Francis M Place, 56, died at his home. 1045 Forest avenue, yesterday after an illness of six months from tuberculosis Ho was born in Van Wert December 4, 1858 and came to this city a number of years ago and was working at the Lima Locomotive works previous to his illness. Three children, Jacob, Max and Forest, all at home, survive the death. The funeral services will be held from the residence this evening and the body will be accompanied to Melrose Saturday morning where the burial will be made.

Mary C. Place
Mary C. Place, 90, of 1015 Rice died Sunday in Memorial Hospital . She was born in Ellicottville, N.Y. , Sept. 21, 1879, the daughter of Fredrick and Agnes (Brown) Rohrick. She married. Ezra Place , who died this past June 30. Surviving are three cousins, Mrs. Clara Wehrman of 1423 S. Sugar: Mrs. Myrtle Hicks and Ella French, both of West Valley , N.Y. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Chiles and Sons-Laman West Wayne Street Chapel, with Rev. Ronald Cannon officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call tonight after 7.

Pauline L. Place
Mrs. Pauline Louise Place , 69, of 7330 Clum Road , died Thursday at 8: 15 p.m. in St Rita's Medical Center. She was born in Celina on Jan.30, 1900, the daughter of James Frank and Elizabeth Swartz Her husband, Harry V. Place , survives. She was a retired employee of Westinghouse Electric Co and she was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Wapakoneta Eagles Auxiliary. Other survivors include a son, James R. Wllmoth of 648 Marion Ave. , three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Services will be 2:30 p. m. Friday in Chiles and Sons Laman West Wayne Street Chapel with Rev. Clyde Miller officiating Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call today at the funeral home after 7 pm.

Melissa Sue Poe
Melissa Sue Poe, 1 ½ days, died at 2:15 p.m. Sunday at Toledo Hospital . She was born Oct. 31, 1981, in Lima . Her mother, Pamela Brown Poe, survives at 752 S. Broadway. Her father, John Mullins, survives at 116 S. Shawnee St . Survivors also include maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilkson Brown of Weston , W.Va. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m.. Tuesday at Memorial Park Cemetery , Rev. Terry Brock officiating. Friends may call at Siferd Westwood Chapel from 7 to 9 tonight.

John Poling and Madison Mitchell
Lima -- Madison Mitchell and John Poling, young farmers living on adjoining farms southwest of the city, were both accidentally killed Monday. Poling was riding on top of a load of hay to his barn when he fell off, head first. He was picked up unconscious and died in a few minutes. Mitchell a few minutes later was leading his team of horses into the barn when one of them animals suddenly turned around and kicked him in the abdomen. He was picked up dying, and lived only a short time. [Newark Advocate Jul 2, 1901]

Edith Lyell Pond
The home of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Pond who live at 917 south Metcalf -st, was saddened yesterday afternoon by the death of their little daughter Edith Lyell Pond, who passed away at 4:30, death being due to scarlet fever. The funeral which was private, took place this afternoon at three o'clock, and interment was made at Woodlawn cemetery.

The remains of the late John Povenmire, who died at the Soldiers' Home at Dayton the latter part of last week, arrived here yesterday and were taken to the home of D. Staples on west Market street. The funeral services were held from the U. B. church at 2 o'clock this afternoon and the remains conveyed to a resting place in the Allentown cemetery.

Lima -- Arthur Prendergast, 29, died Monday night at the Lima State Hospital after a prolonged illness from tuberculosis. He has been an inmate at the hospital for over six years. The body has been shipped to Bridgeport, Conn., his former home for interment.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Gomer Congregational Christian church for Mrs. Margaret Price, 80, Gomer, who died in her home early Saturday morning. The Rev. A.W. Downs will officiate. Burial will be in Gomer cemetery. The body will be at the residence after 11 a.m. Sunday, and will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Monday. Arrangements were made by Jones funeral home, McComb.
