Thieves took a liking to contents of automobiles Halloween night and obtained loot valued at more than $ 170, according to complaints filed with police. Benjamin S. MOTTER, of 613 W. Spring-st, told police that he parked his car in the 200 block of N. Main-st Friday night and that someone broke out a glass out of a door and removed a valuable traveling bag, containing a red sweater, two pairs of wool hose and several shirts, all which he valued at $ 150.

E. A. SIFERD, of 426 N. Jameson-av, reported the theft of a shotgun valued at $ 20 from his automobile which he parked in front of his residence early Friday night.

Halloween pranksters hurled a piece of iron thru a windshield of the automobile of Albert H. HARDEBBURG, of 840 W. Market=st, but removed no valuables from the car.

John MILLER, 18, son of Joseph MILLER, of Cloverdale, escaped death around 7 p.m. Saturday when he was thrown thru the windshield of an automobile in which he was riding between Mandale and Cloverdale. MILLER suffered a three-inch cut on his neck that missed only by the fraction of an inch of severing the jugular vein. This cut, along with others on his head and face were dressed by a local physician after a passing motorist had brought the youth to this city. Several stitches were required in dressing the cuts. A Mr. BRINKMAN, who was driving the car escaped injury when the automobile left the road and crashed into a ditch. The two were on their way to Delphos for the evening when the accident happened.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter NEIDHART and children were in Ada Saturday, and while there attended the Ohio Northern and Capital University football game.

Mr. and Mrs. W.R. BRIGGS had the following guests over the week-end, Leon BRIGGS of Dennison, William PEDICER of Canton, Robert ENGLISH and Homer VIRGEL of Uhrecksville, Ohio.

Miss Helen REED spent the week-end in Toledo with Miss Retha Reed and Mr. and Mrs. Alton REED.

Miss Mabel METZGER, has returned to New Mexico, after a short visit with her parents. During her visit she attended the Home Missionary Conference at Cincinnati, bringing back with her Deaconees WHITEHEAD, who spent the week here.

A niece and her aunt met in probate court Saturday morning, and when they left the office both possessed certificates to marry. The neice Clara Meleta HULLINGER, 16, of 124 E. Fifth-st, was of the opinion that her aunt knew nothing of her intentions to marry Carl Wesley O'LARY, 19, of 1401 S. Main-st. She had been apprised the fact that her aunt Opal Irene WHEELER, 19, of 308 W. Vine-st was to become the bride of Harold Isiah STEVER, 26, of American-tp. A double ceremony was being arranged after the marriage licenses had been issued by Mrs. Jesse M. LOWRY. The event took place sometime Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Carl HUBERT and son and Mrs. Samuel HAUENSTEIN of Bluffton and Mr. and Mrs. Earl GRIFFITHS and family were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. A.C. LACKEY.

Mr. William TEEGARDIN, student at Ohio State, spent the week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B.M. TEEGARDIN.

Miss Helen RASOR entertained with a Halloween party Wednesday evening at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd RASOR. Those present were, Leah LAMB, Dorothy MURRAY, Thea Belle SNYDER, Martha SNYDER, Fern STOVER, Louise LAMB, Mary Kathryn SCHULTS, Arthur WATSON, Vernon RASOR, and the hostess, Helen RASOR.

Mr. Harvey NUNGESTER and children of Lima and Mr. and Mrs. Loree KING were the Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. E.J. RITCHIE.

Mr. and Mrs. Dick HEATH and family were last week-end guests of relatives in Toledo.

A Halloween party was enjoyed by the members of the Elida fire department and their wives on Tuesday evening at their clubroom.

Miss Laura WEYER of Detroit is visiting with her sister, Mrs. W.A. DAVIS. Mrs. Emma DAVIS of north Lima was also a Saturday and Sunday guest at the Davis home.

Mrs. Cora KELLER has gone to Sarasota, Fla., to spend the winter.

Mr. and Mrs. Virgil RIDENOUR of Carmichael, Pa., announce the birth of a daughter June.

Miss Margaret SNYDER of near Rockford is visiting her sister Mrs. Anna BECHTOL.

Mrs. Nell Halter, wife of the former proprietor of the Halter cigar store at Main and Kibby streets, is seriously ill at the home of her mother, Mrs. Ward, at 770 Atlantic avenue. She is suffering from an attack of peritonitis and her condition is regarded as so critical that relatives residing out of the city have been summoned.

J. E. Chenoweth, 282 west High street, who is employed at the Lima Locomotive Corporation was slightly injured Monday when he was cutting a piece of steel. He was taken in the Williams and Davis ambulance to St. Rita's hospital where it was found his injuries were not serious.

Miss Margaret Omlor and Mr.  Otto Solomon were married Jan. 31, 1906 at 7:30 by Rev. Father Rupert at St. John's parsonage in Lima.
 
At Spencerville early yesterday occurred the death of Mrs. Adeline Monroe, one of Allen county's pioneer women. For a score of years the aged lady, who was in her 85th year, had been blind, and a sufferer from physical infirmities. She was the mother of Kossuth Monroe, of south Metcalf street, this city; ex-county recorder Geo. Monroe; Isaac Monroe, of Galates, and Joseph Monroe, of Spencerville. 
 
After an illness of twenty-four hours, Mrs. Elizabeth Whited, at the age of 86 years, died this morning at five o'clock of paralysis, at 1108 east Market street, the home of her son, Albert Whited. The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at two o'clock in charge of Rev. Sims. Her husband was killed in the rebellion 44 years ago.

After a long illness from pneumonia, E. P. Wilkins, the well known insurance agent, died Saturday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Blanche Wheeler, 214 north Pierce street. Deceased was 61 years of age and had been a resident of Lima for the past thirty years, during which time he had been engaged in the real estate and insurance business. He was born in Brown county in 1845 and came to Allen county when the city of Lima was entering upon its greatest period of prosperity. The funeral will be private at the residence on Pierce street, Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'clock, with Rev. Scholes in charge. Burial in Woodlawn cemetery.
 
Mrs. Myrtle C. Shull, of 218 north Jackson street, who has been sick for the past four months, the attending physicians being unable to diagnose her case, died Saturday evening about five o'clock while in the ambulance, being removed to the city hospital. Her death was due ti appendicitis. Deceased was 29 years of age. The funeral was hel this morning at nine o'clock, Rev. Young officiating and the remains were shipped to Nevada for burial.

 Virgil Peppel, well known here where he made his home for several years, died at the home of his mother at Bluffton, Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock, after a protracted illness. The funeral was held there this afternoon.
