TRUCK CRASH KILLS GROVE AREA MAN LEWIS W. ROCKHILL
Columbus Grove- A Buckeye Dairy Co., employee in Lima for 21 years Lewis W. Rockhill, 49, Rt 2, Columbus Grove died 1:30 p. m. Wednesday in Mansfield General
Hospital from injuries substained in a two truck head-on collision. The accident occured at 10:30 a. m. Wednesday six miles west of Mansfield on U. S. 30 according to the
state patrolmen from the Mansfield post. Investigating officers said Rockhill was headed west near Ontario when he swerved his truck to avoid hitting the rear of a car making
a right turn onto a country road. Patrolmen said the truck went left of center and collided head-on with another driven by Andrew Kovach 49 , of Mansfield. Kovach is listed in
fair condition in Mansfield General Hospital. Rockhill was thrown from the cab of his truck by the impact of the crash. He substained severe head and chest injuries , according
to the Richland County's coroner office. Mr. Rockhill was a veteran of World War II and was a member of Rockport Methodist!Church. He was born June 18, 1918 in Allen County ,
a son of Lambert and Lena Van Meter. His mother survives. Also surviving are his wife Marjorie; three daughters
Mrs. Deloris Hartman , Rt. 1, Columbus Grove, Janice Ann and Nelda, both at home; one grandchild; and three brothers Clarence of Napoleon, Donald of Lafayette, and Leo
Boedicker of Rt.1 Ottawa. Services will be 3:00 p. m. Saturday in Diller Funeral Home., Bluffton. Rev. Robert Carter officiating. Burial will be in Rockport Cemetery. Friends may
call at the funeral home after 7 tonight.

MARJORIE M. FRY ROCKHILL

 

COLUMBUS GROVE -- Marjorie M. Rockhill, 80, of Columbus Grove, died at 12:40 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
She was born Sept. 28, 1921, in Hardin County to Ralph and Lula (Barnes) Fry. She married Lewis Rockhill on April 24, 1944, and he died Sept. 6, 1967.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Norman (Delores) Seaders, Kenton; Mrs. Frank (Nelda) Treglia, Waynesfield; Janice Wilson, Rockport; six grandchildren
; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Byron Fry, Kenton; Gene Fry, Roundhead; and three sisters, Helen Shellenbarger, St. Johns; and
Edith Currence and Mrs. Roger (Lucille) Harpster, both of Alger.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Elenor Moore and Norma Vlasco.
Mrs. Rockhill was a machine operator at Nationwide Industries, Columbus Grove.
She was a member of Rockport United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at \Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Home,
Bluffton, the Rev. Bob Seymour officiating. Burial will be in Rockport Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

JANICE A. ROCKHILL HURST WILSON,

 

JANICE A. WILSON, 51, Columbus Grove, died at 8:25 a.m. April 8, 2004, at Heartland Rehabilitation Center,Lakeview.
She was born Nov. 13, 1952, in Lima to Lewis and Marjorie Fry Rockhill, who preceded her in death. She married Mike Hurst, who died Nov. 13, 2000.
Mrs. Wilson retired as a nurse's aide from Blanchard Valley Regional Health Rehabilitation Center, Findlay. She had also been a cook at the Cookery in Beaverdam.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Bluffton. She was a graduate of Bluffton High School. She enjoyed bowling at Southgate Lanes, Bluffton.
Survivors include a son, Bradley (Cynthia) Wilson of Waynesfield; a daughter, Robyn Wilson of Rockport; a stepdaughter, Brenda Thompson of Findlay; two
sisters, Nelda (Frank) Treglia of Waynesfield and Delores (Norman) Seaders of Ada; and 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Homes,
Bluffton. The Rev. Dee Wentz will officiate. Burial will be in Rockport Cemetery, Rockport.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.

LAFAYETTE -- Funeral services for Donald W. Rockhill, 79, of North Washington Street, Lafayette, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Chiles and Sons-Laman
Funeral Home, Bluffton, the Rev. Mickey Kimball officiating. Burial will be in Rockport Cemetery, Rockport, where military rites will be conducted.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Rockhill died at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2000 at Lima Memorial Hospital.He was born Aug. 11, 1920 in Allen County to Lambert and Lena (VanMeter) Rockhill
. He married Doris L. Evans on Dec. 1, 1942, and she survives. Also surviving are a son, Ronald of St. Marys; four daughters, Pamela Rockhill and Linda Furry, both of Lafayette;
Patricia Cox, Bluffton; Rhonda Frost, Findlay; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence and Lewis Rockhill and Leon Boedicker.
Mr. Rockhill retired from the Allen County Engineers Office. He was a member of Lafayette-Jackson Volunteer Fire and Rescue and had served on Lafayette Village
Council. He graduated from Beaverdam High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Rockhill was a member of Lafayette United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be made to the church or Lafayette-Jackson Volunteer Fire and Rescue

at Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born July 8, 1910 in Celina, the son of Charlie and Mary Lou Herron Shepherd. On June 28, 1929, he married Virgie Van Horn, who
died April 12, 1975. Mr. Brock was employed in maintenance for 27 years with the B & O railroad, retiring in 1978. He was a member and Past Master of the Blue Lodge
Fort Amanda 706, Free and Acecepted Masons; the Lima Charter 49; the Lima Council 20 and Shawnee Commandry 14. Survivors include one son; Richard Brock of Lima;
two daughters Nadine Brock of Lima and Mrs. Thomas ( Pam) Metcalf of Hume; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Gene Shepherd of Ala. He was
preceded in death by one daughter Peggy Dunbar; one granddaughter; two brothers; Leonard and Bevin Shepherd; three sisters; Hazel Shepherd, Mary Gladys Lewis, and
Goldie Camper. Rev. Dennis A. Meyer will officiate for the services . Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and one hour
prior to the services Monday at the funeral home, where a Masonic Lodge service will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. by Fort Amanda Lodge 706.

Ralph C. Zerbe Sr, 85 of here died at his residence . He was born Sept 28, 1906 in Lima to John and Alice Harris Zerbe. On Nov 12, 1930 he married Opal Shepherd who survives.
Mr Zerbe was the owner of Zerbe's Paint and Wallpaper. He was a member of the Lafayette Congregational Christian Church and the Republican Party. Other survivors include one
son Ralph C. Zerbe Jr of Lima; and one daughter Mrs William ( Shirley) Roeder of Lafayette; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren;one;one brother Raymond Zerbe of Summersville,
S.C.; two sisters Mary Craig of Lima and Bonnie Skinner of Warysville, Wash. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Chiles and Sons-Laman Chapel Funeral Home with the

Opal Mae Zerbe, 87 died a 7:32 a.m. April 8, 2001 at her daughter's residence.She was born June 21, 1918 in Celina Mercer Co, OH to Jess Shepherd and Grace Chambers.
She married on Nov 12, 1930 to Ralph C. Zerbe Sr., who died Nov 24, 1991. Mrs Zerbe owned Country Side Stitch and Sew. She had worked with her husband at Zerbe's Paint
and Wallpaper Store. She was a member of Lafayette Congregational Christian Church. Women's Followship;Federation of Women's Club and the Allen County Republican Party.
She was past President of the Women's Republican Club. She was a former member and past president of Business and Professional Women, West Central Ohio Ouilt Guild, Crafty
Quilters Club,and Town and Country Quilt Club. She was a former member of Jackson Grange and Tri-County Club of Ohio. Survivors include a son Ralph C. Zerbe Jr.and special
friend Mary Jane);a daughter Shirley ( William) Roederof Lima:a sister Arbula ( Billie ) Greeno of Findlay, OH nephew and care giver Terry Lowe

FUMES CLAIM ELDERLY PAIR

An elderly couple was found dead in their bed Monday night by their son-in-law, who forced his way into their house when they didn't answer his knock.
Jesse R, Shepherd, 73 and his 71 year old wife, Grace apparently died during their sleep Sunday night. Death was to to asphyxiation , police report. The son-in-law, Ralph Zerbe,
Rt 5, called the officers to the couple's home at 818 Findlay Road at 6:22 p. m. He had discovered them minutes earlier. The Shepherds recently retuned from a Florida trip and
apparently, during their absence, birds entered the chimney of their home, fell into the flue and blockedit; police said. Fumes fopm a heating stove were unable to escape though the
chimney and filled the house as the couple was sleeping, police theorized , causing them to suffocate. Mr. Shepherd was born Aug 21, 1891 in Montezuma, ( Darke County Oh really)
and had lived in Lima for 49 years. His parents were Nathaniel and Vivian ( Virginia Colson) Shepherd.He was a retired carpenter-contracter. Mrs. Shepherd was born Oct 21, 1893
in Fort Loramie. She was the daughter of Jeremiah and Alice Chambers. Surviving are two daughters!
Mrs Ralph ( Opal) Zerbe of Rt. 5; and Mrs Dorsey (Arbula) Greeno of Findlay; four grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Mr. Shepherd was a brother to Charles Shepherd
of 657 N. Union and Cary Shepherd of 1017 N. Adams St.; and Mrs. Maggie House of Portland,IN. Mrs. Shepherd has two surviving sisters Mrs Cary ( Nora ) Shepherd of 1017 N.
Adams St.; and Mrs. Hazel Wires of 1307 Findlay Road. Mr. and Mrs. Shepherd were members of the First Assembly of God Church. Friends may call at the residence after 7 tonight
and until 1:00 p. m. Thursday when the bodies will be removed to the church where services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Rev. T. E. Hartshorn and Rev. Moses Vogh will officate and burial
will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangemets are being directed by Chiles and Sons-Laman Funeral Home

Lima; Virgil Charles Sloan(Bud) ,80 died at 10.21p.m. 20 Sept, 2000 at his
residence. He was born in Allen County to Charles and Hazel Chambers SloanWires
On 27 Dec,1937 he married Martha Jean Morrison who survives. Mr Sloan
retired in 1982 as a skilled machinist from Ex-Cell- O Corp.. after 28
years. He attended St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a member
of the Allen County Fair Board and was the Grand Marshal for this year's
Allen County Fair Parade. He was a member of the Allen County Sheriff's
Mounted Posse and had been a Special Deputy for the Allen County Sheriff's
Dept. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Association Lodge 8,
Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370, The Buckeye Riders and Drivers , The
Ex-Cell-O Retirees Club, and a charter member of the Bath Volunteer Fire
Dept. He was an auto racing fan Survivors also include two sons Joe( Nancy) Sloan
and Virgil "Buck" (Jean)Sloan of Lima. Two daughters Edith J. (Calvin) Reese
of Lima and Lynne Anne (Greg) Adams of Columbus Grove. A sister
Persetta ( Charles ) Bowsher of Lima. 14 grandchildren, 26 great grand children
and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by one grandchild
and a great-great-grandchild. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Chiles &Sons
Laman Funeral Home Laman Lewis Chapel. The Revs Aurther ZWilde and Delbert

Ruth E.Heil died at 8:25 a. M April 7,1998at Lima Health and Rehab. She was born June 15, 1916 in Westminster to Joseph and Sarah L. Rockhill Goldsmith.
On June 3,1963 she married Roy. J .Heil who died April 21, 1990. Mrs Heil held various jobs. She was a former member of the Westminster United Methodist
Church and a member of the Elderly Day Care Center. Survivors include a daughter Mrs. Sidnee L/ Branch ( Kenneth) and a sister Mildred Benchoff of Wadsworth, Ohio
and a grandchild. Private grave side services will be held with no visitation . Burial in Salem Cemetery , Auglaize Township.Memeorial contributions

WADSWORTH -- Mildred L. (Goldsmith) Benchoff, 93, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002, at Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital.
Graveside services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, Belle Center with Pastor Audleigh W. Purdin officiating.
Friends may call Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Hilliard & Mullaney Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth.

She was born in WestminsterAleen County. She was the daughter of Joseph and Sarah Rockhill Goldsmith. She married Robert Benchoff Sr.
He died previously. Mrs.Benchoff resided in Wadsworth for 49 years, previously residing in Bellefontaine. She was a machine operator at PGA,
and attended Reimer Road Baptist Church. She was a member of the Salvation Army Women's Home League, and the Center for Older Adults
Surviving are stepsons and their wives, Robert Benshoff Jr. and Janice of Bellefontaine, Harry Benshoff and Paula of Sidney; several grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Minne E. Feltner 54, of 424 E. Pearl St. died at 8:55 a.m. in the home of her daughter Mrs. Ronnie Graham 673 Elm St. She had been ill for several months.
Mrs Feltner was born in Pettisville, OH 22 Nov,1906 . She had lived in Lima for 19 years and prior to that in Westminister, Oh her husband, Emil K. died in 1950. Mrs. Feltner
had been employed for three years at the Lima Public Library before her illiness. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America. Surviving are a son Emil J., 424 E. Pearl St.

Emil K.( Charlie) Feltner 54 0f 434 E. Pearl St.died at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Lima District Tuberculosis Hospital following an illines of a year and five months. Mr. Feltner
was born in Berryville, Va and had been a resident of Lima for the past nine years. He was a veteran of World War I. Surviving are his widow Minnie;nine daughters
Mrs. Inez Heck, Fostoria.; Mrs Sarah Graham of 422 E. Pearl St., Norma, Ethel, Carol, Charlotte, Eileen, Louise and Nellie at home;and a son, Emil Joseph at home; a brother
Miles , Winchester, VA; two sisters Mrs Mossie Buckner and Mrs. Omega Buckner both of Berryville, Va; a half sister Mrs Nellie Cobb, Berryville; and a grandchild. The bod
will remain at Chiles and Son Funeral Home for services at 2:00p.m. Monday. The Rev. Charles Rasel will officate assisted by the Rev. Willard Thomas .
Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Auglaize Twp.

Leo J. Haunhorst, 79, of Lima, died at 8 p.m. Monday at his residence.
He was born March 15, 1927, in Landeck to Richard and Cordelia (Hotz) Haunhorst. He married Sarah Feltner Graham
He then married Hazel Haunhorst in 1982. She died in 1984.
Survivors include six children, Cheryl (George) McGuire of Elida, Christina (Robert) Friedman of Lima, Barbara Haunhorst of Toledo
Michael (Kim) Haunhorst of Columbus, Joy (Kevin) Wenning of Holland and David J. (Lisa) Haunhorst of Anderson, Indiana;
a stepdaughter, Peg (Allen) Graham of Woodhaven, Mich.; a sister, Rita (Frank) Hesler of Lima; a brother, Eugene (Marcella) Haunhorst
of Paintsville; a sister-in-law, Edna Haunhorst of Delphos; 16 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two step
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Velma Johnson; and two brothers, Urban and Carl Haunhorst.
Mr. Haunhorst was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and was a retired truck driver from Duff Truck Line, Inc.
Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at Siferd Funeral Home Westwood Chapel, the Rev. Chad Gilligan officiating.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery with gravesite rites by VFW Post 1275.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Lima RONALD LEE GRAHAM, 76, formerly of Lima, died Dec. 11, 2006, at his
residence. He was born July 11, 1930, in Massillon to Lee Edward and Wilma
L.. Miller Graham, who preceded him in death.
He married Sarah Feltner. He then married Barbara Smith, who survives.
Mr. Graham was retired from Northfolk Southern Railroad. He was a member of
the United
Methodist Church at Orange City, Fla., and a former member of Forest Park
United Methodist Church in Lima. He was a Marine veteran. Survivors also
include two sons
Ron (Daphne) Graham, of Spokane, Wash., and Keith Graham, of Lima; a
stepson, Craig Doyle, of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; a daughter, Sandra
Graham, of Lima;
a stepdaughter, Cindy Joseph, of Lima; 16 grandchildren; and nine
great-grandchildren. Services will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Chiles-Laman
Funeral Homes,

Harold C. McMullen, 78, 711 Madison, Died 7:30 a.m. today in his home.
Born July 23, 1892, in Spring Hope, Pa., he had lived in Lima since 1912. He married Alice Mitchell, who survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Helen Shepherd of Galion, Mrs. Dorothy Conley of 517 N. Baxter, Mrs. Richard (Ruth) Bartlett of Madison,
Wis., and Mrs. Dwight (Jean) Long of 217 Devonshire; three sons, Sterling E. of 711 Madison, Russell of Washington, Mich., and Jack of Galion; one step brother
Merrity Makin of 2223 Wellesley Dr.; 28 grand children and 16 great-grandchildren.

ALICE MEDA MITCHELL MCMULLEN
 
Alice McMullen, 80, formerly of 711 Madison, died Sunday noon in the Oaks Convalescent Home.
Born June 18, 1895 in Athens, She was the daughter of George and Anna Mitchell. Her husband, Harold C., died in 1970.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Blue Star Mothers and the Knights of Pythias Lodge.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs., Helen Shepherd of Galion, Mrs., Dorothy Conley of 711 Richie, Mrs. Richard (Ruth) Bartlett of Madison, Wisc.,
and Mrs. Dwight (Jean) Long of Clearwater, Fla.; three sons, Jack of Ashland, Sterling of 711 Madison and Russell of Washington, Mich.;22 grandchildren,
33 great-great grandchildren and 3 great-great-great grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Siferd Westwood Chapel, Rev. Willard Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call after 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

DOROTHY A. CONLEY, 85, died at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 3, 2006, at Oct. 3, 2006, Springview Nursing Home Lima Allen
She was born Feb. 2, 1921, in North Olmstead to Harold Cletus and Alice Meda Mitchell McMullen, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Conley was a homemaker and had managed a restaurant in the American Mall. She enjoyed sports.
Survivors include five sons, Michael (Elizabeth) Lewis of Spencerville, Jeff (Pam) Lewis of Cridersville, David (Maria) Lewis of San Angelo, Texas,
and Joel Baker and Jack Baker, both of Cincinnati; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Bartlett of Madison, Wis.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Sterling, Russell and Jack McMullen; and three sisters, Marie Carmichael, Helen Shepherd and Jeanne Long.
Memorial services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Church of God at the Cross Roads. Pastor Don Medley will officiate. Burial of the cremains will
be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation, the Diabetes Foundation, the American Heart Association,
the Cancer Society, St. Rita's Hospice or the activities fund at Springview Manor Nursing Home.

Sterling E. McMullen, 61 of 711 Madison Ave., died at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Rita's Medical Center.
He was born April 3, 1918, in North Ridgeville, to Harold C. and Alice M. Mitchell McMullen.
He was a retired employee of the Sheller-Globe Corp., and Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a member
of the Western Ohio Horsemen Association.
He is survived by two brothers, Russell McMullen of Washington, Mich., and Jack McMullen of Ashland; and four sisters, Mrs. Helen Shepherd of Galion,
Mrs. Dorothy Conley of Lima, Mrs. Ruth Bartlet of Madison, Wis., and Mrs. Jeanne Long of Palm Harbor, Fla.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thrusday at the Siferd Westwood Chapel, Rev. Willard Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call today from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Jack W. McMullen, 73, died the evening of Feb. 18, 2002, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Ashland following a short illness.
He was born Jan. 1, 1929, in North Ridgeville to Harold and Alice Mitchell McMullen, who preceded him in death. He married Martha M. Ford, IN Lima , Ohio who survives.
Mr. McMullen was founder and president of Ohio Electric Control Inc., Ashland. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Utica, Mich., American Legion Post 88
and Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 1360. He was a member of the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program for more than 30 years. He was instrumental in
and a big supporter of youth sports programs in the Ashland County area. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II.
Survivors also include two sons, Bob (Vicki) McMullen of Ashland and Jim (Brenda) Filak of Polk; two daughters, Debbie (Mike) Blubaugh of Galion and Becky (John)
Frawley of Ravenna; two sisters, Ruth Bartlett of Madison, Wis., and Dorothy Conley of Lima; and 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Sterling and Russell McMullen; and three sisters, Marie Carmichael, Helen Shepherd and his twin, Jeanne Long.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Van Hove Funeral Home, Ashland. The Rev. Paul Walter will officiate.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where a Masonic service will be held at 9 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1605 County Road 1095, Ashland, OH 44805, or the charity of the donor's choice.

HELEN LOUISE SHEPHERD, 80, Lima, died at 1:20 a.m. April 27, 1997 at Richland
ManorShe was born Nov. 16, 1916 in Lima to Harold McMullen and Alice Mitchell.
On Nov. 21, 1938, she married Delmar Jeremiah Shepherd, who is deceased.
Mrs. Shepherd was an inspector for Galion Aamco and a member of West Elm
United Church of Christ.
Survivors include three sons, Jerry (Elva) Shepherd and Donnie (Susan)
Shepherd, both of Lima, and Michael (Bonnie) Shepherd of New Milford, Conn.;
two brothers, Russell McMullen of Fort Myers, Fla. and Jack McMullen of
Ashland; three sisters, Dorothy Conley of Lima, Ruth Bartlett of Madison,
Wis., and Jean Long of Clearwater, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; and 10
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Carmichael, and a brother,
Sterling McMullen.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Siferd Westwood Chapel.
Burial will be in Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

DELMER JEREMIAH (DICK) SHEPHERD
Delmer ( Dick) Shepherd 56, of 1017 N. Adams , died Wednesday at 11:00 a.
m. in Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient one day. Born Jan.15,
1917 in Lima , he was the son of Cary and Nora Chambers Shepherd both of
1017 N. Adams. He was married to the former Hellen McMullen, who survives
in Galion. Mr. Shepherd was a construction worker and veteran of World War
II. He was a member of First Assembly of God. Also surviving are three
sons, Jerry R. of 2476 Stewart Rd., Donnie L. of 140 W. Kirby,and Michael
L. of Port Blancard, PA; one brother Floyd H. of 3080 Johnston Rd; two
sisters, Mrs Leroy ( Virginia) Gesler and Mrs Betty J. Farler of 2145 Old
Dixie Hwy.; and 10 grandchildren. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m.
Saturday in First Assembly of God. Rev. Gilbert S. Harris officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends will call at the Lewis
Memorial Chapel Chiles and Sons-Laman, after 7 tonight.

VIRGINIA (GINNY) SHEPHERD GESLER
Virginia (Ginny) Gesler, 68, of Lima died on June 4, 1990 at 1:00 p.m. at her residence
after an extended illness. She was born 21 Jan, 1922 in Lima, the daughter
of Cary F. and Nora Chambers Shepherd. On the 29 May, 1941 she married
Leroy (Punch) Gesler who survives. Mrs Gesler was a former nurse in the
Offices of Drs. Talbot and Noble and Dr. J C. Chung. She was a member of
the First Assembly of God Church in Lima.
Survivors include a son Dennis L Gesler of Lima;  three daughters Mrs Thomas
(Nancy) Bowerman of Lima, Ms. Melinda (Mindy) Barhorst of Botkins ,and Mrs
David (Mickey )Hoffer of Angola, IN: eight grandchildren ; and a sister Mrs.
Betty Farler of Lima. Services will be at 1:00 p. m. at The First Assembly
of God Church, Rev.Jerry Hall Officiating. Burial will be in Bluelick
Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial
contributions may be made to the home health department of Lima Memorial
Hospital.

3 dead and 23 Injured in Area Holiday Mishaps. It reports of auto accidents and other area incidents of the Labor day weekend in the Lima area.

Mrs Joseph died at the Memorial Hospital
The accident which claimed the life of Mrs. Joseph occured at 12:45 p. m. Sunday on Route 25 ( Findlay Road )one mile northeast of Lima at the driveway of the
Lima Electric Motor Co. Mrs Joseph was a passenger in a car dievewn by her son Merle E.Joseph 36. Route 2. State highway patrolmen report Joseph was traveling east
and had started to turn into the driveway of the Lima Electric Motor Co.( Walter Joseph her husband worked there) when his car was struck by an automobile driven by Ronald B.
Conway, 18 Route 5, who was traveling west. The impact caused both cars to leave the highway.
Katheleen Ann Lentz 9 and her sister Linda 6 of 306 E. O' Conner Ave. were passengers in the Joseph car. Kathleen suffered a deep cut on the nose and bruises on the forehead.
Linda received a bruise on the left arm.
Driver of the Joseph car received severe lacerations on the scalp and multuple cuts and bruises on both arms and body. His condition was reported fair. The Lentz
sisters were released after treatment at the hospital. Hospital attaches reported Mrs. Joseph received a fractured skull, compound fracture of the left arm,and lacerations
on the face, body and legs. She died two hours after being admitted to the hospital. The injured were taken to the hospital in a Davis-Miller and Son ambulance.
Mrs Joseph is survived by her husband Walter H. Jospeh ; two sons Charles L. Bluffton, Merle E. at home,two daughters Mrs. Edwin Maag, Columbus Grove, and
Mrs. Edwin Lentz 806 E.O' Conner Ave; and 12 grandchildren . Services will be at 2:00p.m. Wednesday at the Chiles and Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Willard Thomas officating.
Burial will be in the Blue Lick Cemetery.

Walter M. Joseph 62, of 536 E. Franklin St. died at 11.05 p.m. Monday in his home. He had been ill eight weeks. Born 22 August 1899 in Allen County. Mr. Joseph
was a night watchman for Lima Electric Motor Co. Findlay Road. Surviving are two sons Charles L. Blufftonand Merle at home; two daughters Mrs. Edwin Maag , Columbus
Grove, and Mrs Edwin Lentz 306 E. Conners Ave.; his mother Mrs. Lydia Josephalso of 534 Franklin St.; four brothers Cloyd, Lafayette, Harry Route 5, Earl 634 Catnips Ave
and Ralph Route5; three sisters Mrs Charles M. Cook , Rimer, Mrs. O.k. Stration 1006 N. West St., and Mrs Voyt Lackey, Cario; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be held in the Suger Creek Church of the Brethren, of which he was a member, at 2:00p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Willard Thomas and Rev. Samuel Keller will officate
Burial will be in Blue Lick Cemetery. The body will remain in Chiles and Sons Funeral Home until time of the services.

Funeral services will be Wednesday afternoon in the Wayne Funeral Home in Dayton for Harley H. Rockhill 60, formerly of Lima, who died Saturday in Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton
of injuries received when a truck struck him. Burial will be in Blue Lick Cemetery. Rockhill reportedly was walking on the Harshmanville Road near Dayton when the accident occurred.
He was born in Rockport and had resided in Dayton for 19 years. Surviving are his widow Mary; a sister Mrs Sylvia Joseph Route 1; and a brother Clyde , Dayton
Harley Rockhill was a Pvt in the United States Army during World War I He served honorably with the US.Army 154 Depot Brigade

and had lived in the Lima district most of his life. He is survived by two sons Harley Rockhill and Clyde Rockhill Bryan: two daughters ,Mrs. Joseph Goldsmith
of Westminster and Mrs. Walter Joseph of Kalida. and many grandchildren Services will be held at 1:30 p. m. in the Lewis Funeral Home.

January 13, 1858 Surviving besides her husband are two sons , Harley Rockhill of Lima and Clyde Rockhill at home; two daughters Mrs. Sarah Goldsmith of Westminster
and Mrs. Sylvia Joseph of Van Wert;three brothers William and George Bailey both of Bath tp;James Bailey of Monroe-tp; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
