ATHENS CO., OH, DEEDS, VOL.2, 1792-1816. DEED -- Jeptha Dean From Wm Skinner To all people to whom the presents
shall come greeting, know ye that I William Skinner of Marietta in the
County of Washington for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred
dollars to me in hand, before the ensealing hereof well and truly paid by
Jephtha Dean of Athens county, yeoman, the receipt whereof I do hereby
acknowledge and myself therewith fully satisfied and contented, have
given, granted, bargained, sold, aliened, conveyed and confirmed, and by
these presents do freely, fully and absolutely give, grant, bargain, sell,
alien, convey and confirm unto him the said Jeptha Dean, his heirs and
assigns forever a certain lot or tract of land situate in said County of
Athens and is fractional lot No. twenty four in the fourth township of the
twelfth range and in sections No. twenty seven and twenty eight containing
by estimation two hundred and ninety two acres, and was drawn originally
in the name of Samuel Hitchburn, for the particular boundaries of which
references do hereby made to the plans, records, and surveys of the Ohio
Company. To have and to hold the said granted and bargained premises with
all the appurtenances, privileges and commodities to the same in any wise
belonging to him the said Jeptha Dean, his heirs and assigns forever, to
his and their only proper use, benefit and behoof forever. And I the said
William Skinner, for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators do
covenant to and with the said Jeptha Dean, his heirs and assigns, that
before the ensealing hereof I am the true, sole and lawful owner of the
above bargained premises and am lawfully seized and possessed of the same in my own proper right as a good perfect and absolute
estate of
State of Ohio, Washington County, Marietta April 11th Anno Domini 1811. The above named William Skinner, the signer and sealer of the above instrument, personally appeared and acknowledged the same to be his free and voluntary act and deed before me, Paul Fearing, Court of Common Pleas. Entered August 8th 1811.

that I Nimrod Hysell of Salisbury in Gallia County and the State of
Ohio, do for and in consideration of one hundred dollars to me paid in
hand by David Thomas of Salisbury in Gallia County the receipt whereof I
do hereby acknowledge myself satisfied and content therewith I have have
bargained and sold and by these presents do alien, convey and confirm to
the said David Thomas his heirs and assigns a certain tract
or parcel of land lying in Salisbury and County of Gallia and containing
forty acres it being the Easterly part of two fifth divison Lots numbered
three hundred and twenty and three hundred and twenty one in the Ohio
Companys purchase, which land is bounded as follows, to wit: beginning
near the East Bank of the right hand fork of Leading Creek, sixteen rods
west of the south East corner of Lot number three hundred and twenty one,
thence west one hundred and twenty rods, thence North seventy two rods
five links, thence East Eighty one rods to the East bank of the above
Creek, thence Southerly with the meanders of said Creek to the place of
beginning, the same containing forty acres. To have and to hold the aforesaid
tract of land with all In presence

ATHENS CO., OH, DEEDS, VOL.2, 1792-1816 DEED -- Elisha Miller from Camp, Russell and others -- To all people to whom these presents
shall come, greeting, know ye that we Talcott Camp of Whitestown, Samuel
L. Russell and Eunice Russell of Farir? and Sylvester Camp and Farnel Camp
of Westmoreland, all in the County of Oneida and State of New York and
Guernsey Bates, Anne Bates, Davis Camp, Anna Camp, and Damaris Camp, of
Durham, County of Middlesex and State of Connecticut, for the
consideration of four hundred and fifty dollars received to our full
satisfaction of Elisha Miller of the town of Middletown, County of
Middlesex and State of Connecticut, do give, grant, bargain, sell and
confirm unto him the said Miller, his heirs and assigns forever, one
certain tract or parcel of land containing three hundred and twenty acres
situate on the Hockhocking river in the state of Ohio in the Ohio
Company's Purchase which is on half of the Mile Square No.2 drawn in the
name of Abraham Scrantom? one of the proprietors of the Ohio Company and
is that part of the Mile Square No.2 which until the ensealing of these
presents was owned by the aforesaid grantors, it being the one half of the
said mile square lying on the west side, bounded East in the other half of
said mile square belonging to the school society in said Durham, south on
section on section No. 1 West on section No. 2, north on section No. 3 as
on the books and plats of the Ohio Company, reference being had thereunto
will more fully appear. to have and to hold the above granted and
bargained premises thereof unto the said Miller, his heirs and assigns
forever to his and their own proper use and behoof; and also we the said
grantors do for ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators,
covenant with the said Miller, his heirs

ATHENS CO., OH, DEEDS, VOL.2, 1792-1816. DEED -- Abbott From Skinner and Cutler . To all people to whom these presents may come Greeting; whereas John Abbott of Athens in the County of Athens and State of Ohio here by has filed his bill in Chancery in the Court of Common Pleas for said County of Athens against Ephraim Cutler and William Skinner both of the County of Washington and State of Ohio setting forth said action? that they were or pretended to be possessed of a freehold estate on fee simple which he held in fee simple with the appurtenances situate in the County of Athens aforesaid being one hundred acres of lot No. three hundred and fifty three of the fifth division of lands known by the Ohio Company's purchase and that they being willing and desirous sell the same land to said John on or about the month of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and four, after several ??????? had for that purpose came to an agreement with said John for the absolute sale of said land with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging to and whereas said bill was continued from Court to Court and finally taken by appeal to the Supreme Court made the decree following in the premises to wit, "Decreed that the said E. Cutler and Wm Skinner shall by a good deed conveying the fee simple estate of said piece of land with good and sufficient covenants of seizing and possession on or before the first day of November next convey to the said John Abbott, his heirs and assigns an absolute title to the lot or parcel of land before described in complainant's bill here and shall also pay to the said John the sum of fifty dollars by the time aforesaid and in case the said Ephraim and William shall fail to convey the premises aforesaid until after the first day of November next and to pay said sum of fifty dollars, then it is further ordered and decreed that the said Ephraim and William pay to said John five hundred dollars on or before the third day of November next; now know ye, that we, the above named Ephraim Cutler and Wm. Skinner in consideration of the premises do give, grant and convey unto the said John Abbott, his heirs and assigns the aforesaid one hundred acres of land viz. Beginning at a point or station on the North and South line which forms the western boundary of said fifth division lot, so far North from the Southwest corner thereof as that the said one hundred acres shall be included in that point or station on the North and South line which form the eastern boundary of said fifth division and the other lines and points hereafter mentioned, thence due east to the said point or station on the said North and South line which forms the said eastern boundary of the said fifth division, thence South to a part set, or to be set, as the southeastern corner of said fifth division, thence due west to a part set, or to be set, at the southwestern corner of said fifth division, thence due North to the place of beginning. To have and to hold the said premises with their appurtenances to the said John, his heirs and assigns as an estate in fee simple forever and furthermore we the said Ephraim and William do ????? and severally covenant to and with the said John that at and until the ensealing of these presents we are well seized of the premises and we do further covenant to and with the said John that at and until the ensealing hereof we are well possessed in law of the premises. ATHENS CO., OH, DEEDS, VOL. 3, 1812-1818. pg. 450/451. POWER OF ATTORNEY -- Samuel S. Russell and others -- Know all men by these presents that whereas we Samuel S. Russell and Eunice Russell of the town of Guilford, County of New Haven and State of Connecticut and Guernsey Bates, Anne Bates, and Damaris Camp of the Town of Durham, County of Middlesex and State of Connecticut are possessed by the demise of our Father Elanthan Camp, late of Durham in the County of Middlesex and State of Connecticut as will appear by the will of said Elnathan decd of an undivided share of certain lands situate in the State of Ohio in the Ohio Company's Purchase so called. Now know ye, that we the said Saml S. Russell, Eunice Russell, Guernsey Bates, Anne Bates and Damaris Camp have made, constituted and appointed and by these presents do make, constitute and appoint our Brother Denis Camp our true and lawful attorney for us and in our name to sell or dispose of our share of said lands and to convey the same absolutely in fee simple for such sum of money as he shall think fair and also for us and in our name to seal, execute and deliver all proper deeds, conveyances, bargains and sales, for the absolute sale and disposal of the same or any part thereof with such clauses, covenants and agreements as our said attorney shall think ??? and expedient hereby ratifying and confirming all such deeds, bargains and sales which shall act? any time hereafter be reached and executed by our said attorney touching or concerning the premises.
