Wapakoneta

EVERETT A. "SMOKEY" WELCH, 61, died at 12:35 p.m. Dec 22, 1996, at St Rita's   Medical  Center  . He was born Jan.15,1935, in   Bradshaw ,  Neb.  , to Harold and Erma (Klawitter) Welch. His mother survives in Wapakoneta. On March 20, 1956, he married Waneta  F. Sunderland, who survives. Mr. Welch had worked with Mid Bus Inc. Bluffton. He was a member of the   First  United  Methodist  Church  , Wapakoneta, and its Disciple Bible Study Class. He was a member of Eagles Aerie 691, Wapakoneta. He was a Navy veteran. He coached Little League baseball in the Wapakoneta city summer league. Survivors also include a daughter, Judy (Shawn) Sealscott of Wapakoneta; a  brother, Duane Welch of Wapakoneta; two sisters,  Barbara Cramer and Evelyn Jones, both of Wapakoneta; and a granddaughter. Services will begin at 10:30 am, Friday at the   First  United  Methodist  Church  , Wapakoneta. The Rev. Joe Chrisman will officiate. Burial will be in   Resthaven  Memory  Gardens  , near Moulton, with military rites by the Wapakoneta VFW. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Bayliff and Eley Funeral Home, Wapakoneta, where an Eagles memorial service will begin at 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wapakoneta Recreation Department.

VIOLET MARIE ESCHMEYER, 75, of New   Knoxville  , died at 9 a.m. June 16, 2001, at her residence. She was born Oct. 16, 1926. in Van Wert to Forrest A. and Violet Marie (Brotherwood) Thomas. On Sept. 13, 1947, she married Eldred L. Eschmeyer, who died May 20, 1997. Mrs. Eschmeyer was a registered nurse, retiring from Heritage Manor, Minster. She was a member of  First  United  Church of Christ, New   Knoxville  .Survivors include one son, Bruce (Ellen) Eschmeyer of New Knoxville; three daughters, Susan Warner of  Newark , Barbara (William)   Shelby  of Sunbury and Lynn (Ron) Schweitzer of Wapakoneta; 10
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Forrest Thomas. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at  First  United  Church of Christ, New   Knoxville  . Burial will be in   Pilger  Ruhe  Cemetery  . Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Vornholt-Miller Funeral Home, New Knoxville. Memorial contributions may be made to the   Romania  Mission of the church.


Mrs. Hattie Reed Schillinger, 64, resident of St. Marys, died at 9:45 a.m. Thursday in St. Rita's hospital of complications following surgery in the hospital Monday.

The widow of David Schillinger, she had been a life-long resident of the St. Marys district. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Walnut Grove Methodist church, near St. Marys, with Rev. C. O. Good officiating. Burial in Elmgrove cemetery, St. Marys. The body will remain at the C. B. Miller and Son funeral home, Spencerville, until time of services.

Wapakoneta -

Charles Weitz, of this city, died Thursday at the age of 77. A native of Hessen, Darmstadt, Germany, he came to this country when a young man, and after a successful number of years as a farmer, retired to a residence in Wapakoneta. He is survived by his wife, a son Fred, and a daughter, Mrs. George Knatz, residing in Washington township. Funeral services Saturday afternoon from the Evangelical Lutheran church, burial in Greenlawn cemetery.


Kirk Patrick Evans,34,of Houston, Texas, died at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Houston.
He was born July 18,1958,the son of John and Barbara Ann (Bryan) Evans, who survive in Cridersville. Mr. Evans was property acquisition agent for Houston Cel­lular Inc. He previously worked for Musicland in Lima, and was active with Encore Theater. He attended Shawnee schools and graduated from Wapkoneta High School in 1976.
Survivors also include four brothers, John Evans of Ann Arbor, Mich., Cole Evans and Keith Evans, both of Cridersville, and Brad Evans of Sarasota, Fla.; and two sisters, Nancy Evans and Diane Sue Montgomery, both of Sarasota, Fla.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sun­day at St. Matthews Lutheran Church. There will be no visita­tion.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita's Hospice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Siferd Funeral Homes.

Survivors include her brother, Maxie Hubbard of Prestonburg, Ky., her husband Carl; a son James Crisp of Wapakoneta; and four grandchildren.

Gladys M. Colvin, 81, died at 11:03 a.m. Tuesday in Joint Township Hospital.
Survivors include two sisters, Mary Jane Colvin of here and Mrs. Ada M. Anselman of Celina.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Yoder-Long Funeral Home. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery, Monticello.

Charles Fisher, 84, who resided with his son, Paul, died Friday midnight in St. Rita's hospital at Lima after a week's illness.
A native of St. Marys, he was born Feb. 22, 1861, and moved to Wapakoneta in 1923.  Besides his son here,  he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. F. F. Kuck of Perrysburg, and two other sons, Carl of Russells Point and Walter, of Flint, Mich.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Siferd and Brookhart funeral home with Rev. George F. Weissling. Interment in Elm Grove cemetery.

George Kress, 71, Botkins, retired farmer who was admitted to St. Rita's hospital Saturday with
a .32 calibre revolver bullet wound in his body, died at 10 p. m. Monday. He was born Feb. 17, 1871, near Wapakoneta and on May 31, 1916, married Clara Slaute, who survives. There were no children. Surviving are a brother, John of Wapakoneta; two sisters Mrs. Dora Roth, Wapakoneta and Mrs. Emma Varner,   Dayton  . He was a member of the Married Couple's group and   St. John's  society of Immaculate Conception church in Botkins. Mass will be celebrated at 9 a. m. Wednesday in the church at Botkins, followed by burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. D. E. Depenbrock will be celebrant of the mass. Burial will be in charge of  HeinI  and Son, Wapakoneta.

Gilva Mae Kellerman, 73, of Rt. 4 died at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday in at. Rita's Hospital, Lima.
Born Jan. 8, 1900, in Auglaize County, she was the daughter of Charles and Martha ( Wagoner)
Croft. She married James W. Kellerman in 1917, and he survives.
Survivors also include two daughters, Mrs. Everett (Onnolee) Stroh of St. Marys and Mrs. Austin (Eloise) Hoverman of Satellite Beach, Fla.; two sons Charles and Gorden K., both of Rt. 4; seven grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Deicia Zim­merman of SpencervilIe and Mrs. Fred (Leona) Binkley of Kossuth.
She was a member of the Buckland United Church of Christ and the B. T.C. class. Services will be at 1: 30 p.m. Saturday in the Bayliff and Son Funeral Home,CridersviIle, Rev. John Kim officiating. Burial will be in Fort Amanda Cemetery.

William H. Kellerman, 80, of Lima, died at 1 p.m. Sunday at his home. He was born Oct. 19, 1911, in Auglaize County, the son of Charles and Kathryn (Fortman) Kellerman. He married Naomi A. Dodge, who died Dec. 15, 1972.Mr. Kellerman was a foundry worker with Minster Machine Co., where he retired in 1973. He was a 50-year member of Eagles Lodge 370. Survivors include a stepson, Edward Dodge of Lima; four step-grandchildren; nine step- great-grandchildren; A step granddaughter, Jody Haiber of Lima, helped with his care. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Lewis Memorial Chapel of Chiles and Sons-Laman Funeral Homes. Burial will follow in Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen. Friends may call 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Sandra Jean Reed, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn W. Reed of Waynesfield, died Tuesday afternoon at the residence an hour after birth. She is survived by her parents and her grandparents. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Wednesday at the Van Horn funeral home with Rev. H. C. Carpenter; of Russell Point, officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Hills cemetery, cast of   New
Hampshire.

WAPAKONETA - Harold J. Presar, 60. died at 7:05 am. Sunday at his home following an ex-tended illness. He was a farmer. Born March 23. 1915. in Auglaize County, he was a son of David and Caroline Lunz Presar. On May 9, 1935, he married Ruth Stinebaugh, who survives.
Survivors also include a son. Bert of Rt. 2; a daughter. Mrs. Mike (Nancy) Westbay of Waterville; five grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Orville (Florence) Ruck of here; and three brothers. Emil of Rt. 2, Melvin of Los Angeles, Calif., and Howard of Van Wert.
He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ. Services will be at 10 30 a.m.
Wednesday in the church. Rev. Harold Thiedt officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Siferd Funeral Home and at the church after 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the St. Paul United Church of Christ Memorial fund.

WAPAKONETA — Mrs. Mary K. Presar, 87, died at 11 a.m. Sunday in her home. Born April 10, 1887, in Auglaize County, she was a daughter of William and Elizabeth Schroeder Brautigam. On Sept. 27, 1910, she married Henry F. Presar, who survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Pauline Presar, at home.
She was a life member of St. Paul United Church of Christ  and the Women's Guild of the  church.  Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Siferd Funeral Home, Rev. Harold Thiedt officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9
tonight at the funeral home.

WAPAKONETA - Viola Presar, 7S,died at 4:40 a.m. Sunday at Wapakoneta Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Sept. 7, 1904, in Auglaize County, the daughter of Fred and Balbina Gehert Seitz. On Nov. 21,1922, she married Edwin Presar, who died June 8,1970.
Mrs. Presar was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Robert [Elinor Jane) Hemmelgam of Dayton; two grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Hubert (Alvina) Zimmerman and Mrs. T.W. (Edna)
Burgoon. both of Wapakoneta. Services will be a 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul United Chnrch of Christ, Pastor Harold Thiedt officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.

WAPAKONETA - Funeral services for Carl W. Presar, 84, formerly of Route 6, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bayliff flt Son Funeral Home, Cridersville, Rev. Eugene Wetzel officating. Mr. Presar died at 10:15 p.m. Monday at Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.
Bom Oct. 9, 1898, in Auglaize County, he was the son of Charles and Catherine George Presar. He married Beulah Geraldine Emnck on June 20, 1923, and she died on Jan. 14, 1967. Mr. Presar was a farmer, a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ and a life member of the American Aberdeen Angus Association. Survivors include three sons, C.
Kenneth Presar of Charlotte, N.C., Richard Deane Presar of Mount Clemens, Mich., and Lt. Col. Don Lynn Presar of Fairfax, Va.; a daughter, Mrs. Norman (June Elaine) Garrett of Crossville, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; and seven great- grandchildren. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. BOTKINS - Mrs. Leona Meckstroth, 79, or Rt. 1 died at 7:40 a.m. Tuesday at Joint
Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys. She is survived by her husband Harry; and one son, Robert of Lancaster, of Lancaster.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First United Church of Christ, New Knoxville, Rev. Gary Kwiatek officiating. Burial will be in Pilger-Ruhe Cemetery. Friends may call at the Bornholt Funeral Home after 1 p.m. Thursday and until 11 a.m. Friday when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until the time of the services. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

ST. Marys - Alfedor J. Doenges, 70, of here, died at 6:40 a.m. Tuesday at St. Rita's Medical Center , following a two week illness. He was born Oct. 15, 1915, in Auglaize County , the son of Harry C. and Alice L. Schroeder Doenges. On March 2, 1940, he married Helen C. Claus, who survives. 
Mr. Doenges was retired from PK Building Center of St. Marys and was a member of St. Paul 's United Church of Christ. 
Survivors also include three daughters, Jean Cook of Dothan, Ala., Mrs. Roman (Diana) Steinbrunner of Chickasaw and Carol A. Doenges of Celina; six grandchildren; one brother, Nelson N. Doenges of Celina; and one sister, Mrs. William (Corrine) Witham of Doylestown. Services will be at 1:30 p.m.
Friday at Miller Funeral' Home, St. Marys, Rev. Earl Vore officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery . Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

ST. MARYS, Nov: 4—Roy Mallory, 54, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Mallory. St. Marys, died at a Fremont hospital. He is survived by his wife and two children; five brothers. James L, Wilbur, and Dewey Mallory, St. Marys; .Charles Mallory, Lima, and Ada Mallory, Elyna, and one sister, Mrs. Harvey Schroeder, Dayton. Funeral services were hold Sunday afternoon in Fremont and burial was in Lima.

Mrs. Sophia Lusk, 73. died at a. m. Thursday at the home of her son, Wilbur R. Lusk 404  1/2 N. Main-st, of complications after an illness of one week. 
Born in Auglaize-co, Mrs. Lusk had made her home here for the past 18 months. She is survived by two daughters. Mrs. J. C. Elsass, Wapakoneta; Mrs. Jacob Zorn, Jackson Center ; one brother, A. E. Helminger. Botkins; two step-sisters, Mrs. Edna Carter, Wapakoneta, and Mrs. Erma Parlette, Adrian ,
Mich. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Saturday at the Cantwell funeral home. Burial will be in Fairmont cemetery, Auglaize-co. The body will remain at the funeral home until time of the services.

WAPAKONETA, Nov. 7—Mrs. Jacob Zwiebel, 43, died early Thursday in Lima Memorial hospital, where she had been a patient for a week, following an extended illness due to complications of diseases. She was a member of St. Paul 's Evangelical and Reformed church, and with her family lived on a farm southeast of here where they went to live several years ago from this city. Surviving are the husband; two sons, Robert and Paul at home; a daughter, Maxine, at home; three brothers, Lawrence, Carl and Harold Kohler; a half brother, Fred Kohler, and a sister, Mrs. Raymond Zwiebel, all of this city and vicinity. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

ST. MARYS, April 21. —Mrs. Chris Thieman. age 81, died Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harry Clausing, E. Spring-st., with whom she had been living for more than a year She had been ill some months. Mrs. Thieman came here from New Bremen where she had lived the greatest part of her life. She is survived by four children; Mrs. Clausing, Mrs. Fred Timmerman, of New Bremen; Leo Thieman of Delaware and Ewald Trieman of Baldwin, Mich.

Mrs. Samuel Stiles, 69 years old, sister of Mrs. Elizabeth Waggoner, Frank Spees, and Emmett Spees of Lima , died at her home in Uniopolis, at 4.-o'clock Monday afternoon from cancer, with which she had been ill for four months. Mrs. Stiles passed her fifty-ninth birthday anniversary nine days before her death. The widower, two daughters,  Mrs. John Nauss of Uniopolis, and Mrs. Clarence Barton; of Columbus, two grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Waggoner, Lima; Mrs. Martha Burdon, Toledo , and Mrs. Sarah Folht. Madison , Kansas , and three brothers, Frank and Emmett Spees of Lima , and Daniel Spees of Norwalk , Ohio , survive. The funeral will be held in Uniopolis, at 1:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon.

Mrs. Minerva King McPheron,  aged 81 years, widow of Jacob McPheron. died at the home of her son John McPheron. 411 south Pine street , at 7:50 o'clock Sunday morning, after a two weeks' illness, due to general debility.

Mrs. McPheron was born in Pennsylvania November 20, 1835. She had lived in this section for many years. Four sons, John, at whose home she died; Milton and Alpheus, also of Lima, and Aaron, of Shawnee township, and one daughter, Mrs. Alice Gilroy, of Lima, survive. 
Funeral services will be held from John McPheron's residence at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning. Rev. W. J. Dunham will officiate. Interment will be made In Morris Hill cemetery, near Waynesfield.

Isabel BodeIl, 62, of 1830 E. Elm, died at 12:45 am. Sunday in Lima Memorial Hospital .

Born June 6, 1915, in Waynesfield, she was a daughter of Edward A and Laura Krebs Shaw. Her mother survives here. She married Samuel L. Bodell who survives. 

Other survivors include a son. Bud of Defiance; two grandchildren a sister, Mrs. Gene (Martha) Kobler of here, and two brothers.. Gene Shaw of Rapidan , Va. , and Maxwell Shaw or Waynesfield.

She attended the Church of God . Services will he at 2 p.m. Tuesday in McAuley Funeral Home, Waynesfield, Rev. William W. Robins officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery near Waynesfield

LAKE VIEW - Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at McAuley-Robinson Funeral Home, for Gerald I. (Budd) Newland, 62 of here. He died at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lima Memorial Hospital . He was born Sept. 9, 1924, in Lima , the son of Walter and Viola Red Newland. On Nov. 24, 1950, he married Sally Zeigler who survives. 
Mr. Newland retired from Air-stream in 1968. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 8832, Roundhead, Disabled American Veterans, Wapakoneta, American Legion Post 93, Kenova, West Va. , and Lakeview React Club. He was an Army veteran of World War II. 
Survivors include one daughter Mrs. James (Kathryn) Adkins of Flatwoods , Ky. ; four grandsons; one brother, Walter Newland of Russells Point ; and two sisters, Dolores Harrod of Arlington , Texas and Betty Butler of Lakeview.

Rev. Don Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Willow Branch Cemetery , Waynesfield.

Friends may call 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.
