Gerald I. Newland
LAKE VIEW - Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at McAuley-Robinson Funeral Home, for Gerald I. (Budd) Newland, 62 of here. He died at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born Sept. 9, 1924, in Lima, the son of Walter and Viola Red Newland. On Nov. 24, 1950, he married Sally Zeigler who survives. Mr. Newland retired from Air-stream in 1968. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 8832, Roundhead, Disabled American Veterans, Wapakoneta, American Legion Post 93, Kenova, West Va., and Lakeview React Club. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include one daughter Mrs. James (Kathryn) Adkins of Flatwoods, Ky.; four grandsons; one brother, Walter Newland of Russells Point; and two sisters, Dolores Harrod of Arlington, Texas and Betty Butler of Lakeview.
Rev. Don Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Willow Branch Cemetery, Waynesfield.

Henry "Josh" Nichols, 82, died at 1:45 a.m. July 9. 2001, at his residence. He was born Dec. 29,1918, in Prestonsburg , Ky. , to Tobe and Martha Stricklin Nichols. On May 25,1946, he married Ruby Roop, who survives.
Mr. Nichols retired as a machinist from Wapak Machine Co. after 27 years. He attended Wapakoneta Church of the Nazarene. He was an Army Veteran of World War II. He enjoyed woodworking. Survivors also include two sons: a daughter; 1 brother. and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister. Edna Clark. Services will begin at 10:30 a..m. Thursday at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, Wapakoneta. The Rev. Stephen Smitley will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8445. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. [Lima News, Jul 10, 2001]
