Urbana, O., Jan 4- Beal Highwarden, on trial for killing his divorced wife, was found guilty of murder in the second degree last night. He will be sentenced today. [

At Urbana, O., the 26th, Grant Jackson, a notorious colored tough, and the son of Postmaster Piatt met under the influence of liquor and renewed an old quarrel. Piatt struck Jackson on the head with a club, causing death. [The Argus (Caledonia, Houston, MN), December 30, 1893, page 1]

Urbana, O., Feb 19- Sheriff Saxbe took J. Frank Smith, the young express car robber, to the penitentiary yesterday to serve a seven years' sentence. John Garry, for burglary, was taken on a one year sentence. Champaign has sent four noted criminals within the last week. In addition to the above, Lester Broyles was taken for one year for the attempted forgery of a $26,000 check; Robert P. Alexander, three years, for passing counterfeit money.
