Company H

Researchers will find these rosters useful in determining in any given year, the available strength of each Company. Please keep in mind, it is estimated that on average 20-50% of a company's strength was either absent, sick, on furlough or other detached service. Many would become stragglers on extended marches. A company was sometimes divided into two platoons, one headed by the Captain and the other by the 1/Lt, with one of them possibly detached as a group. Morning reports for this Regiment have not been located and each soldier's status on any given date cannot be determined.

I have tried to be as diligent as possible, but inevitably errors and omissions will be found. I accept responsibility and request to be notified when they are found so that appropriate corrections can be made. Each roster begins on Jan 25, 1862, the date the Regiment marched out of Camp Kenton, Ohio and boarded the train for Virginia. I have considered the soldiers listed on that date as original members. As in any Ohio Regiment, there were desertions. While forming, some would enlist then never show up. They didn't make the listed rosters. The first, after going to the field, was Worthington Kersey on June 1, 1862.
