E.B.
"Junior" Adkins, 69, died Saturday, April 14, 2007, at the
East Liverpool City Hospital.
Born Dec. 14, 1937 in West Hamlin, W.Va., he was the son of the late E.B.
Sr. and Opal Cummings Adkins.
Junior retired in 2000 after 32 years as a co-owner of the former Russ
Davis IGA in Chester. He was also a co-founder of the Chester-Newell
Area Chamber of Commerce and longtime member and past president of the
Chester Lions Club.
He graduated from Chester High School in 1956.
Preceding him in death on April 6, 1979, was his wife, Sally Canterbury
Adkins, whom he married on Jan. 9, 1960; a brother, Wiser Adkins; and
two sisters, Janice Johnson and Patty Miller.
Survivors include four sons, John (Heidi) Adkins of Chester, Paul
(Julie) Adkins of East Liverpool, Randall (Carissa) Adkins of Chester
and Rodney (Lori) Adkins of Inwood, W.Va.; one daughter, Cathy (Rich)
Shaffer of Sharpsburg, Md.; five brothers, Lyneol Adkins of Smithsferry,
Pa., Woodrow (Martha) Adkins of East Liverpool, Jack (Leah) Adkins of
Lisbon, James (Lynn) Adkins of Howard, Ohio, and John (Vicki) Adkins of
Chester; and four sisters, Betty Ray and Francis Davis, both of
Lexington, N.C., Mary Bevington of Va., and Sue ( Kenny) Warner of East
Canton, Ohio.
Also surviving are grandchildren Brian (Jami) Shaffer of Hagerstown,
Md., Chris Shaffer and Matt (Kara) Shaffer, both of Inwood, Joshua
Adkins, Erin Adkins, Katie Smith, Maggie Smith and Emily Smith, all of
Chester, Amanda Adkins and Lindsay Adkins, both of East Liverpool, Piper
Adkins of Chester, and Amanda and Kyle Garlow and great-grandchildren
Jesse, Damien and Madelyn.
Services will be held at 11a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at the Arner
Funeral Chapel in Chester followed by burial in Columbiana County
Memorial Park.
Friends may visit on Tuesday from noon to 8p.m.

MAY DEXTER ALLISON
Annie
May Allison, 87, of Blossom Lane, died at 7:45 p.m. Thursday, May 2,
2002, at Salem Community Hospital.
She
was born in East Liverpool, Oct. 26, 1914, a daughter of the late
Herbert Lee Dexter and Elsie May Mills. She had been employed at the
former TS&T Pottery and was a member of the Salvation Army Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Allison; and a son,
James Allison.
She is
survived by a son, Ennis 'Joe' Allison of Wellsville; three daughters,
Shirley Green of East Liverpool, Cecilia Austin of Ada, Okla., and Betty
Glynn of Salem; a sister, Margaret J. Blystone of East Liverpool; 19
grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and five great
great-grandchildren.
Captain
Tom Hinzman, Major Beeman, Major Miller and Al Voorhis will conduct the
services at 11 a.m. Monday at Stark Memorial Funeral Home. Burial in
Columbiana County Memorial Park. Visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

M. TALBOTT ALLISON
Mrs.
Beulah M. Allison, 85, of the Farm Hills Trailer Court died at 9:05
p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, 1992, in the emergency room at City Hospital
following a brief illness.
She
was born in New Cumberland May 12, 1907, a daughter of the late John
and Ida Bailey Talbot.
Mrs.
Allison spent most of her lifetime in Chester and Wellsville. She was
a member of the Emmanuel Ministries of Austintown, Ohio.
Her
husband, Harry B. Allison, whom she married in December 1929, died
Oct. 27, 1985. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Denver (Betty)
Shelton of East Liverpool; a son, Charles N. Allison of Wellsville; a
sister, Mrs. Claude (Esther) Woyan of Wellsville; a brother, John
Talbot of Negley; five grandsons and nine great - grandchildren.
The
Rev. David Verzilli, founder of the Emmanuel Ministries, is to conduct
services at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Dawson Funeral Home. Burial is
to be in Columbiana County Memorial Park. Friends may call at the
funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

BURGESS ALLISON
Byron
B. Allison, 67, of 628 Florida Ave., Chester, died Monday at 5:45 p.m.
at the East Liverpool Extended Care Center after a lingering
illness.
Mr.
Allison was born Feb. 4, 1913, in Pughtown, the son of the late
Burgess W. Allison and Alice Kessel Allison.
He
retired in 1978 from the accounting department of the Crucible Steel
Division of the Colt Industries at Midland. Mr. Allison was an Army
veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a life member
of the American Legion Post 121 where he served as commander and
adjutant, a member of the VFW Post 6450 of Chester, and a member of
the Westminster United Presbyterian Church.
In
addition to his wife, Mrs. Thelma Sayre Allison whom he married Sept
11, 1946, he is survived by on son, Byron (Pete) Allison at home; one
brother, Dale K. Allison of Chester, and one sister, Mrs. John H.
(Mary) Remley of Indianapolis.
Services
will be conducted Thursday at 10:30 a.m. from the Arner Funeral Chapel
of Chester, with Dr. George Espy of the Westminster Church
officiating.
Friends
may call at the Arner Chapel Wednesday afternoon and evening where the
family will be present from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Burial will be in
Columbiana Memorial Park where the Grant District Burial Group will
conduct military services.

Cecil
Allison, 72, of Lisbon St. died Thursday at 9:05 a.m. in City Hospital
following a three - month illness.
A
lifelong area resident, Mr. Allison was born Nov. 30, 1910, in
Chester, W. Va., a son of Ennis B. Allison and Annie V. Lyons
Allison.
He
worked at the former Youngstown Sheet & Tube and retired as a
mechanic from Al Green Motors. He was a former policeman for the City
of East Liverpool and Liverpool Township. He also was a former
volunteer fireman for Liverpool Township. He was a member of the
Salvation Army.
Besides
his wife, Mrs. Annie M. Dexter Allison at home, survivors include
three daughters, Mrs. Al (Shirley) Green of East Liverpool, Mrs.
Donald (Betty) Glynn of Salem and Mrs. Daniel (Cecilia) Owens of Ada,
Okla.; a son, Ennis L. "Joe" Allison of East Liverpool, four
sisters, Mrs. Ella Raffa of Wellsville, Mrs. Mabel Smith of Lisbon,
Mrs. Grace Campbell of Hookstown and Mrs. Robert (Anna) Hager of
Livonia, N.Y.; 16 grandchildren and eight great - grandchildren.
Services
are to be held Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at the Dawson Funeral Home by
Major Patricia Beeman and Major Patricia G. Miller. Burial is to be in
Columbiana County Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home
this afternoon and tonight and Saturday until time of the service.

E. ALLISON
Charles
E. "Chuck" Allison, 63, of Dresden Avenue died at 9 a.m.
Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, in the City Hospital emergency room.
Born
Dec. 13, 1943, in East Liverpool , a son of the late William C.
Allison Sr. and Gladys Ammon Allison, he was a lifetime area resident.
A U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he was a member of Moose Lodge
122 and American Legion Post 374. After retiring from the former
Crucible Steel Co. in 1982, he later co-owned the former Army-Navy
Club in East Liverpool . Most recently he had been working security at
Homer Laughlin China Co.
He
is survived by his wife, Patricia Dawn Pollack Allison, at home. Two
daughters, Kim Keyes and her husband, Jeffery, and Michelle Allison,
and a son, Greg Cunningham, all of East Liverpool , survive. Also
surviving are three brothers, William C. Allison Jr. and his wife,
Mary Lou, of Calcutta , Dan L. Allison and his wife, Mary Jo, of
Lehigh, Fla., and Richard A. Allison of East Liverpool. There are six
grandchildren: Matthew Stowers, Nicholas Stowers, Mallory Stowers,
Joshua Keyes, Sarah Keyes and Sydney May. In addition to his parents,
he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Lou Allison, and a
brother, John E. Allison.
Services
are to be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Dawson Funeral Home, where
friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Burial is to be
in Columbiana County Memorial Park.

CLARK M. ALLISON
The
Rev. Clark M. Allison, 97, of North Meadowbrook Circle died Monday
Aug. 24, 1998, at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh following a month -
long illness.
He
was born in Chester Oct. 20, 1900, a son of the late William Clark and
Belle Smith Allison. A lifelong resident of the Tri - State Area, he
was pastor of the Wellsville First Church of the Nazarene 56 years
before retirement in 1992. He also was a salesman 40 years for the
Keebler Cookie Co. before retirement in 1965. He was chaplain 20 years
at City Hospital and at the former Potters Medical Center. He was the
leader of the Allison Gospel Party, a tent meeting evangelistic
crusade, and host of the radio program under the same name. He was a
member of the Wellsville Ministerial Association and the Wellsville
Kiwanis Club.
He
was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Headley Allison, whom he
married April 8, 1921. He also was preceded in death by a daughter,
Miriam Louise Allison; two sons, Keith M. Allison and Judson W.
Allison; a brother, William J. Allison; and a sister, Zelphia
Stewart.
He
is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Eunice) Bowman of
Cleveland and Sue Allison Devon, at home; three grandchildren whom he
helped to raise, William Devon, Mrs. William (Becky) Sant and Mrs.
Mark (Yvonne) Trotter of East Liverpool; 10 more grandchildren; 21
great - grandchildren and a great - great - grandson.
The
Rev. Wayne Standley of the Wellsville First Church of the Nazarene,
the Rev. Larry Hall of the First Church of Christ (Disciples) and the
Rev. Jack Mumaw will conduct services at 2 p.m. Thursday at the
Wellsville church. Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park.
Friends
may call at the Martin Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon and evening
and at the church until the services Thursday. The family suggests
memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Wellsville

Clifford
B. Allison, 57, died Thursday at 11: 30 a.m. in his home, 713 West
Ninth st., following a long illness.
Mr.
Allison was employed by the Taylor, Smith & Taylor Co., and was a
member of the National Brotherhood of Operative Potters.
He
leaves his widow, Mrs. Norma Allison; two daughters, Mrs. George
Hornick and Mrs. Roy Justice of East Liverpool; a son, William Allison
at home; a sister, Mrs. Jessie Miller of Chester, and nine
grandchildren.
Funeral
services will be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. in the home by Rev. William
Mauts of the Anderson Methodist church, and Rev. J. Ray Thompson of
the Chester Methodist church. Burial will be in Columbiana County
Memorial park. Friends may call at the home.

EVELYN ALLISON
Eleanor
Evelyn Allison, 88, of Englewood died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 1998.
She
was born Oct. 10, 1909, in Butler, Pa. She lived most of her life in
East Liverpool before moving to Englewood in 1965.
She
was a telephone operator 15 years for the Ohio Bell Telephone Co. She
was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Englewood.
She
is survived by a daughter, Ruth Sharp of Columbus, Ohio; a son, Col.
Thayer W. Allison Englewood; a brother, Wayne Fair of Columbiana,
Ohio; a sister, Beryl Couch of Norwalk, Ohio; five grandchildren and
10 great - grandchildren.
Memorial
services will be held at 10 a.m. Sept. 8 at the Englewood Chapel of
Lemon Bay Funeral Homes. Inurment will take place at a later date in
Columbiana County Memorial Park in East Liverpool.
The
family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to

the infant daughter of Richard W. Allison II and Linda Connell Allison

The child was stillborn Friday at 12:26 p.m. at City Hospital.

R. Allison Taken Suddenly
Former Potter Found Dead After Shoveling Snow
Erwin R. Allison, 72, retired potter, died suddenly of a heart attack
late Thursday afternoon at his home on the
Sub - Station road in Glenmoor. Mr. Allison was found in the yard by his
granddaughter on her way home from school. He had collapsed while
shoveling snow for a path to the barn about a half hour being found.
Born In Hancock
A son of the late Charles Alexander Allison and Matilda Mercer Allison,
he was born Jan. 7, 1872, in Hancock county, and spent his entire life
in this community. He was a castor, and retired about 15 years ago. He
was active in affairs of the First Presbyterian church, having been a
ruling elder since 1920. He also was a Sunday school teacher for many
years. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Maud Vale Allison; three sons, Harold
J. Allison and Charles E. Allison, both of East Liverpool, and Edwin M.
Allison of Columbus; two daughters, Mrs. Wilbur Pittenger and Mrs.
Harold V. Betteridge, of East Liverpool; three brothers, Lawrence
Allison of East Liverpool, James Allison of Newell, and Hunter Allison
of Cleveland; one sister, Mrs. W. B. Thomas, also of East Liverpool,and
10 grandchildren.
Funeral Set Monday
Services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 in the Martin Funeral home
by Rev. Arthur E. French Jr., acting pastor of the First Presbyterian
church. Burial will be in the Columbiana County Memorial park. Friends
may call Saturday night and Sunday afternoon and night at the funeral
home.

M. ALLISON
Chester,
W.Va. -- Frank M. Allison, 76, of 233 Carolina Ave. died Sunday at
11:45 a.m. at home after a year's illness.
A
lifelong area resident, Mr. Allison was born Nov. 19, 1905, in
Hookstown, Pa., a son of George Allison and Alice Boyd Allison. He
retired in 1971 from the Homer Laughlin China Co., after 43 years'
service.
He
was a member of the Masonic Lodge 142, the Osiris Shrine in Wheeling,
Hancock County Lodge 14, Knights Templar of Weirton and the IBPAW,
where he served as secretary of Local 124 many years.
Besides
leaves his wife, Mrs. Margaret L. Seevers Allison, whom he married May
25, 1928, survivors include two brothers, Harry Allison of Wellsville
and Hugh Allison of Chester, and a sister, Mrs. Mildred White of
Newell.
Services
are to be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel by the
Rev. Clark Allison of the Wellsville Church of the Nazarene. Burial is
to be in Columbiana County Memorial Park in East Liverpool. Friends
may call at the chapel Tuesday afternoon and night.

NANCY
A. ALLISON
An
Honored Old Resident
Mrs. Nancy A. Allison Died Today at the Ripe Age of 88 Years.
Mrs. Nancy A. Allison, one of the oldest and most respected citizens of
this city, died at her home on Second street at 4 o'clock this morning,
aged 88 years. Her death resulted from infirmities of age. Her maiden
name was Nancy A. Goddard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Goddard, of
Beaver county, Pa., where she was born in 1820. Mrs. Allison was one of
14 children of whom she was the last survivor.
She
was married to the late William A. Allison, in 1844, in
West Virginia, and their life was one of happiness. They first resided
in Madison township, but later removed to this city. Mrs. Allison has
lived on Second street for the past 35 years. Her life was one of
simplicity and Christianity and she was particularly attached to her
home duties. She was a life long member of the Methodist Protestant
church and was faithful in the performance of her religious duties. She
was highly esteemed and had an extensive acquaintance. She is survived
by four sons. Lee, George and Blair, all of this city and Steen Allison,
of Avonmore, Pa., four daughters, Mrs. Oscar Bolles, Mrs. Ellen Gilson,
Mrs. Mary E. Johnson, and Mrs. Harriet Newman, all of this city. Two
step-sons Thomas and Richard Allison, of Iowa, and one step-daughter,
Mrs. Susan Bryan, of this city, also survive.
She
had 33 great-grandchildren and 48 grandchildren. The funeral services
will be held at the late home at 10 o'clock Saturday morning. Rev. G. H.
Sisson, pastor of the M. P. church officiating. Interment will be made
in the Madison cemetery.

F. APPLEGATE
Edwin
Franklin Applegate, 47, a lifelong resident of the East Liverpool
district, died suddenly Saturday at 7 p. m. at his home in Hillcrest,
Wellsville.
He
was born in East Liverpool and was an employee of the Railway Express
Co.
Surviving
are his widow, Mrs. Betty Applegate; his parents Charles Applegate and
Mrs. Gertrude Applegate of East Liverpool; a son, Richard Applegate of
Wellsville; two brothers, Lawrence Applegate and Earl Applegate of East
Liverpool, and two sisters, Mrs. Leona Hohman of Pittsburgh, and Mrs.
Virginia Lowe of Ontario, Calif.
Services
will be held Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. from the Martin Funeral Home with Rev.
Clark Allison, past of the Wellsville Nazarene Church, in charge,
assisted by Rev. A. L. Benedum, Akron District Superintendent.
Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery, Wellsville.

JOHN
M. ASHWORTH
John M. Ashworth Sr.,
76, of Kent, died at the Valley View Nursing Home in Akron on Jan. 7,
1990, after a nine-month illness.
He was born in
Buckannon, W. Va., Feb. 10, 1914, and was the son of the late Henry and
Margaret McCartney Ashworth. He had lived in the Akron area most
of his life. He had been employed as a welder for 37 years at the
Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., retiring in 1977. He was a
graduate of Morgantown High School in Morgantown, W. VA., and also
attended West Virginia State University. He was a veteran, serving
with the U. S. Army during World War II and had attended the
Baptist Church in Brimfield. He was a member of Disabled American
Vets, and was also a member of the Goodyear 25-Year Club.
He is survived by
his wife, Vera Cornell Ashworth, whom he married March 14, 1944.
He is also survived by son, John M. Ashworth Jr., of Akron, daughter,
Jane Lee Ashworth of Lewisburg, W. Va; brother, Dr. Wease L. Ashworth of
Buchannon, W. Va; sister, Mrs. Freda Mc-Clain of New Milton, W. Va; 10
grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by
son, Gareth A. Ashworth, in 1978; four brothers, and one sister.
Services will be
held at the Martin Funeral Home in East Liverpool on Friday, 1 p.m.,
Rev. Jan Ricketts officiating. Burial will follow at Columbiana
County Memorial Park. Friends may call Thursday, 2:30 to 4:30 and
7 to 9 p.m.
