JULIA K. LAMBRIGHT

Julia K. Lambright, 94, of Nentwick's Convalescent Center , formerly of St. Clair Avenue , died at 12:05 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, 2006 , at East Liverpool City Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Born in East Liverpool Feb. 28, 1912 , daughter of the late Herman Clyde and Celia Smith Lambright, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church of East Liverpool.

A 1931 graduate of East Liverpool High School , she was a life member of the East Liverpool High School Alumni Association and its Charter Club.

She retired from the Hoover Co. in Pittsburgh , where she had worked as a switchboard operator. At one time, she also worked at Pearl China Co.

She was involved with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).

Four cousins, Hugh Smith and his wife, Ruth Ann, of East Liverpool, Betty Birch of Elkton, Sylvia George and her husband, Jim, of Rogers and Bensley H. Smith of East Liverpool, survive.

A brother, Robert Lambright, preceded her in death.

Friends may call Monday at the Dawson Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.

Pastor Jon Truax of the church will conduct services at 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Calcutta United Presbyterian Church.

 GRIEF LAMPKIN

Grief (Gary) Lampkin of Smiths Ferry R. D. I. died this morning at 8:48 in City Hospital, following and illness of five days.  He was 73.

He was born in Chatham, Va., and had been resident of the Midland area and an employe of the Crucible Steel Co. for 30 years.  He was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Grey's Landing, Pa., and was a deacon of the church for the last 16 years.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. English Lampkin of Smiths Ferry; a son, Harvey Lee Lampkin of Smiths Ferry; six daughters, Mrs. Addie Lincoln of East Liverpool,  Mrs. Bertha Jarrett of Smiths Ferry, Mrs. Callie Euill of Wellsville, Mrs. Isabel Jordan of Gray's Landing, Mrs. Lucy Travers of Cleveland, and Mrs. Ellen Walsh of Orange, N. J.; a brother, Harries Lampkin of Chatham; three sisters, Mrs. Barbara Roy of Chatham, Mrs. Clara Swanson of Philadelphia, and Mrs. Stella Muse of New Jersey, and one grandson.

The body was removed to the Cannon Funeral Home in Midland.

Arrangements are incomplete.

GRIEF (GARY) LAMPKIN

Services for Grief (Gary) Lampkin of Smiths Ferry R. D. 1. who died Tuesday morning in City Hospital, will be held Saturday at 2:30 p. m. at the Cannon Funeral Home in Midland.

The Rev. Hubert Goodman, pastor of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, will officiate.  Burial will be in Beaver Cemetery.

He is survived by his widow, a son, six daughters, a brother, three sisters, 17 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 10 a. m. Thursday and on Friday at the funeral home.

MARY FRANCES LEAK

Mary Frances, the one-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Leak of East End, was called by death at about 5 o'clock last evening (March 24, 1911), following a brief illness of peritonitis.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon form the home of the child's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. T. W. McCain, 1033 Ohio avenue, East End. Rev. L. H. Lewellyn, pastor of the Second Presbyterian church, will officiate. Interment will be made in Spring Grove Cemetery.

Friends may view the remains this evening.

BETTY JANE HUNT LEDFORD

Betty Jane Hunt Ledford, 82, of Lake Shore Blvd. died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006, at Massillon Community Hospital following a brief illness.

She was born in East Liverpool January 15, 1924, a daughter of the late Fred Howard and Rachel Hunt Brown.

At one time a secretary at the former Star Furniture in East Liverpool, she retired in 1993 from Morrison Knudson Engineering in Cleveland.

She was Baptist by faith.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters; Margaret McKinney, Marian Carlisle, Odessa Hunt; and a brother, Clyde Hunt.

She is survived by a brother, Richard Hunt of Norwalk, Calif.

Funeral is 11 a.m. Friday at the Dawson Funeral Home with Evangelist Richard Chambers officiating.

Friends may call one hour prior to services at the Dawson Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in Calcutta United Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

LAWRENCE A. LITTLE

Lawrence A. Little of Annesley Road, Glenmoor, East Liverpool, died in his sleep early Saturday morning at his residence. He was 81.

Born in Brimstone Hollow, Bergholz, Ohio on August 23, 1925, he was the son of the late Sherman Allison Little and Emma Elisabeth Warden Little and moved to East Liverpool from Wellsville in 1966.

Prior to WWII, he was employed at former Sterling China before entering the U.S. Army on Nov. 9, 1943, seeing action in the Ardennes, the Rhinelands and Central Europe. He was discharged on February 12, 1946 with a Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal and three bronze battle stars.

Returning to Sterling China after the war, he later became employed at Crucible Steel where he worked 28 years as a hot scarfer and seven years as a roller in the Billett Mill where he was a foreman. He retired from Crucible in 1982 and in 1985 moved to Arizona where he was employed as a prison officer until 1990. Most recently, he was a chain-sharpener at Brian's Lawn Mower Repair in Glenmoor.

Mr. Little's memberships included, Hope Christian Fellowship, Masonic Lodge #180 of Wellsville, Royal Arch Masons Chapter #55 and Keramos Council #95 Royal and Select Masters. He was also a member of the Glenmoor American Legion and was an avid bowler, participating in the Old-Timers League on Tuesdays.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Taubert Little, whom he married on January 20, 1966 and a son Brian K. Little at home.

Two sons; Daniel James Little and Larry Mark Little, preceded him in death as did a stepson Dan Jones and a step-grandson Danny Jones, Jr.

He will also be remembered by his stepdaughter Karen Jones Trotter of Calcutta and a stepson Randy Jones of Wellsville.

There are eight step-grandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Dawson Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Ross of Hope Christian Fellowship officiating. Burial will follow at Calcutta U.P. Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday where a Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m.

Lunch will be served at the Dawson Family Center following services Wednesday.

JOHN LONGFELLOW

John Longfellow, former employee of the Crucible Steel Co. in Midland, died this morning at his home near Cook's Ferry following a long illness.  He was 66.

Mr. Longfellow had been a foreman in the Electrical Department. 

The body was removed to the Stewart Funeral Home at Hookstown. Arrangements are incomplete.

JOHN G. LONGFELLOW

Special funeral services for John G. Longfellow, 68, who died Friday morning at his home in Cook's Ferry, will be held Sunday night at the late home by the Odd Fellows Lodge of Midland.

Burial services will be held Monday at 2 p. m. from the late home by Rev. T. Duane Stewart, pastor of the midland Methodist Church.  Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Friends mays call at the Stewart Funeral Home in Hookstown tonight and at the late home after 10 a. m. Sunday.

The former turn foreman of the Electrical Department of the Crucible Steel Co., at Midland is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Arnold Johnson of Akron, Mrs. Floyd Sberman of Houlton, Me., Miss Mary Longfellow of Dayton; two sons, Technical Sergeant George M. Longfellow of the U. S. Marine Corps and Harry  Longfellow  at home; a sister, Miss Anna B. Longfellow of Gardiner, Me.,     and nine grandchildren.

Mr. Longfellow was a member of the Midland Odd Fellows and was a past deputy, a member of the Past Grand Association of  Beaver County and the Rebekah Lodge.
