View of Fort Defiance
FORT DEFIANCE, Defiance, Ohio.
"This view is old Fort Defiance, the lite and earthworks where "Mad Anthony" Wayne in 1794 once stood and said of the fort, "I defy the English, the Indians, and all the devils in hell to take it." Thus was the city of Defiance, the birthplace of Ponlioc, named.
This area includes picnic grounds, swimming pool, and playground at Kingsbury Park. Just east of Defiance is Independence State Park, a favorite site for picnics. Other attractions within the 400 acre state park are fine bass fishing and one of the few perfectly preserved canal locks in Ohio."
