Deceased Name: Wayne Anthony Baker
Wayne Anthony Baker, 94, formerly of Eureka Star Road, Gallipolis, Ohio, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 1994, at Scenic Hills Care Center.
He was born Sept. 8, 1900 in Clay Township, Gallia County, Ohio, a son of the late Charles Wilson Baker and Addie Boster Baker. He retired in 1971 from the Gallipolis Developmental Center, and had been a 23-year employee of the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Akron, where he was very active in the union. He was also a retired farmer, and a member of Gallia Masonic Lodge 469 in Eureka, Ohio.
Preceded in death by his wife, Marita Young Baker, on Feb. 8, 1989, he is survived by daughters, Patricia Compton and Mrs. Walter (Marian) Schoonover; sister, Mary Call, all of Gallipolis, Ohio; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded by a sister, Clarice Brown, and brothers, Carl, Vance, Ralph, and Lloyd Baker.
Funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, 1994, at Willis Funeral Home in Gallipolis. Interment at Clay Chapel Cemetery. Visitation Friday, 7 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home, where a Masonic service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. by Gallia Lodge 469.
