She was born June 3, 1905, in Gallia County, Ohio, and came to Sarasota 25 years ago from Grand Forks, N.D. A retired teacher, she earned her bachelor of arts degree from Ohio University and her master's degree from the University of Illinois. She was a member of the Ikebana Society, and the Sun Coast Ohio University Alumni Chapter. She was a member of One Pine Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include a son, George Jr. of Chambery, France; three brothers, Stanley of Cape Coral, Charles of Gallipolis, Ohio, and Gilbert of Cincinnati; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The service and burial will be in Ohio. Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home of Gallipolis is in charge.
