John L. 'Tommy' Thompson III, 68, of Leesburg, Fla., died Sunday, April 4, 1993, at Leesburg Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Thompson was born in Gallia County, Ohio, on Nov. 11, 1924 and came to the Akron area in 1945. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. After the Army he was an accountant for the Sun Oil Co., then became general manager for Lyle Chevrolet of Cuyahoga Falls, after which he founded Thompson Ford on Akron-Cleveland Road. After his retirement in 1973, he moved to Florida in 1974. His memberships included 32nd Degree Masons, Scottish and York Rite, and Masonic Lodge 187 of Cuyahoga Falls. He instituted the Key Largo Moose Lodge in Key Largo, Fla., and was also an officer of the Florida
State Moose Lodge, Legion North Moose, and district president for two years.
Preceded in death by his parents, Ella I. and John L., and sister, Madge Darcy, he is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Zucco) Thompson of Wildwood, Fla.; son, John L. Thompson IV of O'Fallon, Mo.; daughter, Janet L. Browning of Charleston, S.C.; stepson, Tony Mastadonna of Cuyahoga Falls; stepdaughter Linda Tomello of Mogadore; grandchildren, Harold Browning II, Ella M. Browning, Melinda Mastadonna, John L. Thompson V, Anthony J. Mastadonna Jessica A. Thompson and Lauren N. Tomello; great-grandchildren, Harold L. Browning III and Joseph C. Browning; sisters, Rev. Anna Jane Pelton of Deshler, Ohio, and Betty Lonz of Toledo, Ohio.
Friends may call at the Rossi Funeral Home, 552 N. Main St., Friday, 4 to 8 p.m. Masonic service will be FriDAY, at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be Saturday, 11 a.m., at the funeral home, Revs. Anna and James Pelton officiating. Interment at Rest- land Cemetery in Brimfield, Ohio.
