Early in their married life they turned their lives to Christ and the Church. Her husband became a minister with the Pilgrim Holiness Church and continued with that ministry throughout his life. As years went on they left the Coal Mining Area of Murray City and moved to Dayton, in 1923 with 10 children still at home. John became a carpenter and she and her husband made their home in Dayton, Ohio until the early 30's when they took up farming in this area until 1942. When the children had married and left them they built a home in Fairborn to settle in a semi-retired life on South Maple Ave. Lola was a faithful mother never concerned with too much else than making a good home for everyone concerned. She was patient, kind and considerate of others all her life ever ready to give to or share with as the need required.

She spent the last 29 months of her life in Vandalia Nursing Home where she claimed she had excellent care and the home says she was a good patient and she was loved by all of them.
