Cincinnati

"The Queen City of the West"

Cincinnati was first settled about 1788 by settlers traveling down the Ohio River.  It qas originally known as Losantiville. It's present name comes from the Society of Cincinnati to which some of the founders belonged. It has been known as the "American Rome" because it is, like Rome, built on seven hills and a river, and also because of its early strong Roman Catholic influence.
