GUNN, ELIJAH SR (Fulton county)
copied from tombstone: "Elijah Gunn Sr d. Sept 22, 1855, aged 95 yr, 8m, 8d. A pioneer of Ohio July 1796 and of the Maumee Valley 1815"
(The GAR Post 66 marker should be on the grave of his grandson, Cyrus Gunn). His son Elijah Jr. was in the War of 1812, and all three are buried in this Gunn cemetery. Mamie Hunt Cassety Napoleon No. 257881 Wauseon, writes "he settled at Girty's Pt. a pioneer of 1826 opposite the east end of the Island in what is now Flat Rock twp. He was a Rev. Soldr. The house he built is still standing; R.W. Hartman, of Napoleon, 88 yr old, in conversation with the writer said he knew ELijah Gunn Sr and attended his funeral; he remembered the details."
