Ida Griffith
My grandmother, Ida Griffith, listed on her marriage license to Richard Bolton in 1927 that her occupation was a nurse. What I find odd is that she was born in Coalton and lived most of her life in Hamden. I never have heard of her living in Logan until after her passing and I got a copy of her marriage record. Iím not sure why she was living there and Iím not sure in what context she considered herself to be a nurse. I did check with the Hocking Valley Community Hospital and the Cherrington Hospital without any luck. She may have been tending to a friend or relative or may have been an actual nurse. If you have any feedback on her in particular or on an event during that time that required extra nurses, please let me know at tsprouse67 AT gmail.com Thanks so much, Tina Sprouse

Hi, My name is Sid Haddon (HDSIDNEY@AOL.COM). I am researching information for William C. Haddon b. 1790 near Harpers Ferry , Va.He married Eliza Favor in 1815 at Frederick, Md. They moved to Muskingham, County Ohio shortly after the marriage. William was living with his son Valentine in 1860 in Washington township, Hocking County , Ohio

I am trying to find out Williams parents names as well as any information about his life in Ohio . I believe he died about 1865 in Hocking County as Valentine moved to Missouri about this time.

Also living in the household at this 1860 census time was William Turner who was the father of Valentines wife Nancy (Turner). He would have died between 1860 and 1865 also I believe. Any info on his parents would also be appreciated. William Turner was born 1785 in Maryland . Info on where they are buried would be great.

Thanks, Sid Haddon

Greenberry Paxton (1819-1881), m. Eliza Hartley

Greenberry Paxton is a name that stands out in Hocking County history, if only because it was unusual. He was supposedly the son of James and Barbara (Clapper) Paxton. According to Clapper family records and Muskingum County estate records, Barbara Clapper was also married to Joseph Paxton and they lived in Blue Rock when he died in 1840 and his estate was auctioned. (She had to buy back her own bed!) In the auction sale the name was spelled "Paxson". They were married in Muskingum County in 1824, her second marriage.

James Paxton and Joseph Paxton/Paxson may have been brothers and I am trying to find both their family backgrounds. One of them is supposed to be my great-great-great-grandfather. My line would come from Greenberry's brother or half-brother, John.

Larry Paxton

I'm searching for any info on the historical (1890-1923) Post Office at Longstreth, Ohio. I'd LOVE to find a postmarked item, but would take anything. My paternal grandfather was postmaster from 1915-1921. My father is a retired postmaster & any article I could find would be a great gift for him.

I am looking for information on United Brethren Reverends John and Samuel Wilson both born in Ireland around 1788. Both living in Benton, Hocking, Ohio 1840 Census. Census of 1860 shows Samuel as postmaster of South Bloomingville, Hocking, Ohio. Names read as buried in South Bloomingville Cemetery are, John and Betsey  Wilson, Sarah J, Deborah E, and Sarah Wilson.

I am coming to the area soon and would like to know where the best place to research records of that period would be?
