SIMON VICKERS, 85, FOUND DEAD IN BED
Simon Wesley Vickers, 85, was found dead in bed at his Union Furnace home Sunday morning. Dr. Owen Faw, Hocking Count coroner, said death was due to a cerebral hemorrhage. The coroner said Mr. Vickers had been dead about 12 hours. Mr. Vickers suffered a stroke about three ears ago. The deceased was a retired Buckeye Pipe Line Co. worker. He was born in Vinton County, a son of William and Elizabeth Vickers. He lived most of his life in Union Furnace. Surviving are his wife Lucy; three daughters, Miss Ruth Vickers of the home and Mrs. Elizabeth Wyskiver, Mrs. Helen Anderson and Mrs. Freda Oeffler, all of Union Furnace; two sons, Walter and Charles Vickers, both of Union Furnace; a sister Mrs. James Mills of near South Bloomingville; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Woodard Funeral Home, with the Rev. Paul Sellers officiating. Burial will be made in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.

MRS. LUCY CLARA VICKERS
Mrs. Lucy Clara Vickers, 83, of Union Furnace, died at her home at 5:25 p.m. Friday. She had been ill for the past two months. A native and life-long resident of Union Furnace, she was the daughter of Lewis and Sarah McCormick Bickel. She was a member of the Evangelical united Brethren Church and the Ladies Bible Class and Missionary Society of the church. Surviving are two sons, Walter and Charles of Union Furnace; four daughters, Miss Ruth Vickers of the home, Mrs. Elizabeth Wyskiver, Mrs. Helen Anderson and Mrs. Freda Oeffler of Union Furnace; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother Harry Bickel of Lancaster; and two sisters, Mrs. Tina Pence of Newark and Mrs. Emma Trainer of Daytona Beach, Fla. Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Leonard Funeral Home, the Rev. Paul Sellers officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Mrs Melissa Jane Vorhees Dies After Lingering Illness
LOGAN--Sept 7
A heart attack proved fatal to Mrs Melissa Jane Vorhees, 78, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs Reed Harden, 40 West Front street at 3:20 o'clock Monday morning after a lingering illness.
Until ten months ago, Mrs Vorhees had made her home at Webb Summit where she remained alone following the death of her husband, Comrade William Vorhees, several years ago.
Besides the daughter with whom she was living, she leaves three daughters, Mrs Richard Collins, Riverside, Ontario; Mrs Jacob Howdyshell, Webb Summit, and Mrs William Miller, New Straitsville.
Definite funeral arrangements have not been announced other than the funeral will be held at the home with burial at Oak Grove.
