Remembering Those We Loved

Jackson Standard

Thursday, March 22, 1888

John Allison, son of Benjamin and Martha J. Allison, died at his father's home in Jackson County, Ohio, March 10, 1888. His sickness was typhoid malarial fever. In less than two weeks from his first illness, he yielded a victim forever to this dreadful disease.
He was born on the 11th day of December, 1861, and lived to be 26 years, 2 months and 29 days old. He united with the M. E. Church in 1882, since which time he lived in the fear and service of the Lord. All who knew Brother Allison will remember him as a kind, generous hearted, Christian young man. He was not of an excitable nature, but rather calm and self-possessed. From first acquaintance you would not appreciate the excellence of his character.

But he grew into the confidence of all who knew him. His young manhood was noble and genuine, free from the vices prevalent in this age. He related to the writer last winter that in all his life he had never been addicted to swearing, dancing, chewing or smoking tobacco, playing at cards, not indulging in strong drink. He fell asleep in Christ.
He leaves a father and mother, four brothers and four sister to mourn his absence.
His remains were taken to the cemetery at Bethel Chapel on Beaver Circuit, and laid away in the presence of a host of friends and relatives. After which the funeral service took place at the church, Bro. R. A. Blair assisting in the services. C. C. Wyatt
