William Harrison Buckley
William H. Buckley, son of John and Frankie Scurlock Buckley was born September 26, 1856, and died April 16, 1920, age 63 years, 6 months, 9 days, having spent his entire life near the scene of his nativity with the exception of one season spent in the West.
He leaves to mourn the loss of a kind and diligent parent. a wife, one son, one daughter, 2 sisters and 2 brothers. He was the only surviving son of a numerous family, one brother and 5 sisters having preceded him in death.
In early youth, he united with the Methodist Episcopal Church at Rocky Hill, but in his later years he leaned more to the tenets and precepts of the Golden Rule rather than to the Church Militant. He was a close and careful observant of political as well as secular affairs.
In the latter part of his life he was sorely afflicted in his sense of hearing.
He compensated himself however, largely by intensive reading, eagerly assimilating all literature that came with his vision.
As a citizen he was practically without fault. As a friend and companion his legion of friends is his surest attest. And his devotion to his immediate family was the cap-shear of his virtue and will ever be cherished by them in their fondest heritage of him whose friends and kindred have today gathered to pay homage to his memory.
