Ray Canter,60, of Carr Street,Jackson, died Sunday, Dec 18, at Oak Hill Community Medical Center.

He was born in Jackson County on July 31,1934.  Mr Canter was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.  He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, Jackson County Chapter 45.

Survivors include his mother Mary Hayburn Canter of Jackson; his wife Lula Flutz Canter; son Russell Canter ofJackson,two brothers, Pearl Canter of Wellston and Wesley Canter of Jackson; seven sisters; Nancy Downard of Wellston, Betty Wyatt, Nellie Wyatt, Carolyn White, Marie Osborne, Mary Clarkson all of Jackson, and Almeda Canter of Cleveland.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Mayhew Funeral Home in Jackson.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Mayhew Funeral Home with Reverend Jack Hughes ofdficiating.  Burial will be at  Greenlawn Memory Gardens with military graveside sevices conducted by the Disabled American Veterans, Jackson County Chapter 45.
