RIPLEY C. CLAAR PASSES AWAY AT HOLZER TODAY

Ripley C. Claar, retired Jackson business man, died at Holzer hospital at 1 a.m. Friday from a cerebral hemorrhage. He was 87 and had been seriously ill for the past week.
Mr. Claar was a native of Jackson and one of the city's best-known residents. He was the owner and founder of Claar Brother's men's clothing store on Main street.
The store, one of Jackson's oldest was founded in 1891 as Schellenger & Claar Clothing store and in 1897, the late Cranston Claar became associated with the bus iness and the firm assumed it present name. Mr. Ripley Claar retired from active participation in the sotre's operation in 1954.
Prior to entering the clothing business, Mr. Claar taught school for several years and was associated with the Columbus Buggy Co. for two years.
He leaves his wife, Lena Martin Claar, and one sister, Miss Ella Claar of Jackson. Also surviving are nine nieces and nephews.
The body is at the Thomas funeral home where friends may call Friday evening. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Allen Huber Sunday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial in Fairmount cemetery.
