Ronald W. Cottrill, Sr., age 73, of Wellston, passed away Friday,
May 4, 2007, at the Holzer Medical Center in Jackson. He was born December 12,
1933 in Hamden, Ohio, the son of the late Herb and Mary Bayes Cottrill. Herb was
a graduate of Hamden High School and was a veteran of the United States Army. He
was a former electrician for the Ohio State University Hospital, and a member of
the American Legion Post 371 of Wellston. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his children, Cheryl Stevens-Berry of Westerville, Deborah
Howland of Florida, Ronald W. Cottrill, Jr. of Summit Station, Ohio., Marcia
McKinley of Columbus and Lawrence E. “Larry” Cottrill of Atlanta Ga.; brother,
Ray Cottrill of Columbus; sister, Sharon McDaniel of McArthur; close friend and companion, Sharon George of Wellston; former wife, Kenda Hysell
Cottrill, as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces,
nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Roxane Cottrill and his sister, Kay McManis.
At the request of Mr. Cottrill, his body was cremated. Memorial services will be
Sunday at 2 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston with Pastor Rob
Ervin Officiating. Burial will follow in the Hamden Cemetery with military
graveside services by American Legion Post 371 of Wellston.
