Dentist In County
Jackson county's oldest practicing dentist, Dr. Charles E. Fitzpatrick, died Friday evening at his home in Wellston following an extended illness.
A life-long resident of this county, Dr. Fitzpatrick was born September 7, 1869, and had practiced dentistry for more than 50 years.
Prior to becoming a dentist he taught school in Jackson and Vinton counties.
In 1892 he entered the Ohio College of Dental Surgery at Cincinnati and upon graduation began his practice at Wilkseville.
About two years later he came to Wellston where he served that community until his death.
Active in civic affairs, Dr. Fitzpatrick was a member of the Citizens Committee which aided Wellston in obtaining their present water works system.
For many years he was president of the City Building & Loan Company in Wellston.
He was member of the Methodist church the Black Diamond Lodge No. 538 F. & A. M. the Wellston chapter, No 174 P. A. M.and Knight of Pythias.
He is survived by his son, Dr. C. C. Fitzpatrick of this city, a brother, Ed Fitzpatrick of Wilkesville and a sister Mrs. Emma Harder of Wellston. A daughter died in infancy and his wife preceded him in death March 7, 1938.
Final rites were conducted at the home Monday afternoon with Rev. B. H. Wibbeler and Rev. A. E. Hall, former Wellston Methodist minister officiating.
Burial was made in Ridgewood cemetery under the direction of the Gaskill funeral service.
