Susana Virginia Scurlock Henn
Susan V. Henn, only daughter of Hiram and Nancy Scurlock was born in Jackson Co., Ohio May 14, 1864 and departed this life Sept. 14, 1921 aged 57 years 4 m.
She was married to Frank D. Henn of Denver, Col. Feb 5, 1908. After spending a few years in the west she returned to her natal spot where she spent the remaining years of her life.
In early years, she united with the Christian Union church at Pleasant Grove. The departed was of a quiet and sunny disposition that made life pleasant for her and all around her.
When quite young her mother died and left to her the care of the family. She was a real mother to her young brother and thus kept the family together and they were permitted to grow up in each others fellowship. Ministering to others is one of the great duties of our life which brings not only blessings in this life, but the hope of future reward. To live for others is noble truth like. To live for self deserves no reward and will receive no crown of glory.
Christ went about in a quiet humble way, not seeking the glory of men, but doing good to all who were in need. So may we follow in the footsteps of the Master, doing little deeds of kindness and helping to bear the burdens of the needy and sick. So may our lives be filled with the sunshine of human kindness like that of our departed sister, that other hearts around us may be cheered and blessed.
For the last two years she had been in declining health as the result of a weak heart, which gradually grew worse until relieved by death. She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, three brothers viz: Elisha of the old home, John and Herbert who live near by, one uncle George W. Scurlock and a great many other relatives and friends.
