Susie, daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Swingle was born at Zaleski, Vinton Co., Sept. 8, 1881. Died July 20th, 1930, age 48 yrs., 10 months, 20 days. She was united in marriage to Mr. Wm. Holcomb, Dec. 30th, 1909. She leaves her husband and an adopted daughter, also her mother, five sisters, and five brothers. One brother and father preceded her in death. Mrs. Nettie Hensley of Russell, Ky., Leona Stevison of Jackson Rt 4, Elmer of Jackson, Carrie Ervin of Jackson, James of Akron, Lewis of Columbus, Meda Richert of Columbus, Odis of Columbus, Blanche at home. She united in the Baptist church of Jackson in her early girlhood days, later in life moving her membership at the U. B. church of Victory Chapel where she remained a faithful member until death. She was a kind and loving wife, a good neighbor, always ready to assist those who needed assistance. Susie's gone, but not forgotten. Her sweet face we'll see no more.
She has gone home, in heaven.
To that bright and happy shore.
How we miss her no one knows.
Oh, so hard to see her go.
Now she's resting, sweetly resting.
Just an angel white as snow.
Farewell, for a while,
But, when the days of life are fled,
We'll try and meet thee
Where no farewell tears are shed.
Pleasant as the air of evening
Tho she suffered unknown pain,
Sweetest thoughts shall ever linger
Our loss, was her eternal gain.
