Jones--April 7, at Oak Hill Mr. William O. Jones aged 47 years. He was working in the Oak Hill mine, when a fall of clay caught him crushing him about the hips. Mr. Morgan Evans who was not far away rushed to his assistance, but he was already fatally injured. His fellow miners gathered and he was released and tenderly carried home. He lived to see his family, and died peacefully about 6 p.m. His funeral occurred Saturday and was largely attended. He leaves a wife and two children Mrs. S. E. Miller and Mr. Albert Jones to mourn their loss. Mr. Jones was one of the most respected citizen of the county. He was a prominent member of the U. B. Church, and had been elected Councilman of Oak Hill a few days before. We can say from personal knowledge that he was one of the best of citizens. He was charitable, and kind hearted. Several of his neighbors certify to unusual deeds of kindness. His loss will be deeply felt.
