- James Byron, 44, died at 9.30 p.m. Saturday shortly after admittance
to Van Wert County Hospital following an apparent heart attack.
He was born Jan. 12, 1937, in
Cincinnati
, the son of Leo and Kathryn Green Byron. His mother, Kathryn West, survives in
McCreary
County
,
Ky.
On June 29, 1972, he married Cecelia Martin, who also survives.
Survivors also include four sons, Richard Byron, Robert Byron and James Byron,
all at home, and Gregory Byron with the U.S. Marine
Corps; two stepsons, Donald and Gerald, both at home; four daughters, Sandra
Byron, Joanne Byron, Jeanie Byron and Carol Byron, all of Springfield; four
stepdaughters, Deborah Vann of Celina, Kathy Johnson of Springfield, Vickie
Field of Rockford and Catherine, at home; four grandchildren; and a sister, Joan
Watson of McCreary County,
Ky.

Nov. 7 — Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed
church Thursday afternoon for Melvin John Gehm, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. John
Gehm. Liberty-tp, who died here at Otis hospital Tuesday morning. Young Gehm was
injured while playing baseball on Nov. 1. Surviving are the parents, and one
brother, Melville Gehm. Burial in the church cemetery.

married Calvin Lammers, who survives.
She was a junior high school teacher in Celina. A member of
St. John
Lutheran
Church
in Celina, she was past president of the University Women's Club and a member
of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority.
Survivors also include one son, Thomas Lammers of Celina; one daughter, Mrs.
Gerald (Cheryl) Weaver of Auburn, Ind.; four grandchildren; one sister, Mrs.
Vernon (Helen) Speckman of Celina; and one brother, Vernon Gilmore of Athens.

Stein - Requiem high mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday in St. John
Catholic church for Henry J. Wendeln, 80, former sawmill operator and
landowner, who died recently at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Urban Menker,
here. Rev. Father Evaristus Olberding will be the celebrant and burial will be
in the church cemetery.
A
lifelong resident of this community, Wendeln married Mary Elizabeth Schulte in
1880. She preceded him in death in March. He was a member of the St. Joseph's
Men's society of the church and of the St. Rochus commander Knights of St. John.
He
is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Rose Menker, Mrs. Bernadine Hausfeld, Mrs.
Ann Zumwald and Mrs. Celia Pohlman, all of Maria Stein; a sister Mrs. John Bruhs,
also of Maria Stein; 26 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
