Mrs. Colleen Suessman Fromm, 71, 602 Spring street died at 7:20 a. m.
Monday at Piqua Memorial hospital where she had been a patient since
November 22 and in failing health for several months.
Born in Cincinnati September 24, 1873, she was the daughter of August J.
and Caroline Horst Suessman, natives of Germany. She came to Piqua after
her marriage to August Fromm and the latter part of her life resided at
1227 Park avenue, establishing herself at the Spring street residence
about a year ago. She was a member of St. james Episcopal church and
most active in church work. Her nearest surviving relatives are two
nephews, Emery Dutcher of San Francisco and Riley Dutcher of
Minneapolis, Minn. Her husband and two brothers preceded her in death.
The Rev. Paul J. Gehm will conduct services Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the
Wagner funeral home with burial in Forest Hill cemetery. Friends may
call at the funeral home after noon on Wednesday.

Mrs. Martha Elizabeth Cofield, 83, widow of William Oscar
Cofield, died Saturday at her on 817 S. Main street from the effects of a
fractured hip, which she suffered September 11.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Madison Home For Funerals
on W. High street, burial to be in Forest Hill cemetery.
She was born in Nevada, Iowa, June 17, 1861, but had resided in Piqua 60
years. For 24 years she was employed at the Orr Pelt & Blanket Co.,
here. The daughter of James and Nancy Perry Cofield, she was a member of
the Church of Christ in Shelby county the home of her mother. Surviving
are two children, Miss Rowene E. Cofield and Miss Bonnie E. Cofield at
home, two brothers, and a sister, and one son, Larry having preceded her
in death. Friends may call at the funeral home until time for services
Wednesday.

Mrs. Catherine Holler, 83, widow of Michael Holler, died
at 6:05 a.m. today at the home of her son Frank Holler, 500 South Wayne
street, where she had been ill for ten months.
Born in Minster February 13, 1861, she was the daughter of Barney and Mary
Hinders Vocke. She had lived in Piqua for 60 years and was married
November 25, 1885. She was a member of the St. Boniface church, of the
Ladies Auxiliary, Knights of St. John and Clara Sodality. She leaves her
son Frank of Piqua; two grandsons, Paul Holler of Troy and James Holler,
with the navy in the South Pacific. Three great-grandchildren and a number
of nieces and nephews also survive.
The Rev. A. C. Monter will conduct services Friday at 9 a.m. at the church
with burial in Forest Hill cemetery. The body was taken to the Conley
funeral home and prepared for burial and will be returned to the residence
Thursday when friends may call any time after noon until the hour of the
funeral. Members of St. Clara Society of St. Boniface church and St.
Margaret's Auxiliary will meet for prayers at 7:30 o'clock Thursday
evening at the Holler residence, 500 S. Wayne street

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the
Sam Trowbridge home, 504 E. Main street, for George Trowbridge, 73, who
died there Tuesday night from the effects of a stroke he suffered while
attending a sale at the Harry Alexander farm, Route 2, Greenville
recently. The Rev. G. E. Weaver will officiate with burial to be in
Gettysburg cemetery.
A native of Darke county, Trowbridge had been active in farming for more
then 50 years, The brother Sam of Bradford and a sister, Mrs. Nora Schneck
of Chattanooga, Tenn., are the only immediate survivors.
D. Frank Wyatt, 79, retired farmer, died at 1 p.m.
Wednesday at his residence, 825 Boal avenue, where he had been in ill
health for two years.
Born December 21, 1866, south of Mt. Jefferson, he was the son of Joseph
and Mary C. Wyatt. He had resided on a farm west of Piqua for 20 years and
in this city for seven years. He was married November 29, 1900. He was a
member of the Houston Christian church.
Survivors are his wife Laura; three sons, Joseph, in California, Frederick
of Piqua and Paul of Greensbecurer, Md.; sister, Mrs. Laura Holbert of
Piqua, and three brothers, George of Piqua, Charles of Dayton and Reuban
of Lansing, Mich. *Funeral arrangements are pending word from the son in
Maryland. The body was taken to the Wagner funeral home.

Following failing health of the past 14 months, Hazel May
Collins, 59, died at Piqua Memorial hospital at 1:50 o'clock this morning
after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage at her home, 229 First street at 9
o'clock Monday evening. The daughter of Samuel and Jennie Derr Collins,
she was born August 5, 1885 in Piqua and had resided here all her life.
She had been employed at the Atlas Underwear company for 38 years and was
a member of the Grace Methodist church.
Survivors are an aunt Mrs. John White of Dayton; two nieces, Mrs. George
Fox and Mrs. Herman Cordes and two nephews. Floyd and Donald Collins of
Indianapolis. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the
J.C. Cron and sons funeral home, the Rev. A. K. Wilson officiating with
burial in Forest Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral Wednesday
afternoon and evening and until the hour of rites Thursday.

Mrs. Mary Catherine Norris Wilson, 68, wife of Charles
Wilson, died at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at her home, 114 N. Main street. She
had been in failing health for seven years.
Born in Piqua April 20, 1876, she was the daughter of Daniel and Susan
Kennedy Norris and had lived here all her life.
She is survived by her husband and two brothers, Forrest E. Norris of
Vandalia, route 1, and Edward J. Norris of Dayton. The Rev. J. W. Kuck
will conduct services Friday at 3 p.m. at the J. C. Cron and Sons funeral
home with burial in Forest Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral
home, Thursday afternoon and evening and Friday.

Although she had not been well for several years, the
death of Mrs. Emma Belle Stickler, 82, wife of James G. Stickler, came as
a great shock to her wide circle of friends when they learned that a heart
attack had resulted fatally after only a day's illness at her home, 627
Boone street.
Born October 3, 1862, in Springcreek township, she was the
daughter of Elihu and Margaret Russell Sanders. She had lived in Miami
county all her life and was married December 5, 1880, she and her husband
having celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary just a month ago.
She was a member of the Presbyterian church and of the Sunshine Circle.
She had lived in Piqua for 38 years. She leaves her husband, a son C.
Foster Stickler; two daughters, Mrs. Howard H. (Mary) Miller of Detroit
and Mrs. Howard d. (Ellen) Rice of Piqua; four grandchildren, and four
great-grandchildren. A daughter, Bernice, died in 1909.
The Rev. John C. Inglis will conduct services at 2 p.m. Monday at the J.
C. Cron and Sons chapel with burial in the cemetery at Fletcher. Friends
may call at the funeral home Sunday afternoon and evening and Monday until
time of services.

Covington
Mrs. Emma Rose Hickman, 75, route 1, widow of Wilbur
Hickman, died at Piqua Memorial hospital Wednesday where she had been a
patient for 14 weeks. She had been ill for a year.
The daughter of Moses and Mary Koonts Exter, she was born September 3,
1869 in Darke county and was married December 18, 1889, her husband
preceded her in death. She was a member of the Covington Congregational
Christian church.
Surviving are a son Ralph at home; three daughters, Mrs. Glenna Jackson
and Mrs. Irene Shafer, both of Covington route 1 and Mrs. Florence Minnich
of Brookville; a sister, Mrs. Belle Rench of Covington; nine grandchildren
and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the
Routzahn funeral home. The Rev. Ray O. Shank officiating, with burial in
Highland cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home tonight, Friday
and until the hour of services Saturday.

John Henry Banning, 65, employed at the Jackson Steel Tube
company but associated for many years with the Morrow Transfer company,
who resided at 331 McKinley avenue, died at 6:55 p.m. Friday at Piqua
Memorial hospital where he was admitted January 19.
Born in Piqua September 18, 1879, he was the son of Henry and Sarah Dill
Banning. He had lived here all his life and on October 30, 1901, was
united in marriage with Edna Mae Brown, who survives him.
He leaves his wife, Edna Mae; four sons, John of Gallipolis, Arthur of
Piqua, Harry of Fletcher and Leo of Piqua; three daughters, Mrs. George
(Nellie) Arnett, Mrs. Raymond (Sarah) Edwards, both of Piqua, and Mrs.
Willard (Gladys) Chester of Maplewood, a sister, Mrs. William Brucken of
Pontiac, Mich., and 12 grandchildren, a brother, William died November 20,
1944.
The Rev. A. K. Wilson will conduct services Monday at 2 p.m. at the J. C.
Cron and Sons chapel with burial in Forest Hill cemetery. Friends may call
Sunday afternoon and evening and Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Esther Reutter, of Bradford, 90, died at the home of
her son-in-law William f. Whittmer, E. Church street Friday after an
extended illness.
A son Max of Newark is the only immediate survivor. Funeral services will
be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Cheater Stocker funeral home, the
Rev. E. A. Leason officiating. Burial will be in Harris Creek cemetery.

Rev. Paul Gehm of the St. Paul's Evangelical church of
Piqua will officiate at services Thursday, 1:30 p.m. at the residence and
at 2 p.m. at the St. John's church in Troy for Mrs. Frieda Dora Kruger
Pfister, 67, who died at her home, 620 S. Clay street Monday. Burial
will be in Riverside cemetery.
Born in Hanover, Germany, she was the widow of John C. Pfister, the couple
having been married in St. Petersburg, Russia in June of 1896, coming to
Troy in May, 1898. Survivors include four sons, Herman, Christian A.,
Charles and Paul all of Troy; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Ewing, Lockland; and
seven grandchildren.

the Suber funeral home for Marilyn Jean Gross, eight month old
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Gross, who died at the home of her

Troy, who died Sunday at her home, 105 S. High street, Covington, after a
heart attack were held at the Irvin funeral home today with burial in

Funeral services for Charles Daniel Beaver, will
beheld Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the J. C. Cron and Sons funeral,
in charge of Rev. Norman R. Gutry with burial in Forest Hill cemetery.

for the services.
Mrs. Anna Tracy Miller Huston, 61, wife of Albert
Huston, died at her home two miles east of Piqua on the Urbana road, Route
36, where she had been afflicted with a heart condition for five years and
bedfast since last Thursday.
Born in Piqua, July 15, 1883, she was the daughter of John and Katherine
Copp Miller, and had resided in and near Piqua all her life.
She is survived by her husband; three sons, Charles, Robert and Albert
Huston, Jr.; five daughters, Mrs. Fred P (Marie) Miller, Mrs. Alva
(Katherine) Williams, Mrs. Dwight (Louise) Purk, Mrs. Walter (Laura)
Stengle and Miss Mildred Huston, all of Piqua, route 3, two sisters, Mrs.
Hary Harboldt of Piqua, route 2, and Mrs. Laura Nicodemus of Piqua
and 10 grandchildren. A son Arthur, died in 1918.
The Rev. Norman Gutry will conduct services at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the
residence with burial in Forest Hill cemetery.
The body was taken to the Finfrock funeral home and will be returned
to the residence where friends may call Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

A. J. Scvhlanzer, 64, died at 11 p.m., Sunday at
his residence, 640 S. Wayne street, where he had been bedfast since
October and in failing health since July when he retired from business.
Born in Indianapolis May 4, 1880, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. B. J.
Scvhlanzer. He was married to Miss Norene Gillespie on June 3, 1902, and
came to Piqua 40 years ago. He had been engaged in the automotive electric
repair business for 23 years, with his shop at 513 N. Main street. He was
a member of St. Mary's church.
Surviving are his wife, Norene; a daughter, Miss Irene Scvhlanzer; four
brothers, Joseph, Edward and William of Indianapolis and Frank of
Goldfield, Nev., and two sisters, Mrs. Mayme Snyder of Indianapolis and
Mrs. Clara Blair of Lansing, Mich.
The Rev. Robert Van Kaenel will conduct services at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at
St. Mary's church with burial in Forest Hill cemetery.
The body was removed to the J. C. Cron and Sons funeral home and was taken
to the residence this afternoon where friends may call until time for the
funeral.

Robert Frank Mikolajewski, 35, died at 4 p.m.
Tuesday at his residene, 529 South street, where he had been ill for seven
years. Born in Piqua October 18, 1909, he was the son of
Peter and Amelia Kettles Mikolajewski and had lived here all his life. His
mother died May 11, 1911, when his brother Henry was born. Later his
father was united in marriage with Miss Grace Gogghagan, who has been a
devoted and beloved mother to these boys as well as the children she bore
later.
Robert was a core maker at the Favorite Stove and Range company. He was a
member of St. Mary's church and of the Faternal Order of Eagles.
Surviving are his parents, with whom he resided; four brothers, Henry and
John of Piqua; Pvt. William, with the Air Corps in England, and Pfc.
Charles, with the U.S. Marines in the South Pacific, and five sisters,
Betty, Virginia, Frances, Mary Jean and Joan all at home.
Rev. Robert Van Kaenel will conduct services at 9 a.m. Friday at St.
Mary's church with burial in Forest Hill cemetery.
The body was taken to the Conley funeral home and will be returned to the

Richard L. Kipp, 33, of Greenville, member of a
well known Piqua family, died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday at Lima, following an
illness of 18 months.
Born here November 5, 1911, he was the son of Fred and Frances Becker Kipp.
He lived in Piqua until he was 17 years of age, when he moved with his
family to Greenville. He was a member of St. Boniface church and was a
window trimmer by trade. He leaves two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Manix and
Mrs. Grover Menkel, both of Greenville, and a nephew, John Fred Manix. The
Rev. A. C. Monter will conduct services at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Boniface
church with burial in Forest Hill cemetery. The body was brought to the
Finfrock funeral home this morning. Friends may call there until the time
of the funeral. Hanford Kerr, 77, member of a Miami
county pioneer family, died Saturday at 8 p.m. in the St. Elizabeth
hospital where on Friday he had undergone surgery for the amputation of
the leg at his knee. He had suffered an infection of the right foot for
the past two years.
Mr. Kerr was born in Monroe township, the son of Perry and Susan Kessler
Kerr, and was educated in the Miami county schools. He was engaged in
farming in Miami county until 15 years ago, when he went to Florida and
engaged in nursery business in that state.
Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Sadie Swartsel of Shiloh, Mrs. Anna
Tenney of Toledo, and Mrs. Edna Beckett of Cleveland; a brother-in-law, D.
E. Blackmore of Troy. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 2:20 p.m. in
Polk Grove church with burial made in the cemetery there. --------

J. W. Penny, of Laura, aged 72, died last Saturday of cancer of the
stomach. The funeral was held from the Laura Christian Church on Tuesday
conducted by Rev. E. Pemberton.

Dr. A.H. Haworth-Found Dead in Bed at Troy Home Friday. Burial at
Potsdam--Dr. Albert H. Haworth, 78, native of Union Township and first
Miami County Health Commissioner, died in sleep at his home 114 North
Market Street, Troy, Friday morning, apparently from a heart attack. His
wife became aware of his death when she went to call him at 7:45 a.m.
It was the opinion of the family that he had died about 4 or 5 o'clock.
He suffered a severe heart attack five months ago, but had recently
appeared in good health.
He graduated from Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1896and
had practiced medicine more than 50 years, the earlier years being in
Potsdam, New Madison and West Milton. His home and office in West Milton
were at Main and Hayes Streets, the property now owned by L.W. Brumbaugh.
He and Mrs. Haworth moved to Troy in 1920 after his appointment as the
first health commissioner of Miami County, a position he held until
1925. No longer in public service, he began private practice in Troy.
Dr. Haworth was a member of the American Medical Society and it's state
and county organizations; of Masonic lodge here and former member of the
local Congregational Christian Church.
He was born to Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Haworth on September 23, 1869, and on
May 16, 1895 was united in Marriage with Lida A. Welbaum of Potsdam.
They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1945.
Surviving besides the widow, are two sons, Eldrid, near Phillipsburg,
and Russell, a practicing dentist in Troy, three grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; a brother, Preston, of Dayton and two sisters, Mrs.
Amos Surber, Pitsburg and Mrs. Theodore Swank, West Milton, R. 1.
Services were held at the Fisher Funeral Home, Troy, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday
with Rev. Frank Thomas, Greenville, in charge. Entombment was made in
the private mausoleum, erected in Potsdam Cemetery a few years ago, for
Dr. and Mrs. Haworth.

Obituary:
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in his late home for
Clarindon Haworth, 79, retired farmer, who died at his resident at the
west edge of Milton at 3 a.m. Saturday. Rev. S.A. Blessing was in charge
of the last rites and interment was made in the Potsdam Cemetery in
charge of Hale funeral directors.
Mr. Haworth had been ill for quite some time with a heart condition. He
was a lifelong resident of Miami County and is survived by his wife,
Mrs. Ella Haworth; son, Lee of Brookville; daughter, Mrs. Mabel Maier,
Dayton; two sisters, Mrs. Amos Surber, Pitsburg; Mrs. Theo Swank, West
Milton R.1; two brothers, Dr. A.H. Haworth, Troy, T.C. Haworth of
Dayton; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Obituary:
Richard O. Penny, Retired Fireman, Dies in Hospital--Richard O. Penny,
62, retired Troy Fire Dept. employee, of 113 1/2 North Market Street,
died Friday at 7:45 a.m. at the Stouder Memorial Hospital where he had
been a patient for the past six days. He had undergone surgery
Tuesday.
A native of Laura, Mr. Penny was born Sept. 17, 1889, a son of Wesley
and Sarah Muck Penny. He married Evora Jane Abshire in 1936 after the
death of his first wife. He was a mamber of the Eagles lodge.
Mr. Penny was employed as a fireman for the city fire department for
31 years, retiring because of illness on May 1 of this year. He was
promoted to the position of lieutenant on July 1, 1948, and served in
that capacity until Aug. 1, 1948.
Surviving are his wife; three children, William Penny of Troy, Willard
Penny of West Milton and Mrs. Robert Brown of Detroit, Mich.; one
brother, Harry Penny of Pleasant Hill; three sisters, Mrs. Maud Dunkel
of Dayton, Mrs. Emma Coate of Corfu, N.Y., and Mrs. Lillie Hellman of
Ithaca, Mich.; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at the Fisher Funeral
Home with Rev. A.C. Decker, pastor of the First Congregational
Christian Church, officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.

resident of the Valley Nursing Home in St. Marys, died at 5:14 p.m.
Monday at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born Jun 10, 1912, in
New Bremen, the son of Frank and Elnora (Bruns) Hollingsworth. Mr
Hollingsworth was the former owner of the Hollingsworth Hotel in New
Bremen. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Services will be
at 10 a.m. Thursday at Gilberg Funeral Home, Rev. James O. Byrne,
officiating. Burial in Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City.

Death of Mrs. Sophia Gibson.
At half past two yesterday afternoon at her late residence No. 820 W.
Water, occurred the death of Mrs. Sophia Gibson, widow of the
late Joseph Gibson, to whom she was married on October 8th 1816.
The deceased was a daughter of Stephen Depray. One of the early settlers
of Piqua, was born April 15, 1824, and had resided here all her life,
being 67 years, 8 months, and 2 days old. The funeral will occur
from the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, of which she was a faithful
member, tomorrow morning at 7:45 o’clock, Interment at the Catholic
Cemetery.

Mrs. Sophia Gibson died at her home No. 820 west Water street, at
6 o'clock last evening of La Grippe, aged 67 years 8 months and 3 days.
Mrs. Gibson was born in Piqua on April 15th, 1824. Her maiden name
was Sophia Dupray. She was united in marriage to Joseph Gibson on
the 8th of October, 1846.
Funeral services will be held at the St. Mary’s Catholic church
Saturday morning at 7:45 o’clock, Rev. Edward Hickey, officiating.
Interment at the Catholic cemetery.

Miller Huston, 61, wife of Albert Huston, died at 3:15 p. m. Monday
at her home two miles east of
Piqua
on the
Urbana
road. Route 36, where she had been afflicted with a heart condition for
five years and bedfast since last Thursday.

Piqua, July 15, 1883, she was the daughter of John and Katherine Copp
Miller, and had resided in and near
Piqua
all her life.
She
is survived by her husband; three sons, Charles. Robert and Albert
Huston, Jr.; five daughters, Mrs. Fred P. Miner (Marie), Mrs. Alva
Williams (Katherine), Mrs. Dwight Purk (Louise), Mrs. Walter Stengle
(Laura) and Miss Mildred Huston, all of Piqua; a brother, Joseph Miller
of Piqua, route 3, two sisters. Mrs. Hary Harboldt of Piqua, route 2,
and Mrs. Laura Nico-
demus of
Piqua
and 10 grandchildren. A son,
Arthur, died in 1918.
The
Rev. Norman Gutry will conduct services at 2:30 p. m. Friday at the
residence with burial in Forest Hill cemetery.
The body was taken to the Finfrock funeral home and will be returned to
the residence where friends may call Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Marilyn
Darlene Brown,
68, of St. Cloud, Minn., Funeral services for
will be 11 a.m. Monday at Westwood Community Church in St. Cloud.
Pastor Dan Gordon will officiate. Burial will be in Ponto Lake
Cemetery, Longville, Minn. Marilyn passed away peacefully
Thursday, March 23, 2006, after a very long and courageous
five-year battle with ovarian cancer. There will be a visitation
from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home in St.
Cloud and again after 10 a.m. Monday at Westwood Community Church.
Mrs. Brown was born Dec. 11, 1937, in Piqua to John and Helen
(Hildebrand) Brumbaugh. She married Peter Brown on Oct. 5, 1957,
at St. John's Lutheran Church in Piqua. Marilyn was a member of
the National Honor Society. Marilyn worked in the law enforcement
as well as the legal field as an administrative assistant for many
years. She worked with child support for Miami County in Troy
prior to moving to Backus, Minn., in March 1973. Marilyn then
began her career in Child Support with Cass County Social Services
and worked there until retirement in 1993. She and her husband
moved to St. Cloud in 1998.
Marilyn was known for her strong faith in God, which was
evident the moment you met her and her beautiful smile that would
light up any room. She showered everyone she knew with love and
the gift of hospitality through cooking, baking, canning,
entertaining and doing anything possible to show love and caring
to all of those who crossed her path in life. She enjoyed harp and
piano music as well as gardening, fishing, knitting, greeting card
ministry, nature and all of God's wonderful creation.
Marilyn was always involved in church and was a member of Agape
Fellowship in St. Cloud. She volunteered in a variety of ways
throughout her life, including the Pregnancy Resource Center for
many years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and a baby son that she
miscarried. Marilyn will be greatly missed by her family and
many friends. She touched many lives and each of those lives were
forever changed after meeting her.
Heartfelt thanks to the extraordinary staff at the St. Cloud
Hospital Oncology Unit, St. Cloud Hospice and Home Care, the
Coborn's Cancer Center and Dr. Hauge.

Orland L. Young,
85, of Piqua, died at 9:15 pm, Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007, in Piqua
Manor Nursing Home.
He was born July 16, 1922, in Mercer County, to the late Walter
and Lulu (Shinn) Young. He married Margaret L. Elliott on March 4,
1950 in Piqua, and she survives.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Young.Mr. Young
retired as an assembler from the former Aerovent Fan Co. following
27 years of employment. He was a U.S. Army Air Corp veteran having
been honorably discharged from World War II as a staff sergeant.
Orland was a loyal and dedicated husband, father and grandfather
and will be dearly missed. In addition to his family, he enjoyed
caring for his automobiles and home with precision, and he was a
member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m.
Wednesday at Miami Memorial Park Cemetery, Covington with the Rev.
Dr. Judith-Mitchell Rich officiating.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday in the Jamieson &
Yannucci Funeral Home.

O. Yang,
87, of Troy, passed away Monday, April 23, 2007, at Upper Valley Medical
Center.
Frieda was born April 9, 1920, in Piqua, to the late Arthur and Emma
(Robbins) Chambers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry Yang in 2001;
son-in-law, Joe H. Yaney; two great-great grandchildren, Isabelle Rayne
and Dylan Ryan Dawson; and brother, Raymond Chambers.
Freida retired from Capitol Records in Hollywood, Calif., with 20 years of
service and previously had worked at Atlas Underwear in Piqua.
A graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Miami
Memorial Park Cemetery, Covington.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the
Bridges-Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home, Covington. In lieu of flowers,

Raymond Arthur Chambers, or "Duke" as he was known to his
friends and family, passed away Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, at his home in
Brandon, Fla. He had been a resident of Brandon since relocating from Ohio
in 1973. Duke was born Jan. 13, 1927, in Piqua.
Recently, on Jan. 13, he celebrated his 80th birthday.
Duke preceded in death by his sister, Frieda Yang of Troy.
Duke was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and American Legion.
He also was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and past
Commander of the Piqua Post. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War
ll and the Korean War.
A viewing was held for Mr. Chambers on Feb. 5, 2007, at the Chapel
of Hillsboro Memorial Funeral Home in Brandon. Funeral services were held
at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Brandon.
On Feb. 6, family and friends of the deceased gathered at Hillsboro
Memorial Gardens Funeral Home in Brandon for Entombment with military
honors. The United States flag was presented to his wife Ruth Chambers
by a representative of the U.S. Navy and Army Sgt. Steve Hannesson,
husband of Duke's granddaughter, Ember Hannesson of Canton, Ga. Afterward,
the family gathered at the Mausoleum for the entombment of Raymond Arthur
Chambers.

Robbins,
96, of Troy, passed away at 12:08 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2008, at
Covington Care Center, Covington.
She was born Dec. 23, 1911, in Randolph County, Ind. to the late
Elias and Sarah (Vick) Mumah. Odessa was preceded in death by her
husband of 31 years, Walter Jones Robbins who passed away
March 5, 1967.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death
by her son, Paul N. Robbins; three sisters, Betty Mumah,
Edith McGrew and Estella Boyer.
Odessa was a graduate of Greenville High School. She retired as a
sales clerk from G.C. Murphy Co. in Troy where she worked for many
years.
She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Troy, where she
was involved with Rebecca Circle.
There will be a private graveside service today at Miami Memorial
Park, Covington. Funeral arrangements are in charge of
Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy. In lieu of flowers, the family
suggests that contributions, if so desired, be made in her memory
to the Covington Care Center Activity Department, 75 Mote Dr.,

E. Robbins,
87, of Tipp City, died suddenly Friday evening, Jan. 25, 2008, at
his residence.
He was born July 16, 1920, in Tipp City, to the late James C. and
Gertrude (Underwood) Robbins.He
was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty E.
Robbins in 1994; and son, Jerry E.
Robbins.
Robbie was retired from Hobart Corp. after 40 years of service. He
continued to work at Chmiels market in Tipp City for 12 years and
then at Wal-Mart in Troy for the past 13 years. He was a World War
II Army Air Corps veteran He was a member of the American Legion
Post 586 Tipp City, the First Baptist Church Tipp City and the
Hobart Quarter Century Club. He loved bowling, fishing and mowing
his lawn. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m.
Thursday at Frings and Bayliff Funeral Home, 327 W. Main St., Tipp
City,. Burial in Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City.

W. Robbins,
81 of Arcanum, passed away Sunday, Aug. 26, 2007, in his home.
He was born June 29, 1926, in Miami County, to the late Forest
Alva "Jim" and Nancy Jane (Landis) Robbins.James
graduated in 1944 from Newton School in Pleasant Hill. He
retired in 1994 from the Trojan Asphalt Company. He served his
country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. He was a life
member of both the VFW in Pleasant Hill and the Amvets in
Covington and a member of the American Legion in West Milton.
He enjoyed his draft horses and participated in several parades
with them.
He married Frances "Kay" (Slusser) Painter, and they
enjoyed a wonderful partnership together for more than 38 years.
James was a family man; he thoroughly enjoyed his kids and
grandkids and family times spent together.
James will be missed and remembered by his wife and best friend,
of Arcanum; his children and their companions.
Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held at 10 a.m.
Wednesday in the Jackson Funeral Home, 1 South Main St.,
Pleasant Hill. Interment will take place in the Mote Cemetery,
Pittsburg with military honors provided by the Tri-Village Color
Guard.
Calling hours will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

Athens, Ga., Regional Hospital. He was born Oct. 31, 1953, in
Troy.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Florence Schwartz in
1994, and his stepfather, Roy D. Schwartz in 1999.
Raymond served in the U.S. Navy from 1973-75.Graveside services

with the Rev. Tom Farrier presiding. The service will be

(Robbins) Bristley,
90, of Troy, passed away Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, at the
Harborside Healthcare Center, Troy.
She was born Feb. 9, 1916 in Darke County, to the late Gerald B.
and Donna M. (Netzley) Robbins.
She attended elementary school in Bradford and also
Franklin-Monroe School, Pitsburg, where she graduated in 1934.
She loved sports and excelled as an outstanding basketball
player at Franklin-Monroe High School.
She owned and operated for many years along with her husband,
Carl R. Bristley, whom she married Nov. 26, 1936, Bristley's
Rooming House at 207 E. Main St. in Troy. She also worked in the
Troy High School cafeteria for many years and retiring from
there.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Bernice
(Robbins) Gnodle; and her husband, Carl R. Bristley, who died
Sept. 21, 1987. She always was devoted to family, friends and
working hard. She always will be remembered, admired and greatly
missed.
Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Baird Funeral
Home, Troy, with the Rev. Sheila Shumaker officiating. Interment
will be in Abbottsville Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.

Violet (Shepherd) Riegle Wade,
89, 405 Chestnut St., Greenville, died at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday,
Sept. 27, 2006, at Gade Nursing Home, Greenville.
She was born Sept. 2, 1917, in Darke County, daughter of Grover
and Flo (Lundry) Shepherd. She also was preceded in death by her
first husband, Alfred O. Riegle; second husband, Dan Wade;
grandson, Barry Riegle; and brothers, Lowell and Ralph Shepherd.
Mrs. Wade worked at Piqua Paper Box for 40 years, retiring in
1982. She also baby-sat until she was 80 years old.
She was a member of Trinity Wesleyan Church, Greenville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Zechar
Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, with the Rev. Elwood Stuart
officiating. Burial will be in Ansonia Cemetery. The family will
receive friends from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Imo Robbins,
89, formerly of 1325 Covington Ave., Piqua, died at 1:10 a.m.
Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006, in Fair Haven Nursing Home in Sidney.
She was born May 16, 1917, in Dayton, to the late Ancel Edgar
and Frances M. (Newman) Beeman.
Mrs. Robbins attended Piqua City Schools. During World
War II she worked at the Wood Stove and Tool Co. and later was a
nurse's aide at the Craft Nursing Home. She retired from Empo
Pump in 1979, following which she enjoyed gardening and
traveling. She was an honorary member of the Fraternal Order of
the Eagles No. 614 Auxiliary, Loyal Order of the Moose No. 1064
Auxiliary, and a member of Houston Congregational Christian
Church, having enjoyed many visits from her pastor. She was
active in Fair Haven's social activities, resident's council
meetings and enjoyed leading the morning exercises.
A private service will be held Tuesday in the Houston
Congregational Christian Church with the Rev. James Manuel
officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled through the Jamieson &

whose death occurred Friday evening in the home of her son-in-law
and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Russell Gates were conducted at 2 p.m.
Monday in the Irvin Funeral Home. Rev. Robert D. Annand
minister of the First Methodist Church officiated reading the
hymns "Under His Wings" and "Goodnight and Good
Morning" during the service. Pallbearers were four
sons-in-laws Mr. Gates, Mr. Lester Townsend, Thoral Grapner of
Troy and Cloyd Elleman of Casstown and two grandsons Robert
Townsend of Troy and William Elleman of Casstown. Friends
were present from Lima, Ft. Loramie and Pleasant Hill.

Evelyn J. Bowman, 77, of Troy, died at 12:24
p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005, at Upper Valley Medical Center, after

husband, Eugene E. Bowman, who passed away Feb. 15, 2005, and son,

Mrs.
Alice Chambers,
68, a native of Miami County passed away Saturday evening at the
home of her son-in-law, Elmer Robbins, on South Union Street.
She had been in an ailing condition all
winter, but was taken seriously ill one week ago Thursday.
Her death was due to arteriosclerosis.
Mrs. Chambers had lived with her
son-in-law since the death of her daughter 23 years ago.
Their home was in Tennessee prior to coming to Troy eight years
ago.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs.
Grace Sheppard (Shepherd), Mrs. Nora Sheppard (Shepherd), and Mrs.
Hazel Brown, all of Lima; two sons Frank Inman of Tampa, Fla., and
Elmer Chambers of Ft. Loramie, four sisters, Mrs. Vida (Lydia)
Strong and Mrs. Daisy Stout of both of Pleasant Hill, Mrs. Pearl
Jones, of near Christianburg, and Mrs. Nettie Chambers of Ft.
Loramie.
One son preceded her in death in 1916
She was laid to rest in Riverside
Cemetery, following funeral services by Dr. J. H. Lightburn
Tuesday morning at 10:00 o'clock a.m. The services were held
at Wade Shilling Funeral Parlors.
The following Relatives and friends acted
as pall bearers of the decedent. They were Edward and Walter
Robbins, Oscar Shear, Ray Lendeke, Ed Sharit and Clarence Russell.

- The funeral of William Brown, aged 25 years, who was suddenly killed at
Covington, Ohio on Saturday night by falling over embankment by reason of
his pony running away, took place in the Christian Church here Monday
conducted by Rev. J. O. Kirby.
The mother and the family and all other good
friends have the sympathy of all good people.

Legonier - Ivalou Warren, 78 of Ligonier,
died Nov. 9, 2002 in St. Vincent's Hospital, New York, NY. She was
born April 6, 1924 in Miami County, Ohio, to William E. and Gladys Mae
Walker Siegel.
On Sept. 27, 1947, in Troy, Ohio, she married Floyd Warren, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons; including Robert K. Warren, Cromwell; three
daughters including Mrs. Randy (Ruthe E.) Jones, Warsaw; eight
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Legonier Presbyterian Church with
the Rev. Bernauer officiating. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Ulrey-Renner Funeral Home,
Legonier, with the Order of the Eastern Star Service at 7:45 p.m.

Sheila
J. Hutton,
39, of Piqua, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002 at 5:35 a.m. in her
residence. She was born Dec. 9, 1962 in Piqua to the late Wilber
and Gladys (Coyer) Brown. She married Anthony (Scott) Hutton Sept.
2, 1995; he survives. Mrs. Hutton is survived by a son, Robert
Shoffner Jr., and her father-in-law, Raymond J. Hutton both of
Piqua. She is also survived by four brothers, Wilber Brown Jr.,
William D. Brown, Do-nald Brown and Michael Brown all of Piqua;
and three sisters, Marsha Moore, Tina Brown and Lorna Taylor all
of Piqua. One nephew and one brother preceded her in death. Sheila
attended Piqua City Schools and Central Baptist Church. She loved
camping, nature and collecting angels. Funeral services will be 1
p.m. today at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas
Farrier officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from noon until the time of services.

E. Chambers,
86, of Houston, died on Monday, Dec. 9, 2002 at 3:35 a.m. at his
residence. He was born in Piqua on May 9, 1916 to the late Martin C. and
Sarah M. Wion Chambers. He married Dorothy L. Bauer on July 19, 1952 in
Fletcher; and she survives. Other survivors include two sisters, Lillian
B. Marshall of Franklin, Louise V. Spieler of St. Mary's; two
step-sisters, Dorothy Leckey of Minster, Betty Shephard of Piqua; a
step-brother, Martin C. Chambers of Piqua; and many nieces, nephews,
cousins, and a host of friends. Mr. Chambers was preceded in death by a
son, Mark; a sister, Evelyn Harget; a brother, Donald; and a step-brother,
Eugene Dietz. Mr. Chambers was a member of the Mid County Church of
Christ. He was a 1939 graduate of the Canal Fulton High School in Akron.
He was a retired S/MSGT of the U.S. Air Force following 25 years of
service to his country. He was an instructor of "Airplane
General" working at many of the Air Force Bases in the United States,
England, Germany, and Puerto Rico. He was a maintenance supervisor for the
City of Piqua in the wastewater treatment plant for 16 years. A funeral
service will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday in the Jamieson and Yannucci
Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Oakes officiating. Burial will follow in
Houston Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. in the
funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Mid County Church of

J. Thomas,
53, of 206 N. Roosevelt Ave., Piqua, died at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday,
Dec. 11, 2002 in the Piqua Manor Nursing Home. He was born in
Piqua on Jan. 25, 1949 to the late John William and Violet Hill
Thomas.
Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry,
David and Timothy Thomas and one sister, Dora Thomas. Mr. Thomas
was a graduate of both Piqua Central High School and Wittenberg
University where he was valedictorian of his class. He enjoyed
basketball during his high school and collegiate years. He was a
self-employed consultant and a member of the Piqua Apostolic
Church. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the
Jamieson and Yannucci Funeral Home with the Rev. Daniel Hathaway
officiating. Private interment will be held at the convenience of
the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Piqua

F. Townsend,
83, of 504 Y St., Piqua, died at 10:15 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29,
2003 in the Piqua Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Piqua on
Nov. 8, 1920 to the late Homer B. and Iona Brown Shawler. She
married J. D. Townsend in Russells Point on June 7, 1947 and he
survives.
She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Mrs.
Townsend was a homemaker, and a graduate of Sidney High School,
class of 1938. A private service will be conducted at the
convenience of the family with the Rev. Edward Ellis officiating.
Burial will follow in Miami Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements
are being handled through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral
Home.

65, of Troy, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, at the home of her
daughter, Tina Cruikshank of Casstown. She was born April 30, 1938
in Honeybee, Ky., to Wosley and Flossie (Gooden) Perry, both
deceased.
In addition to her parents, Velma was preceded in death by her
son, Brian Lee Buirley. She was a member of the Women of the Moose
No.1025 of Troy and Amvet Post No. 88 of Troy and was formerly
employed by Dare Corp. of Troy. A memorial service will be at 2
p.m., Saturday at the Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy, with the
Rev. Ed Ellis officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to
the service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. There also will be a
Women of the Moose service at 1:50 p.m. Saturday at the funeral

60, of 8580 N. Hetzler Road, Piqua, died at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday,
April 29, 2003 in Fulton Co. He was born in Winamac, Ind. on Sept.
26, 1942 to the late Homer and Edna Stout.
Mr. Stout was owner of Stout Trucking in Piqua, and a member of
the Piqua Moose Lodge. He loved his three Huskies dogs, Lady,
Sassy and Isaac. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m.
Monday in the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with the Rev.
Roger Toon officiating. Burial will follow in Dayton Memorial Park

I. Heisey,
94, of Covington, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003. She was born in
Shelby County on Aug. 10, 1909, to the late Charles and Minnie
(Langston) Stockslager. She was a 1929 graduate of Piqua High
School. She was was an active Grange member for many years and a
member of the Bradford Church of the Brethren. She lived in
Bradford for 50 years and spent her last 23 years in Covington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years,
J.D. Heisey. in 1988; grandson, Jeffery Davis; two younger
sisters, Vivian Allred and Zelda Hunt; and a brother, Paul
Stockslager.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at
Bridges-Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home, Covington, with the Rev.
James Brunk officiating. Burial will be in Miami Memorial Park
Cemetery, Covington. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at
the funeral home.

E. Batten,
93, of 1840 W. High St., Piqua, died at 2:50 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 14,
2003 in the Piqua Manor Nursing Home.
She was born in Darke County on May 24, 1910 to the late Ralph and
Odean Carter Haines Sr. She married LeRoy "Vin" Batten
on June 29, 1937 in Greenville; he preceded her in death on Aug.
28, 1975.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Haines, William
Haines; three sisters, Celia Momberg Trupp, Mary Benkert, Ruth
Koenitzer; and a daughter, Susan Batten Whited Daniels.
Mrs. Batten was a 1928 graduate of Greenville High School, and
Balthasers Business College of Greenville in 1929. She worked as
the secretary of Greenville High School until 1937, then worked
over 20 years at the former Haines Furriers of Piqua. She was a
member of the YWCA of Piqua, Piqua Leisure Club, Home Arts Club,
and volunteered as a hostess at the former Piqua Memorial Medical
Center for many years.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17,
2003 in the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne
Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

95, of Laura passed away Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, in the Piqua Manor Nursing
Home in Piqua. He was born June 20, 1909, in Miami County to the late
Louis and Fanny (Thompson) Bucholtz.
Calling hours will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in the Jackson Funeral Home,
1 South Maun St. in Pleasant Hill. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m.
Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor Ron Elite officiating. Burial

p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, in her residence. She was born in
Wetzel Aug. 31, 1915, to the late James and Catherine Karnes
Bowersock.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday
in St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Thomas J. Grillot as
celebrant. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. The family
will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. today at Jamieson and Yannucci
Funeral Home, where a 4 p.m. prayer service will be conducted.

83, a longtime resident of Alterra Sterling House, Troy, and of
Tipp City, died at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, at Spring-meade
Health Center,Tipp City.
She was born on Aug. 16, 1922, in Malden, Mass., to the late
Phillip and Edith (Spencer) Gillette. She married Charles D. Coder
in 1943, and he preceded her in death on May 21, 1987.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Plemin Gillette,
Stewart Gillette, Everett Gillette and Harold Gillette and by two
sisters, Mary Olson and Pearl Beaman.
Mrs. Coder was very active in all capacities at the Christ United
Methodist Church in Malden, Mass. She was a 1941 graduate of
Malden High School, Malden, Mass., where she was valedictorian.
She was a former accountant with Jackson Industries.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, at Sterling House,
81 S. Stanfield Road, Troy. Contributions may be made to Christ

COVINGTON - Samuel Otto Keiser, 77, of 214 S.
Harrison died Monday at 8:10 a.m. in Dettmer General Hospital
where he had been a patient one day.
Born in Carol County, Ind., June 28, 1897, he was a
son of William and Miranda Yertz Keiser. He was maried to Dora
Palsgrove in Bradford on Feb. 16, 1919.
Mr. Keiser was a member of the Church of the
Brethren. He had retired from Hobart Brothers in Troy.
Survivors include his wife, Dora; one son, Kenneth,
of Covington, and one brother, William Leo, of Troy. One sister
preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1:30
p.m. in the Pearson Funeral Home, by the Rev. Thomas Duff. Burial
will be in Highland Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 2
to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

According to family information Alice left Jerry Chambers and her other
children after her daughter (Della?) died and she went to live with her
daughter's husband Elmer Robbins and raised his children by her. She
is buried in Riverside Cemetery, Miami Co., OH.
An Alice Chambers (buried 4-29-1930) is lcoated in Section 9, Row 10,
Grave 5. Enter the cemetery's north entrance by the Chapel and
office (not at the four way stop). You will be on Central Avenue.
Stay on Central pass the Chapel. The big mausoleum on the left sits
in the front part of section9. Stan on Central until you reach the
end of the section. Section 9 is on the left (north) and you see
headstones in rows. Count back ten rows. First headstone in
row 10 is for Shefmire, Alice is to the right. She does not have a
headstone. On the other side of Alice is headstone for Peterseim.
