Mrs. Colleen Suessman Fromm, 71, 602 Spring street died at 7:20 a. m. Monday at Piqua Memorial hospital where she had been a patient since November 22 and in failing health for several months.
Born in Cincinnati September 24, 1873, she was the daughter of August J. and Caroline Horst Suessman, natives of Germany. She came to Piqua after her marriage to August Fromm and the latter part of her life resided at 1227 Park avenue, establishing herself at the Spring street residence about a year ago. She was a member of St. james Episcopal church and most active in church work. Her nearest surviving relatives are two nephews, Emery Dutcher of San Francisco and Riley Dutcher of Minneapolis, Minn. Her husband and two brothers preceded her in death. The Rev. Paul J. Gehm will conduct services Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Wagner funeral home with burial in Forest Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon on Wednesday.

Mrs. Martha Elizabeth Cofield, 83, widow of William Oscar Cofield, died Saturday at her on 817 S. Main street from the effects of a fractured hip, which she suffered September 11.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Madison Home For Funerals on W. High street, burial to be in Forest Hill cemetery.
She was born in Nevada, Iowa, June 17, 1861, but had resided in Piqua 60 years. For 24 years she was employed at the Orr Pelt & Blanket Co., here. The daughter of James and Nancy Perry Cofield, she was a member of the Church of Christ in Shelby county the home of her mother. Surviving are two children, Miss Rowene E. Cofield and Miss Bonnie E. Cofield at home, two brothers, and a sister, and one son, Larry having preceded her in death. Friends may call at the funeral home until time for services Wednesday.

Mrs. Catherine Holler, 83, widow of Michael Holler, died at 6:05 a.m. today at the home of her son Frank Holler, 500 South Wayne street, where she had been ill for ten months.
Born in Minster February 13, 1861, she was the daughter of Barney and Mary Hinders Vocke. She had lived in Piqua for 60 years and was married November 25, 1885. She was a member of the St. Boniface church, of the Ladies Auxiliary, Knights of St. John and Clara Sodality. She leaves her son Frank of Piqua; two grandsons, Paul Holler of Troy and James Holler, with the navy in the South Pacific. Three great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
The Rev. A. C. Monter will conduct services Friday at 9 a.m. at the church with burial in Forest Hill cemetery. The body was taken to the Conley funeral home and prepared for burial and will be returned to the residence Thursday when friends may call any time after noon until the hour of the funeral. Members of St. Clara Society of St. Boniface church and St. Margaret's Auxiliary will meet for prayers at 7:30 o'clock Thursday evening at the Holler residence, 500 S. Wayne street

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Sam Trowbridge home, 504 E. Main street, for George Trowbridge, 73, who died there Tuesday night from the effects of a stroke he suffered while attending a sale at the Harry Alexander farm, Route 2, Greenville recently. The Rev. G. E. Weaver will officiate with burial to be in Gettysburg cemetery.
A native of Darke county, Trowbridge had been active in farming for more then 50 years, The brother Sam of Bradford and a sister, Mrs. Nora Schneck of Chattanooga, Tenn., are the only immediate survivors.

D. Frank Wyatt, 79, retired farmer, died at 1 p.m. Wednesday at his residence, 825 Boal avenue, where he had been in ill health for two years.
Born December 21, 1866, south of Mt. Jefferson, he was the son of Joseph and Mary C. Wyatt. He had resided on a farm west of Piqua for 20 years and in this city for seven years. He was married November 29, 1900. He was a member of the Houston Christian church.
Survivors are his wife Laura; three sons, Joseph, in California, Frederick of Piqua and Paul of Greensbecurer, Md.; sister, Mrs. Laura Holbert of Piqua, and three brothers, George of Piqua, Charles of Dayton and Reuban of Lansing, Mich. *Funeral arrangements are pending word from the son in Maryland. The body was taken to the Wagner funeral home.

Following failing health of the past 14 months, Hazel May Collins, 59, died at Piqua Memorial hospital at 1:50 o'clock this morning after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage at her home, 229 First street at 9 o'clock Monday evening. The daughter of Samuel and Jennie Derr Collins, she was born August 5, 1885 in Piqua and had resided here all her life. She had been employed at the Atlas Underwear company for 38 years and was a member of the Grace Methodist church.
Survivors are an aunt Mrs. John White of Dayton; two nieces, Mrs. George Fox and Mrs. Herman Cordes and two nephews. Floyd and Donald Collins of Indianapolis. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the J.C. Cron and sons funeral home, the Rev. A. K. Wilson officiating with burial in Forest Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral Wednesday afternoon and evening and until the hour of rites Thursday.

Mrs. Mary Catherine Norris Wilson, 68, wife of Charles Wilson, died at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at her home, 114 N. Main street. She had been in failing health for seven years.
Born in Piqua April 20, 1876, she was the daughter of Daniel and Susan Kennedy Norris and had lived here all her life.
She is survived by her husband and two brothers, Forrest E. Norris of Vandalia, route 1, and Edward J. Norris of Dayton. The Rev. J. W. Kuck will conduct services Friday at 3 p.m. at the J. C. Cron and Sons funeral home with burial in Forest Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, Thursday afternoon and evening and Friday.

Although she had not been well for several years, the death of Mrs. Emma Belle Stickler, 82, wife of James G. Stickler, came as a great shock to her wide circle of friends when they learned that a heart attack had resulted fatally after only a day's illness at her home, 627 Boone street.
Born October 3, 1862, in Springcreek township, she was the daughter of Elihu and Margaret Russell Sanders. She had lived in Miami county all her life and was married December 5, 1880, she and her husband having celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary just a month ago. 
She was a member of the Presbyterian church and of the Sunshine Circle. She had lived in Piqua for 38 years. She leaves her husband, a son C. Foster Stickler; two daughters, Mrs. Howard H. (Mary) Miller of Detroit and Mrs. Howard d. (Ellen) Rice of Piqua; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. A daughter, Bernice, died in 1909.
The Rev. John C. Inglis will conduct services at 2 p.m. Monday at the J. C. Cron and Sons chapel with burial in the cemetery at Fletcher. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday afternoon and evening and Monday until time of services.

Mrs. Emma Rose Hickman, 75, route 1, widow of Wilbur Hickman, died at Piqua Memorial hospital Wednesday where she had been a patient for 14 weeks. She had been ill for a year.
The daughter of Moses and Mary Koonts Exter, she was born September 3, 1869 in Darke county and was married December 18, 1889, her husband preceded her in death. She was a member of the Covington Congregational Christian church.
Surviving are a son Ralph at home; three daughters, Mrs. Glenna Jackson and Mrs. Irene Shafer, both of Covington route 1 and Mrs. Florence Minnich of Brookville; a sister, Mrs. Belle Rench of Covington; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
 Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Routzahn funeral home. The Rev. Ray O. Shank officiating, with burial in Highland cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home tonight, Friday and until the hour of services Saturday.

John Henry Banning, 65, employed at the Jackson Steel Tube company but associated for many years with the Morrow Transfer company, who resided at 331 McKinley avenue, died at 6:55 p.m. Friday at Piqua Memorial hospital where he was admitted January 19.
Born in Piqua September 18, 1879, he was the son of Henry and Sarah Dill Banning. He had lived here all his life and on October 30, 1901, was united in marriage with Edna Mae Brown, who survives him.
He leaves his wife, Edna Mae; four sons, John of Gallipolis, Arthur of Piqua, Harry of Fletcher and Leo of Piqua; three daughters, Mrs. George (Nellie) Arnett, Mrs. Raymond (Sarah) Edwards, both of Piqua, and Mrs. Willard (Gladys) Chester of Maplewood, a sister, Mrs. William Brucken of Pontiac, Mich., and 12 grandchildren, a brother, William died November 20, 1944. 
The Rev. A. K. Wilson will conduct services Monday at 2 p.m. at the J. C. Cron and Sons chapel with burial in Forest Hill cemetery. Friends may call Sunday afternoon and evening and Monday at the funeral home.

 

Mrs. Esther Reutter, of Bradford, 90, died at the home of her son-in-law William f. Whittmer, E. Church street Friday after an extended illness.
A son Max of Newark is the only immediate survivor. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Cheater Stocker funeral home, the Rev. E. A. Leason officiating. Burial will be in Harris Creek cemetery.

Rev. Paul Gehm of the St. Paul's Evangelical church of Piqua will officiate at services Thursday, 1:30 p.m. at the residence and at 2 p.m. at the St. John's church in Troy for Mrs. Frieda Dora Kruger Pfister, 67, who died at her home, 620 S. Clay street Monday. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery.
Born in Hanover, Germany, she was the widow of John C. Pfister, the couple having been married in St. Petersburg, Russia in June of 1896, coming to Troy in May, 1898. Survivors include four sons, Herman, Christian A., Charles and Paul all of Troy; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Ewing, Lockland; and seven grandchildren.

Services for Mrs. Lola Deeter Bruce, 79, native of Troy, who died Sunday at her home, 105 S. High street, Covington, after a heart attack were held at the Irvin funeral home today with burial in Riverside cemetery. She was a resident of Troy until three years ago.

Funeral services for Charles Daniel Beaver, will beheld Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the J. C. Cron and Sons funeral, in charge of Rev. Norman R. Gutry with burial in Forest Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, Wednesday and Thursday until time for the services.

Mrs. Anna Tracy Miller Huston, 61, wife of Albert Huston, died at her home two miles east of Piqua on the Urbana road, Route 36, where she had been afflicted with a heart condition for five years and bedfast since last Thursday.
Born in Piqua, July 15, 1883, she was the daughter of John and Katherine Copp Miller, and had resided in and near Piqua all her life.
She is survived by her husband; three sons, Charles, Robert and Albert Huston, Jr.; five daughters, Mrs. Fred P (Marie) Miller, Mrs. Alva (Katherine) Williams, Mrs. Dwight (Louise) Purk, Mrs. Walter (Laura) Stengle and Miss Mildred Huston, all of Piqua, route 3, two sisters, Mrs. Hary  Harboldt of Piqua, route 2, and Mrs. Laura Nicodemus of Piqua and 10 grandchildren. A son Arthur, died in 1918.
The Rev. Norman Gutry will conduct services at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the residence with burial in Forest Hill cemetery.
The body was taken to the Finfrock funeral home and will be  returned to the residence where friends may call Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

A. J. Scvhlanzer, 64, died at 11 p.m., Sunday at his residence, 640 S. Wayne street, where he had been bedfast since October and in failing health since July when he retired from business.
Born in Indianapolis May 4, 1880, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Scvhlanzer. He was married to Miss Norene Gillespie on June 3, 1902, and came to Piqua 40 years ago. He had been engaged in the automotive electric repair business for 23 years, with his shop at 513 N. Main street. He was a member of St. Mary's church.
Surviving are his wife, Norene; a daughter, Miss Irene Scvhlanzer; four brothers, Joseph, Edward and William of Indianapolis and Frank of Goldfield, Nev., and two sisters, Mrs. Mayme Snyder of Indianapolis and Mrs. Clara Blair of Lansing, Mich.
The Rev. Robert Van Kaenel will conduct services at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's church with burial in Forest Hill cemetery.
The body was removed to the J. C. Cron and Sons funeral home and was taken to the residence this afternoon where friends may call until time for the funeral.

Robert Frank Mikolajewski, 35, died at 4 p.m. Tuesday at his residene, 529 South street, where he had been ill for seven years.

Born in Piqua October 18, 1909, he was the son of Peter and Amelia Kettles Mikolajewski and had lived here all his life. His mother died May 11, 1911, when his brother Henry was born. Later his father was united in marriage with Miss Grace Gogghagan, who has been a devoted and beloved mother to these boys as well as the children she bore later.
Robert was a core maker at the Favorite Stove and Range company. He was a member of St. Mary's church and of the Faternal Order of Eagles.
Surviving are his parents, with whom he resided; four brothers, Henry and John of Piqua; Pvt. William, with the Air Corps in England, and Pfc. Charles, with the U.S. Marines in the South Pacific, and five sisters, Betty, Virginia, Frances, Mary Jean and Joan all at home.
Rev. Robert Van Kaenel will conduct services at 9 a.m. Friday  at St. Mary's church with burial in Forest Hill cemetery.
The body was taken to the Conley funeral home and will be returned to the residence Thursday when friends may call until the hour of services.

Richard L. Kipp, 33, of Greenville, member of a well known Piqua family, died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday at Lima, following an illness of 18 months.
Born here November 5, 1911, he was the son of Fred and Frances Becker Kipp. He lived in Piqua until he was 17 years of age, when he moved with his family to Greenville. He was a member of St. Boniface church and was a window trimmer by trade. He leaves two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Manix and Mrs. Grover Menkel, both of Greenville, and a nephew, John Fred Manix. The Rev. A. C. Monter will conduct services at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Boniface church with burial in Forest Hill cemetery. The body was brought to the Finfrock funeral home this morning. Friends may call there until the time of the funeral.

Hanford Kerr, 77, member of a Miami county pioneer family, died Saturday at 8 p.m. in the St. Elizabeth hospital where on Friday he had undergone surgery for the amputation of the leg at his knee. He had suffered an infection of the right foot for the past two years.
Mr. Kerr was born in Monroe township, the son of Perry and Susan Kessler Kerr, and was educated in the Miami county schools. He was engaged in farming in Miami county until 15 years ago, when he went to Florida and engaged in nursery business in that state.
Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Sadie Swartsel of Shiloh, Mrs. Anna Tenney of Toledo, and Mrs. Edna Beckett of Cleveland; a brother-in-law, D. E. Blackmore of Troy. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 2:20 p.m. in Polk Grove church with burial made in the cemetery there.

Dr. A.H. Haworth-Found Dead in Bed at Troy Home Friday. Burial at Potsdam--Dr. Albert H. Haworth, 78, native of Union Township and first Miami County Health Commissioner, died in sleep at his home 114 North Market Street, Troy, Friday morning, apparently from a heart attack. His wife became aware of his death when she went to call him at 7:45 a.m.
It was the opinion of the family that he had died about 4 or 5 o'clock.
He suffered a severe heart attack five months ago, but had recently appeared in good health.
He graduated from Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1896and had practiced medicine more than 50 years, the earlier years being in Potsdam, New Madison and West Milton. His home and office in West Milton were at Main and Hayes Streets, the property now owned by L.W. Brumbaugh.
He and Mrs. Haworth moved to Troy in 1920 after his appointment as the first health commissioner of Miami County, a position he held until 1925. No longer in public service, he began private practice in Troy.
Dr. Haworth was a member of the American Medical Society and it's state and county organizations; of Masonic lodge here and former member of the local Congregational Christian Church.
He was born to Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Haworth on September 23, 1869, and on May 16, 1895 was united in Marriage with Lida A. Welbaum of Potsdam. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1945.
Surviving besides the widow, are two sons, Eldrid, near Phillipsburg, and Russell, a practicing dentist in Troy, three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Preston, of Dayton and two sisters, Mrs. Amos Surber, Pitsburg and Mrs. Theodore Swank, West Milton, R. 1.
Services were held at the Fisher Funeral Home, Troy, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Frank Thomas, Greenville, in charge. Entombment was made in the private mausoleum, erected in Potsdam Cemetery a few years ago, for Dr. and Mrs. Haworth.

Obituary:
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in his late home for Clarindon Haworth, 79, retired farmer, who died at his resident at the west edge of Milton at 3 a.m. Saturday. Rev. S.A. Blessing was in charge of the last rites and interment was made in the Potsdam Cemetery in charge of Hale funeral directors.
Mr. Haworth had been ill for quite some time with a heart condition. He was a lifelong resident of Miami County and is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ella Haworth; son, Lee of Brookville; daughter, Mrs. Mabel Maier, Dayton; two sisters, Mrs. Amos Surber, Pitsburg; Mrs. Theo Swank, West Milton R.1; two brothers, Dr. A.H. Haworth, Troy, T.C. Haworth of Dayton; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Obituary:
Richard O. Penny, Retired Fireman, Dies in Hospital--Richard O. Penny, 62, retired Troy Fire Dept. employee, of 113 1/2 North Market Street, died Friday at 7:45 a.m. at the Stouder Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for the past six days. He had undergone surgery Tuesday.
A native of Laura, Mr. Penny was born Sept. 17, 1889, a son of Wesley and Sarah Muck Penny. He married Evora Jane Abshire in 1936 after the death of his first wife. He was a mamber of the Eagles lodge.
Mr. Penny was employed as a fireman for the city fire department for 31 years, retiring because of illness on May 1 of this year. He was promoted to the position of lieutenant on July 1, 1948, and served in that capacity until Aug. 1, 1948.
Surviving are his wife; three children, William Penny of Troy, Willard Penny of West Milton and Mrs. Robert Brown of Detroit, Mich.; one brother, Harry Penny of Pleasant Hill; three sisters, Mrs. Maud Dunkel of Dayton, Mrs. Emma Coate of Corfu, N.Y., and Mrs. Lillie Hellman of Ithaca, Mich.; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at the Fisher Funeral Home with Rev. A.C. Decker, pastor of the First Congregational Christian Church, officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.

William Hollingsworth, 71, a resident of the Valley Nursing Home in St. Marys, died at 5:14 p.m. Monday at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.

He was born Jun 10, 1912, in New Bremen, the son of Frank and Elnora (Bruns) Hollingsworth. Mr Hollingsworth was the former owner of the Hollingsworth Hotel in New Bremen. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Gilberg Funeral Home, Rev. James O. Byrne, officiating. Burial in Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City.

Libby Welbaum,62. who died at Stouder Memorial hospital Saturday of injuries suffered in an auto, accident Christmas Day. Burial was in Mote cemetery. She is survived by four sons, Carl Welbaum, Bruford Welbaum and Ora Welbaum all of Dayton , and Albert Dewey of Troy, and by two brothers, John Westfall of Covington, Ky„ and Arthur Westfall of Greenville .

Death of Mrs. Sophia Gibson.
At half past two yesterday afternoon at her late residence No. 820 W. Water, occurred the death of Mrs. Sophia Gibson, widow of the late Joseph Gibson, to whom she was married on October 8th 1816.  The deceased was a daughter of Stephen Depray. One of the early settlers of Piqua, was born April 15, 1824, and had resided here all her life, being 67 years, 8 months, and 2 days old.  The funeral will occur from the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, of which she was a faithful member, tomorrow morning at 7:45 o’clock, Interment at the Catholic Cemetery.

Death of Mrs. Sophia Gibson.
Mrs. Sophia Gibson died at her home No. 820 west Water street, at 6 o'clock last evening of La Grippe, aged 67 years 8 months and 3 days.
Mrs. Gibson was born in Piqua on April 15th, 1824.  Her maiden name was Sophia Dupray.  She was united in marriage to Joseph Gibson on the 8th of October, 1846.
Funeral services will be held at the St. Mary’s Catholic church Saturday morning at 7:45 o’clock, Rev. Edward Hickey, officiating.  Interment at the Catholic cemetery.

Mrs. Anna Tracy Miller Huston, 61, wife of Albert Huston, died at 3:15 p. m. Monday at her home two miles east of Piqua on the Urbana road. Route 36, where she had been afflicted with a heart condition for five years and bedfast since last Thursday.

Born in Piqua, July 15, 1883, she was the daughter of John and Katherine Copp Miller, and had resided in and near Piqua all her life.

She is survived by her husband; three sons, Charles. Robert and Albert Huston, Jr.; five daughters, Mrs. Fred P. Miner (Marie), Mrs. Alva Williams (Katherine), Mrs. Dwight Purk (Louise), Mrs. Walter Stengle (Laura) and Miss Mildred Huston, all of Piqua; a brother, Joseph Miller of Piqua, route 3, two sisters. Mrs. Hary Harboldt of Piqua, route 2, and Mrs. Laura Nico-
demus of Piqua and 10 grandchildren.  A son, Arthur, died in 1918.

The Rev. Norman Gutry will conduct services at 2:30 p. m. Friday at the residence with burial in Forest Hill cemetery. 
The body was taken to the Finfrock funeral home and will be returned to the residence where friends may call Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Obit: Edward G. Kingham, of Casstown, died Thursday at the State Odd Fellows Home in Springfield, where he had been for the last three months.
He was born September 26, 1830 in Oxfordshire, near London, England, and was ten years of age when he came with his parents to America and settled near Franklin. Until two years ago Mr. Kingham had lived in Casstown, when he went to make his home with a son at Conover.
Mr. Kingham was a member of the Odd Fellows at Casstown and the Lutheran church in that village. He was a well known broom manufacturer during his life. Frank C Roberts took charge of the remains on Friday and the funeral services were held at the Casstown Lutheran church at 2:00 o’clock Saturday afternoon, with the Rev. H.L. Meister of the First Lutheran church in charge

Obit: Elfreda, the five-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kingham of Casstown, died shortly after midnight after an illness of several months due to a tumor.  She was a bright happy little girl and her parents have the heartfelt sympathy of all.  The funeral was held at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Casstown Lutheran church, the Rev. C. E. Paulus of Troy officiating. A large company was in attendance.

Obit: Mrs. Mary Kingham died yesterday at her home in Conover after a lingering illness. She was a native of Xenia where she was born in 1857. Her death occurred at the age of 75 years.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Frank funeral parlors in St. Paris. Burial will take place in the cemetery at Casstown.
