Philip Hemp, of Dayton, uncle of Mrs. Carrie Smyers and Cal Hemp
of this city, died at his late home Sunday night of apoplexy. The
attack came on suddenly, upon Mr. Hemp's return from church. He
formerly lived in Germantown and was well known in this city. A
widow and son survive.
Mr. and Mrs. Cal Hemp and Mrs. Smyers will attend the funeral
which takes place in Dayton tomorrow.

August Frank Smith, 69,
Huber Heights, Ohio died Wed., Apr. 30, 2009. He was a Hardin county
native and attended Elizabethtown High and many government schools. He was
retired from the Air Force, Boening Military Airplane Co., in Wichita,
Kansas and the Aeronautical Systems Division of Wright Patterson Air Force
Base in Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents Clement & Thelma
Smith. Survived by his wife Patricia L. Johnson Smith, a daughter, Vicki
L. Marlow and Michael V. Smith, both of Huber Heights, 3 step-daughters
Colleen Bevins, Carmen Klinger and Caryn Thomas, 2 step-sons Craig Childs
and Chris Childs. Funeral services was at 1 p.m. Sat., at Newcomer-Farley
Funeral Home, Dayton, Ohio, with burial in Riverside cemetery, Troy, Ohio.

503 N. West Alexandria, Ohio, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 1995, at Good
Samaritan Hospital in Dayton. He was born March 9, 1912, in Johnson
County, Ky., the son of Albert and Dorra Murray Boyd. He was a World
War II Navy veteran serving on the USS Guadalcanal. He retired from
General Motors in 1973 after 27 years. He was preceded in death by
his wife, Lillian, in 1980. Survivors include three daughters, Dora
Kingsley, Alice Boyd and Nancy Hannah, all of West Alexandria; two sons,
Charles Ward of New Lebanon, Ohio, and Walter Ward of West Alexandria; 13
grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Verda Woollard,
Dayton, Zelda Short, Meally Ky., Thelma Meadows, Paintsville, Ky., Tean
Van Hook, and E. L. Huelsman, both of Daphne, Ala. He was also
preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. Service will be
11 a.m., Friday, Sept 29, at Lindloff-Zimmerman Funeral Home, with the
Rev. J. Herman Bassler officiating. Burial will be in Fairview
Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral
home. Memorial contributions may be made to the West Alexandria
Emergency Squad.

Two Hurt Fatally
Fire and traffic accident were listed today as causes of two deaths here. Jesse
Dixon, resident on the new troy pike north of Dayton, died in a hospital
of a skull fracture suffered Monday when he was hit by an automobile.
Mrs. Edna Jamieson of Germantown pike, succumbed to burns suffered late
yesterday when a coal oil heater exploded in her home.

CLYDE R. ROCKHILL, 67 of 1217 E. Second St., Dayton, died at 6:30 p.m.
in a Dayton rest home following an illness of four days. Mr. Rockhill
was born in Rockport on Oct. 23, 1882 and had made his residence in Lima and
Dayton for several years. He was a member of the Rockport Methodist
Church. Surviving are a sister Mrs. W. H. Joseph and several
nieces and nephews. The body will remain at the Chiles and Son Funeral
Home for services at 1:00 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Willard Thomas will
officiate and burial will be at Blue Lick Cemetery.

HARLEY M. ROCKHILL.
Funeral services will be Wednesday afternoon in the Wayne Funeral Home in
Dayton for Harley H. Rockhill 60, formerly of Lima, who died Saturday in Miami
Valley Hospital, Dayton, of injuries received when a truck struck him.
Rockhill reportedly was walking on the Harshmanville Road near Dayton when the
accident occurred. He was born in Rockport and had resided in Dayton for
19 years. Surviving are his widow, Mary; a sister Mrs. Sylvia Joseph,
Route 1; and a brother Clyde, Dayton. Burial will be in Blue Lick
Cemetery.
