Two Hurt Fatally: Fire and traffic accident were listed today as causes of two deaths here. Jesse Dixon, resident on the new troy pike north of Dayton, died in a hospital of a skull fracture suffered Monday when he was hit by an automobile.
Mrs. Edna Jamieson of Germantown pike, succumbed to burns suffered late yesterday when a coal oil heater exploded in her home.

JEWETT -- Class of 1827 - ADAMS JEWETT. Born, July 26, 1807, St. Johnsbury, Vt. Fifth child of Luther and Betsey (Adams) Jewett. Fitted for college in Hanover, N.H. After graduation he was tutor in the home of Governor Murphy of Alabama for two years, and then taught at Spring Hill College, Ala., until the fall of 1833, when he went to Paris, France, where he spent four years in the study of medicine and surgery, and won by competitive examination a position as externe to the hospital under the celebrated surgeon, Valpean. In 1837 he received his degree "Bachelier es Lettres" from the Academie de Paris, and in 1838 the degree of M.D., by examination, from the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh, Scotland. Returning to America, in 1839 he began the practice of medicine in Mobile, Ala., removed to Dayton, Ohio, in 1842, because "unable to rear a family under the blighting influence of slavery." A quiet Abolitionist, his house was one of the "stations" of the "Underground Railroad." He was examining surgeon for pensions from 1866 until death. Died of pneumonia, Mar. 11, 1875, at Dayton, Ohio. Married, July 3, 1841, Mary Prescott Putnam Smith, daughter of Moses and Sarah (Sawyer) Smith, of Lancaster, Mass., who died at Dayton, Ohio, May 8, 1895. Children: Henrietta, Sarah, Henry Smith, Luther Hibbard, Florence Smith, of whom all but Henry Smith died in early life.
