ELIZA BAILEY

Eliza Bailey was born December 11, 1807, and died February 1, 1894 Piketon, Ohio. She was the youngest daughter of John Guthery and a granddaughter to Colonel John Guthery, a revolutionary war officer, who became one of the first settlers of the Scioto valley and one of the first residents of Piketon. She was married to C.W. Bailey February 3, 1831, who preceded her only a few years ago to the better world. Mrs. Bailey was converted and joined the in M.E. Church in 1833 and was a worthly member the remainder of her life. She was a Christian, not in profession merely, but her life was devoted to Christian deeds. As an example of her charity and benevolence of heart, not less than ˝ dozen orphaned children found a home at her house and a mother there, who was attentive and devoted as any mother can be. Truly a "Mother" of Israel has fallen.
