     There is a cemetery on the infirmary grounds which dates back to the late 1830's.  Graves were marked with wooden crosses.  One day when a man was raking leaves he set them on fire and also burned the wooden crosses.  The general area is known and a marker is planned.  Exact location of graves, however, is not known.
 
     In some of the death records, the place of burial is mentioned but in others it is not.  There is the possibility that any of those not specified as being buried elsewhere, are buried in the infirmary cemetery.  In later years, residents who were ill were moved to rest homes or the hospital and probably died there.  Since there were no funeral home records and the newspapers didn't carry many deaths in the early 1800's, there is no record for this time.  The last burial in the infirmary cemetery recorded here is in 1942.  Here are those known deaths at the infirmary but there may be others:

Westerfield Samuel died Feb 8, 1932; 71 years, 11 months, 20 days, Born 1751.
Norris Alexander died May 18, 1850; about 80.
Swain Bethuel died Aug 9, 1850; age abt 68; born New York.
Hinman Mrs Jane died Aug 15, 1850; about 65.  Born in Ireland.
Neff Abraham died March 17, 1853; about 50.
Morris William died Sep 2, 1854; age 54.
Bromage Mrs A. w/o R. H. died Mar 31, 1866.  Badly burnt after her clothes caught fire from a fire she built to keep warm while 
walking along the railroad to Camden.  Taken to the infirmary for care.
Martin Harvey died Feb 28, 1869, age 111.  Had been in the infirmary since May 25, 1867.  Leaves wife, 97, came 
from Spottsylvania Co., Virginia.  Both had been slaves a good part of their life.
Heath Martin died Oct 28, 1870; age about 80.
Ellinger John died Jan 24, 1871; age 73.  Had been there for the last 10 years.
Oswalt Catharine died Feb 24, 1871; age 54.  Had been there since 1852.
Bedell John died July 4, 1871; age 72.
Colter Richard died July 22, 1872; age 55.
Sprowl Mrs. Mary died July 12, 1873; age 89.  Born in Virginia.  Had been an inmate for 12 years.  Buried at New Paris.
Runyon Betty died Jan. 13, 1874 at 77 years, 8 months.
Higgins Polly died Jan. 19, 1874, age 82.
Brown Conrad died June 7, 1874, age 82.  A difficulty occurred between him and another inmate in which he was
badly injured, from the effects of which he died.
Worden Miss Harriett died Nov. 17, 1874, age 44 years.
Rice John died March 21, 1875 of cancer, age 70.
Gray Mary died March 21, 1875, age 70.
Fornshell George died April 23, 1875 of disease of the heart, age 90.
Wolf Dr. John killed by inmate Dec. 27, 1875.  Had been in the infirmary over 30 years because he was crippled.
Beaten over the head with a shovel by a man named Martin.
Mackanally Owen died July 1, 1876, age 70.
Gardner John died July 30, 1876, age 24.
Morris Mary E. died March 27, 1877, age 37
Robeson Harvy died August 6, 1877, age 54
Bordun Joseph died August 22, 1877, age 84
Loxley Solomon died December 21, 1877, age 63
Murphy James died January 17, 1878, age about 75.
