It is believed
the first cemetery at what is now Camden is |
|
|
|
covered
by part of the village. The next was on the hill west |
|
|
|
of town off of
what is now Route 725. This cemetery was |
|
|
|
begun about 1820 and it is probable that most of the people |
|
|
who died in the village after that date were buried on
the hill. |
|
|
The new cemetery was started in the early 1870's and some |
|
|
of the bodies from the old were moved to the new. |
|
|
|
There is not a good record of who was buried on the hill, but |
|
|
we do have these
names copied from the stones that were |
|
|
|
left at the time, but the exact date is unknown. |
