Pfc. Andrew Steffan, 27, of Pandora was killed in action July 28, in the southwest Pacific, his parents have been notified by the War Department.

Pfs. Steffan was the son of Mr. amd Mrs. Samuel Steffan of Pandora and was born in Fortuna, Mo., March 29, 1916. He was graduated from Pandora high school with the class of 1934.
The man entered the service Jan. 20, 1940, and was with the 37th Division, Ohio's crack unit, when it trained at Camp Shelby, Miss., Indiantown Gap, Pa., and overseas.
The parents survive together with four brothers, Willis with the Navy at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; Harry with the Navy in California; Leonard at Great Lakes Naval Training Station and John Steffan at home, and four sisters, Mrs. Bess Green of Iowa, Mrs. Arlene Snare of Cleveland, Miss Nelle Steffan of Dayton and Miss Ruth Steffan at home.

No details regarding the manner in which Pfc. Steffan lost his life were contained in the telegram received by the parents. As soon as further details are received a memorial service will be conducted in the Grace Mennonite church here.
