| The Lima News - Jan 3, 1929 Delphos Delphos Boy, 12, Rescues 2 From Canal Waters When Fay Diehl, 13, and Edward Ernst, 14, dropped thru the ice into the waters of the Miami & Erie canal here, Lucien Diehl, 12, ran to the rescue. Ernst went under twice before the youthful hero pulled hime to shore. The pair were after a glass vase frozen in the ice, which failed under their weight. |

| The Lima News Jan 7, 1937 Columbus Grove Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Palmer, who have lived within a half mile of the community most of their lives, will observe their 53rd wedding anniversary Sunday. Because of ill health of the widely known residents, the event will be marked without ceremony. Mrs. Palmer, who before her marriage was Miss Mary A. Feathergall, was born Nov. 30, 1864. Her husband celebrated his 74th birthday last Tuesday. The couple was married in Columbus Grove. The Palmers have four children, one son living in Lima, another in Columbus grove and a third resides on a farm east of here. A daughter makes her home in Tippencanoe City. They have 26 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. |
| From the Tucson Citizen Jan. 17, 1908 Ottawa, O., Jan 17- Miss Sara Pope, aged 50 years, and living on her farm five miles south of here, committed suicide today by hanging herself in the barn. Miss Pope one of the wealthiest women in this county, and had managed her own farm for years. She was consumptive and had often spoken to her friends of ending her life.

| From The Iner Ocean Aug. 2, 1875 Ottawa, O., Aug. 1- Mrs. J. W. Douglass, of Kalida, in this county, committed suicide last Thursday night, by taking morphine. Domestic trouble is the supposed cause. She left one infant child five months old. |
