Kathryn A. Nartker
Kathryn A. Nartker, 86, died at 2:10 p.m. Dec 13, 2001 at St. Rita's Medical Center. She was born Dec. 9,1915, in New Cleveland to Bernard and Catherine Laubenthal Wischmeyer, who preceded her in death. On Nov. 27, 1939. she married August Stritt, who died July 5, 1965. On Apr. 5, 1975, she married John Nartker, who died May 9,1999. Mrs. Nartker retired in 1980, from GTE Sylvania. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Ottawa, and its Rosary Altar Society. She was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9142 Auxiliary, Ottawa. Survivors include a son, a stepson, a step-daughter, a brother, Harold Wischmeyer of Ottawa; two sisters, Mary Jane Leinsetter and Audrey Cavanaugh, both of Ottawa ; and nine step-grandchildren and 18 step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Jim, Alfred and Norman Wischmeyer; and three sisters, Mildred Itrickner, Dolores Recker and Loretta Brisk Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 am. Monday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Ottawa The Rev. Tom Hemm will officiate. Burial will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Miller City. [Lima News Dec 15, 2001]
Donald C. Niese
OTTAWA - Donald C. Niese, 80, of Ottawa, died 1:29 am, Friday, April 29, 2011 at his residence. He was born January 22, 1931 in Belmore to the late Ferd and Margaret (Kaufman) Niese. On June 10, 1952 he married Ethel J. Gerdeman. She died September 26, 1982. He then married Frances Klausing Cole on December 28, 1987 and she survives in Ottawa.
Also surviving are 5 children: Joyce (Greg) Poppel of Columbus, Roger (Barb) Niese of Glandorf, Dale (Denise) Niese of Northwood, Elaine (Tom) Schulte of Marco Island, FL and Dean (Cathy) Niese of Maumee; a son-in-law: Dennis Diehn of Toledo; 3 stepsons: Christopher Cole of Pandora, Nicholas (Deborah) Cole of Leipsic and David (Carla) Cole of Ada; 14 grandchildren: Jill (Brian) Boerst, Heather (Nick) Anderson, Krista (Andy) Nicholas, Nicholas Poppel, Brian (Sarah) Niese, Holly (Kevin) Unterbrink, Cody Niese, Benjamin Niese, Andrew Niese, Alan Schulte, Erin Schulte, Nathan Niese, Alyssa Niese, Justin Niese; 5 step-grandchildren: Dalton Cole, Kelsey Cole, Wyatt Rodriquez, Paige Cole, Corissa Cole; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 step-great-grandson; and a sister: Rita Langhals of Kalida. He was preceded in death by a daughter: Julie Diehn; and 3 brothers: Charles Niese, Wilbert Niese and Henry Niese. Mr. Niese retired from Philips ECG of Ottawa after 40 years. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa; US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict; a member of the Ottawa Eagles, Quarter Century Club, Amateur Radio Club, Model Train Club, Parkinson's Support Group and former member of the Leipsic Rod and Gun. He had a passion for fishing, playing cards, trains and shuffleboard. He enjoyed winters in Florida with his wife.
A Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10:00 am, Monday, May 2, 2011 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa with Fr. Alfons Minja officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Ottawa American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 pm Sunday at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa where a scripture service will be held at 8:00 pm. [Lima News Apr 30, 2011]
OTTAWA, Feb. 5-Funeral services have been arranged for 10 a. m. Thursday in the Pope memorial home here for Mrs. Emma Norris, 65, who died yesterday in her home here following a three day illness. The Rev. Gibson Wilson will be in charge of services with burial in the Pomeroy cemetery. Mrs. Norris was born to John and Irene Sutherland in Ottawa , Sept. 26, 1875. She and Hugh Norris were married Nov. 26, 1903, at Newton, Ia. The husband is the only survivor. Her body will remain at the funeral home until time for the rites. Name of Deceased: Gloria Norwood. Gloria C. Norwood
Leipsic- Gloria C. Norwood, 77, Leipsic, died at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday in Putnam Acres Care Center, Ottawa.
She was born Dec. 5, 1924, in Toledo, the daughter of Ralph and Carolyn (Bricker) Coppernoll. In 1948, she married Donald Norwood, who survives. She worked for the Ohio Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation Worker's Compensation, was a 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star, former member of Rainbow Girls and recipient of the Grand Cross of Colors.
Also surviving are a son, Stephen, Defiance; a daughter, Mrs. Bob (Carolyn) Hunsche, Akron; and four grandchildren. Burial is in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park, Toledo. ["The Crescent-News", Defiance, OH, 06/28/2002; Sub. by Kate Watson]
