After long weary months of suffering and fighting the dread disease tuberculosis, Lea Brittingham succumbed to the inevitable Saturday afternoon at the West Newton hospital in Boston. Mr. Brittingham left here in January and received the best of treatment. He had been injured by a fall and the disease soon developed. At times it looked as though he might conquer the disease but death won in the end. Throughout all of his suffering he was patient and cheerful and hoped for the best, but was always ready for the worst. The remains arrived in this city at 4:45 o'clock Monday morning from Boston via the Lake Shore railroad. The body was taken to the residence of Lewis M. lea, No. 502 Wayne street. Mrs. W. G. Myers, mother of the young man and Miss Bessie Brittingham, a sister, accompanied the remains. The young man was well known in this city and popular among a host of friends, all of whom have been watching his fight for life with a heartfelt interest and hope that he would survive. Among young and old he was well known and much sorrow is felt at the news of his death. He was cut down just at the dawn of young manhood. Had he lived until the 24th of this month, he would have been 19 years of age.
The funeral services will be held at the residence of Lewis M. Lea Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The services will be conducted by Rev. Baer. Interment will be made at Oakland. The pall bearers will be Messrs. Clifford King, Allison Baer, Lester Scott and Irvin Adolph.
