 SIDNEY, Aug. 2--John Casey, 72, widely-known retired railroad man, died Thursday at Wilson Memorial hospital, which he had entered a week ago for treatment for complications. Surviving are a son, a daughter, two brothers, and one sister Mrs. G. Edward Wilson, with whom he made his home. Burial in Graceland cemetery.

 SIDNEY, Aug. 2—Funeral services will be conducted in the Methodist church Saturday after-
noon at 2 o'clock for Charles Long, 71, lifelong resident of this community who died at his home from heart trouble. Interment will be made in Cedar Point cemetery at Pisco. Long was an employe of the Monarch Machine Tool Co. for a number of years. He was born May 13, 1859, on a farm east of Sidney. Surviving of his family are five brothers and sisters. He was married twice, his first marriage with the late Miss Ida Eicher, of   Quincy  . She and their only son are deceased. His second marriage was to Miss  Rosia McDonald, of Lockington, on March 30, 1898.  She survives with three children and five grandchildren.

 SIDNEY, Aug.3 — Funeral services for  Willis D. Davis, 43, prominent farmer and dairyman of Jackson Center who drowned in a river near Mt. Vernon on Wednesday, were held Saturday afternoon in the Davis home with Rev. J. K. Sehultz, of Nashville, Tenn. and Rev. E. E. Russell, of   Lima  , in charge. Burial was made in Glen cemetery at Port Jefferson,  His widow survives with six
children, two brothers, two grandchildren, three nephews and two nieces.

 SIDNEY Aug. 3—Funeral rites for Samuel H. Love, 85, widely-known building contractor, who died at his home late Friday afternoon from general debility, will be
held at the Love residence Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in charge of a nephew, Rev. J. R. Love of Lima. Burial will be in  Graceland cemetery. Love was born on June 22, 1855, in Cynthian-tp, Shelby-co. He was married to Laura B. Babylon in  Nov.,1882 and they were the parents of five children, four of whom survive with the widow. Two brothers also survive with six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs.  Marie Palmisano, 73, widow of August Palmisano, who died Wednesday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Cianciola, on S. Miami-av, will be held Monday morning. Solemn high mass will be celebrated at Graceland cemetery. Surviving are three children, James, George and Mrs. Henry Cianciola and 12 grandchildren, one great grandchild and tow sisters, Mrs. Fred Ciancio, and Mrs. James Ciancio, of Cincinnati.


WILMA L. FERGUS, 76, died April 19, 1997, at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton.
She was born April 22, 1920, in Jackson Township, Shelby County, to Leroy E. and Clara O. Allinger Wilt.
Mrs. Fergus retired from LeRoi International Inc., Sidney, and owned and operated Webster's Carry Out from 1980 to 1989. She sold Avon products in Jackson Center and Jackson Township from 1962 to 1974.
She was a life member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, Montra. She was a member and former chaplain of the American Legion 217 Auxiliary, Sidney.
Survivors include a son, James E. Fergus of Botkins; a daughter, Judy Fergus of Sidney; a sister, Beulah Davis of Lewistown; a grandson and a great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Marie Wilt.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. today at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Montra. The Rev. Robert Miller will officiate.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Arrangements are by Van Horn, Funeral Home Jackson Center.

Mrs. Thelma L. Wilt, 57, of Rt. 1, died at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday in St. Rita's Hospital, Lima, following an extended illness.
Surviving are her husband, Kenneth M, a son, Dale of here; a daughter, Connie Sue, at home; and a grandchild.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Siferd Funeral Home, Wapakoneta. Burial will be in Loramie Valley cemetery. Friends may all at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

Jacob I. Gehrhch, 74, died late Friday afternoon of a stroke in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harry Monger.

He was manager of the lumber yard here. He was a former member of the school board, Knights of Columbus and Immaculate Conception church. A native of Jennings-co, Ind., he was born Jan. 24, 1872, and lived in Wapakoneta for several years before moving to Botkins 39 years ago.
Besides the daughter he is survived by three sons, William, Urban and Frederick, all of Botkins, five brothers, Charles, Joseph, George and Fred, all of Wapakoneta, and Frank of Minneapolis, Minn.
Services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at the Immaculate Conception church with Rev. E. G. Depenbrock officiating. Interment in the church cemetery.

BOTKINS - Helen A. Gritzmaker, 71, of here, died at 10:57 a.m. Friday at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys after a four-day illness. She was born on Oct. 28, 1914, in Shelby County, a daughter of George P. and Sophia Langebrake May. On Aug. 10, 1939, she married Wilson W. Gritzmaker, who survives.
Mrs. Gritzmaker was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Kettlersville and the
Women's Guild of the church.
Survivors also include one son, U. Col. Duane W. Gritzmaker of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two
grandchildren; and one sister, Luetta Gritzmaker of Troy. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Kettlersville, Rev. Thomas K. Norwalk officiating. Burial will be in Schwaberow Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Vornholt Funeral Home in New Bremen, and from 11 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the church memorial fund.

JACKSON CENTER — Thaddeus Lloyd Meredith died at 7:28 p.m. Sunday at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine several hours after birth.
Survivors include his parents, Rev. James L. and Rikki C. Jones Meredith; a sister, Elizabeth Anne Meredith, at home; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Jones of Kettering; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Meredith of Marion; and paternal great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Behner of Marion. Services will be at 10 a.m.
Wednesday at the Seventh-Day Baptist Cemetery, Jackson Center, with Rev. Elwood Rose, district superintendent of the Dayton North District of the United Methodist Church, officiating.
Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Meredith home, 106 Elder St., Jackson Center. Arrangements are under the direction of Van Horn Funeral Home, Jackson Center.

SIDNEY -  Harry L. Metzler, 71, of here, died at 9:50 p.m. Wednesday at Wilson Memorial Hospital . He was born Sept. 23, 1914, in Rockwood , Tenn. , the son of William and Effie Coston Metzler. On Oct. 31, 1939, he married Anna Murry, who survives. Mr. Metzler retired from Ross Aluminum Foundry of Sidney . He was a member of the Sidney American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars of Quincy, the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Sidney and the Piqua Loyal Order of Moose. He was a World War II veteran. 
Survivors include one son, Harry Metzler Jr. of Cridersville; four daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Judy) Davis of Quincy, Mrs. Gene (Doris) Hansen of DeGraff, Kathy Callahan of Sidney and Mrs. Ronald (Pamela) DeNise
Burton of Quincy ; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Cromes Funeral Home, Rev. Hoyt Davis officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Point Cemetery , Pasco. 
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

JACKSON CENTER - Lewis G. Hott, 64, of Rt. 1, died at 9:05 p.m. Tuesday in Otis Hospital , Celina. Born Feb. 25, 1908, in Sidney , he was the son of Joe and Maude Lewis Hott. He was married on Feb. 29, 1936, to Helen Fast and she survives. 
Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Mary Ellen Clawson of Wickenburg , Ariz. ; and a half- sister, Helen Brarer of Prescott , Ariz. He was a construction work Ariz. He was a construction worker. 
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Van Horn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery , Sidney . Friends may call after noon Friday at the funeral home.

SIDNEY ,   Nov.   4 — Funeral services for Vernon Harland Van Horn 54, of 132 Brooklyn-av will be held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon in the First Baptist church.
Burial will be in Graceland cemetery. He was a native of Shelby-co, born July 19, 1886 a son of Martin and Luella Van Horn, he married Miss Goldie Millhoff on Oct. 18, 1910 and she  survives with six children, who are: Allen. and Harold  Van  Horn,  Mrs. Floyd Stewart, Charles, Mildred, and
Mary Catherine Van Horn, all of Sidney.

SIDNEY , Nov. — Funeral services for Nancy Irene Minnich, eight-month-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Minnich, who died, at the home of her parents on Michigan-av, Monday morning, were held Tuesday afternoon from the Cromes-Wiessinger funeral home. 
The Rev. Plough of the Church of the Brethren officiated. Burial was in Graceland cemetery.

HARROD — Former Harrod resident, William H. Guthrie, 66, of Sidney died at 5 a.m. Wednesday at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton .

He was born July 11, 1917, in Wyandot County , the son of Rev. Joseph and Elsie Teagarden Guthrie. His mother survives. On Aug. 15, 1959, he married Aldena Lewis, who survives.

Mr. Guthrie was retired from Copeland Corp. in Sidney . He was a member of the County Line Church of the Brethren in Harrod.

Survivors also include two brothers, Dr. Morris Guthrie of North Port, Fla. and Rev. Ellis Guthrie of Eaton; two sisters, Helen Meyers of Lima and Esther Hoffebert of
Xenia ; and a foster brother, Fred Swigart of California .

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cromes Funeral Home, Sidney, Rev. David Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery .

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and until time of services Saturday.

BOTKINS - Eileen V. Hagelberger, 63. died Sunday at 7:52 a.m. at St Rita's Medical Center .

Born May 8, 1920 in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Floyd and Carrie Brideweiser Ware. On April 1, 1939, she married Marcus I. Hagelberger, who died May 22, 1982.

A member of St. Paul 's Lutheran Church in Botkins, she was a member of the Women's Society of the church, Botkins and Sidney Senior Citizens and Shelby County Draft Horse Association.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Emerson ( Janet) Metz of Botkins; five grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs Melvin (Florence) Rickert of Botkins. Mrs.
Ruth Westerbeck of Wapakoneta, and her twin, Mrs. Arleen Snavley of Sidney .

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the church. Rev. Donald Allman officiating. Burial will be in Loramie Valley Cemetery.

Friends may call at Van Horn Funeral Home from 7 to 9 tonight, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church choir robe fund or the Anna-Botkins Rescue Squad.

William Emery Mathile, 32, an employe of the Frankz Brothers Contractors, died at 8:30 a.m. today in Lima St Rita's hospital. Mathile, unmarried resided in North Creek.

The body has been removed at Continental to remain pending arrangements of final rites.

Ft. Loramie - Funeral services for Edward Martz, who died in his S. Main-st home here after an illness of one year from a heart ailment, have been arranged for Friday at 9 a. m. in St. Michael's Catholic church here, Rev. Anthony Moeller will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Born in Ft. Loramie, he as a young man married Miss Mary Chesler, of Botkins. She died in 1939 at Cleveland, where they resided for several years. Surviving are an adopted son, a sister and a half-sister.

SIDNEY , Jan. 3—Funeral rites for Miss Elizabeth Erthal, 77, lifelong mission worker, who died the home of Mr. and Mrs. Willam Tingley of Syndicate on Sunday, was held at the home of her niece, Mrs. Charles Schie, Wednesday afternoon. Rev. J. A. Long of the Church of Christ was in charge, and interment was in Glen cemetery at Port Jefferson.

Miss Erthal was a native of Winchester , where she was born Dec. 21, 1862, the daughter of John and Philobena Traxel Erthal. She N survived by six brothers and sisters. Since early girlhood her life had been dedicated to gospel work. She had served as h missionary in many parts of Japan and her later years were spent in this country where she served as a mission teacher in orphanage schools, mostly in the Carolinas.

Obit: DEATH OF PETER CLAY - Prominent Perry Township Farmer Passed Away After Lingering Illness. - Peter Clay, a prominent resident of Perry township, died at his home a mile northwest of Pemberton about eight o'clock Wednesday morning. He had suffered from stomach trouble for a long time and for the past four months had been confined to his bed most of the time. Mr. Clay was about sixty-five years of age. He was for many years a resident of Logan County, moving to his late residence from near Degraff, some thirteen years ago. His wife died before his removal to this county, but he is survived by two children, a son, Charles Clay, and a daughter, Mrs. John Baker. Mr. Clay was a man held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. He was a member of the M. E. church and a man who will be much missed in the community. The funeral takes place from his late home Friday afternoon at two o'clock. Interment will be at the cemetery south of Quincy.
