David Nichols
AKRON, Dec. 22. - David Nichols, 25, 39 Glenwood court, died early today at City hospital, from a bullet wound inflicted by his father, Joseph Nichols, 53, last night as a result of mistaken identity. The father is in the hospital suffering from a self-inflicted wound. His condition, attendants say, is serious. The shooting and attempted suicide occurred near the Nichols home. The father, police say, objected to attentions paid his daughter by a local young man, so he put a revolver into his pocket as he left the house last evening. Fearing his father might use the gun on the admirer of his sister, the son followed him from the house. About 200 feet from the front door, the father turned and fired. The bullet entered the right lung of the son. Realizing his mistake, the father turned the revolver on himself, and pulled the trigger. The bullet lodged in his left lung.
